I think the zero mechs thing was for the lower ranks. Luke hasn't even been to SSL himself yet (but he is supposedly very close). So I don't think he's going to be able to get there without Mechs. He's probably going to have to use everything he's got.
Have you thought about getting into Omega Strikers? I know you'd rock it out of the park and it would be a great branch for you to expand your audience further. Same demographic.
his "claim to success" in rocket league is that he's good at it so he can help others get good at it, unless luke is already a god at strikers, it wouldn't make much sense, the skills between the two games arn't really transferable

Don't blame your teammates, if you're good enough to get plat, then you will be plat. Also, focus on hitting the ball accurately and you will destroy everyone in gold. Also shadow defense, never too early to learn that.
I've practiced all of them but it's still not helping me. I've gotten plat once with teammates that can keep up with me and I can keep up with them, most of the times I get teammates that can't keep up (not trying to be toxic).
Learn to have an accurate power clear, a solid look on your teammate(s) and opponents and play as much defensively as needed, winning time when they F up. Also don't drive under balls when defending hard balls but always rotate well into the ball. It will make your life much easier.

What do u mean by neutral jump?
Just a tap of the jump botton while in air, like you would do in a fast Arial but it kind of sends you downward a bit
