When it first came out, it was a BIG disappointment moving from the great Pes 2013, but looking back at it now we realize it was the stepping stone for the subsequent games.
To be perfectly honest, i really liked 2014. In terms of gameplay it was definitely a step in the right direction from 2013, it just wasn't as polished. But to go from a pretty arcade game to a new experience that tried really hard, and mostly succeeded, to bring realism back to the game was amazing. People just like to focus on the bugs but forget how fluid and realistic the game was coming from 2013, which is a fan favourite for some reason. In a way, it's quite telling that in a series known for realism, the fan favourites are the most arcadey entries in the series, like 6, 2013 or 2009. It's easy to see why a game like 2014 would be frowned upon but it was the start of that amazing 2015-2018 run.
Honestly 2013 is regarded the best because of its features a semi relastic gameplay especially compared to fifa I lm like you I like full realism and I to liked 14 but the things it did wrong was rushing devlemonpt you went from a game with the most in depth master league best edit mode ever you could create your one stadium you had sponsors you could bring in staff training games ect then you move to 14 and its bear bones in features it needed a whole lot more cooking in the oven.
Great comment, You're absolutely right. The thing with video games is that sometimes we thing we want hardcore realism but sometimes, Punishing simulation isn't always fun. The problem is that developers have to try and make everyone happy with 1 game a year, and sometimes the most well received games are the ones that combine fun & accessibility with recognisable realism.
This game is a weird one for me, never bought it on release, went straight from 13 to 15 since i upgraded from 360 to xb1 back then. bought it 3-4 years ago, and hated it, looked horrible played horrible and i chucked it. but! Since becoming "abandonware" and Chris over at evo put out the pc version with fixes and patches i gave it another go and i love it now. Got it installed with the Firepatch 1.4 and its running smooth in 1080. Loving my South American ML Underated game for sure great video M
One of the best PES ever in terms of realism. Not the version you’re playing though. That’s when Konami ruined it with patches for all the crying kids who wanted it faster. PES2014 out of the box was a masterpiece but only for die hard football fans. Obviously the general audience just wants brainless goal to goal action. That’s why we have efootball now.
Yup! Konami actually sped up the game through patches. The first version of the game was a lot slower paced and the demo was actually quite positively received. Just the full game at launch had unacceptable performance issues.
Hey man, what do you think about simulating the whole qualification for world cup in pes, you have all national teams patch for pes6, 9, 10,11, 12... It will be very good series!
I think this confirms it. Not even your electric commentary can make this game look good. I really hated pes 14 and the face scans were horrible as well as the movement. I wonder why they didn't use the same engine as pes13 because that was the best imo before ps4 and Xbox one

14 was my first pes on Xbox I absolutely loved it and was shocked when I saw bad reviews online
I still have this game on CD in original box. Great game! This is also my first full PES game I've ever played 😁
