- Hello everyone, my name is Paul, an international medical graduate, currently pursuing a medical license in North America. I have passed MCCQE1, NAC OSCE, USMLE Step 1, USMLE Step 2 CK, and ECFMG certified. I am helping fellow IMGs preparing for the exam, who are on the same boat through this channel.

In this video, we learn how to send documents to the Medical Council of Canada for verifications and to get ECA reports through Physiciansapply.ca. Medical Credentials for verification is mandatory for MCC Licensing Examinations and Immigration purpose for International Medical Graduates.

Thanks for your videos. I have one question. What type of copy of the medical degree should I send. Just a photocopy of the degree? If yes, don’t I need to do certify that photocopy from Notory public as well?

Hi, you need to scan or photocopy the original medical degree and send for the verification. Please do not notarize that document. You do not need any real 2nd copy from the college, also never send the original copy to MCC. Hope it helps.

1. Yes, no need of any language test.
2. Yes, you can appear as a student.
3. MCCQE2 has been postponed, so no Q2 exam.

Yes, you are correct. Only a medical degree verification is fine for now.

Thank you so much. You only need to send the copy of your MD degree. Right now it should work initially both for the exams and immigration. But if you want to verify your transcript as well, of course you can but you have to pay for that. Thanks.

Thank you for uploading this video. My medical credentials has been source verified previously via ECFMG and it was uploaded In my epic portfolio. Can I use epic to initiate the SVR?
You still has to create SVR, pay the fees for the SVR. As you have already verified credentials in EPIC, it will be automatically updated into your physiciansapply account after a week. Do not share documents from your EPIC account to physicianapply account, it will charge you around 50 US unnecessarily. MCC will ask to ECFMG any way irrespective you share or not. Hope it helps.

You should write in English while creating an account. You also need to request a translation service from MCC as your documents are not in English. What about your passport?

Never send any original medical degree, it is the copy of your medical degree, copy of your passport containing biographic information etc. Thank you.
I have 2 questions: 1-Since SDV for MCCQE is made by the American ECFMG, can we apply for the USMLE through physicansapply? if not, 2-Since the ECFMG already has my documents verified for teh MCCSE, how do I inform them that they have already source verified them when I apply for the USMLE? thanks a lot for your assistance this is much appreciated

Last week, i sent scanned copies of my documents to the MCC email id as they advised to do so due to the covid situation.Now my physician apply account is showing it as "Documents :not received" , should I resend the email or should i wait for a while .
Hello, I am glad that it helped you. I think you should wait as now a days it takes time to update. Moreover, What I know you also need to mail the hard copies as well. Please check the MCC websites for the latest. Thanks.

How do I authorize MCC to share ECA reports with IRCC? They say I need an email but what is IRCC's email address?
Yes, you have to email them the scan copy, although when I did , I had to send the hard copy. It should be on the IRCC website. Please check.

For the passport yes, but not the medical degree. Cover sheet does not need any certification.

This video has been very helpful. I have a question, when I send the documents via mail, do I pay the 175 fee for the medical degree only or also for the identity confirmation form, the passport copy and the cover sheets too ?
Thank you so much for your comment. The fee is for per credential which also includes passport, identity form, cover sheet. That means total 175. You do not need to pay extra for that unless there is any recent change.
hi, thanks for yor video.it is very helpful..i have a question that after source verification and ECA report we have 1 yr window period for exam or we have to apply for application and then we have 1 year window period for exam?
You are very welcome. After you have the ECA repots, it is valid for 5 years for the immigration application and you can take the license exam like MCCQE1 at any time even after 5 years. For exam once it is verified, it is valid forever. But you need to renew after 5 years in case you can't apply for immigration by this time. This will be written in your Physiciansapply account, when documents going to expire once you get the ECA reports.

Thanks for your comment. Before COVID, it was only hard copies that we needed to mail MCC but now in the MCC website, it says email or fax them as well as hard copies. Please see the latest in the website as they are changing many things now.

And also is there a step where they are going to ask some documents coming directly from my home country university to them or I can provide them by myself ( I’m asking this because I have the copy of my MD degree and all my transcripts with me, can I just send them directly to them or will they need to have them from the university)??? Thank you so much for the comment. Well, there are few steps what I can remember. After submitting you documents, it takes weeks to months to complete the whole process. MCC will send those to US (ECFMG), then from US to your medical school and your medical school has to verify those and send back to the addressee. This is in short. After paying for svr , do we need to share dicuments with various options that open up when we click document / share in our physicians account.
If you are completing SVR for the immigration or appearing in exam, you do not need to share any documents with anyone. But if you are doing it for other medical regulatory authorities, you need to share it with them.
Hey doc. Is there any way from which we can send ECA report from WES to MCC?. Actually, my brother is a doc in India and has done his ECA from WES.
What does they mean by session end date in Svr ? The exact date of the last class or date of last examination? Should we be very exact in that one ?
It should be the last date of your session. As for example, your course will end on December 31, 2021 officially, so that would be the last date. it does not necessarily mean the exact date of last class. However, remember whatever you will put, your school will have to verify that as MCC will send those back to school for verification. So contact with school if you are not sure.

For the ECA, you only need to verify medical degree, however, you can also verify your transcript for the future. You have to pay for each.

1. Yes, you are right. Once you send those documents, MCC will upload those documents into your account. However, things are changing so frequently, please keep an eye on MCC website for the latest.
2. Medical transcript is not same as mark sheet. In your marksheet, it will only say your mark, but in medical transcript, it will tell the details of your medical school such as clinical rotation, overall performance. Ask your medical school, they will provide you one. Hope it helps.

Hi this has been really helpful for the application process. I was just wondering, what is the ECA report? What is that for?
An Educational credential assessment (ECA) is used to verify that your foreign degree, diploma, or certificate (or other proof of your credential) is valid and equal to a Canadian one. You need to get an ECA for immigration purposes. MCC will provide this document upon verification that you need to submit during the immigration application. If you are already a PR or citizen of Canada, you do not need this. Hope it helps.

Well, you don't need to send transcript for immigration. As I said when it is written in any certificate as 'PROVISIONAL', MCC will reject it. They will ask for main certificate.
Secondly, there are two categories for physician. GP and Specialist. Which category you have the intention to apply? I am asking to clarify myself.

I think the same. for GP, you need to verify only the basic Medical degree. Once you are in Canada, you can choose whatever you like. I am happy that you liked it. Please share with your Doctor friends who are interested about Canada. Take care.

Hello, I have a couple of pertinent questions. My medical degree, internship and 1st medical license, have already been source verified.
I need to get my post graduate degrees source verified now - MD and DM. The degree certificates do not have start date, but I have course and conduct certificates for both which indicates start and end date. Can I submit 2 documents each as one document for
each of the degrees SVR?
Next - i have 2 more additional qualifications licenses for the MD and DM degrees. Also, license was renewed recently and has a new expiry date. Do I need to submit separate SVRs for each license? - the license registration number is the same, but the licenses start dates are different in all 3. Does that mean I will need to submit 3 SVRs? It seems unreasonable to do so.

Do you have 2 post-graduate certificate or both are together? Anyway, you can mention those start and end date. Make sure, your university will agree with those date. At the end , they will reply for the verification from MCC.
Hello,I have already done Wes and received an eca report for my medical degree.do I again have to apply for an eca report from mcc or just verification is enough?
If you want admission to colleges or universities, WES is fine, however, if you want to appear for licensing examination, then MCC is the only option.
What if we want to use for express entry. Would they refuse wes?

It will create a problem, because your name should be same everywhere, that is why they take identity form. Still, I would encourage you to contact MCC for confirmation and best next step. I would appreciate if you let us know here for others.

No, you do not need ECA, as you are already a PR, only create SVR. Hope it helps.

Hello, 1- you can ask your lawyer to certify your identity form and all other documents must be verified by the MCC.
2- Verification from MCC takes time, maybe even a few months depending on the school response and how fast your documents will reach your school from MCC.

@@MoodJay Yes, it takes time particularly if your medical school prefers paper verification, you can not certify your medical degree, transcript with a laser, those documents must be verified by MCC. Your video was informative. I have a doubt regarding filling the form. On my degree there is written" passed requisite examinations in nov/dec 2016" and date of issue of same document mentioned is March 2018. My internship was in 2017 from jan to December. There is no mention of internship on the degree. Also there is no mention of date of starting of academic year on any document, be it degree or internship completion certificate. Is there any need to bother about it? Please help.
That is a fantastic question. It is your medical degree, not internship completion certificate. Regarding your academic year, you should talk to your medical school as all these documents will be sent to your medical school for verification and medical school office will check what is written in your document that you would send to MCC and what is in their academic record. Date of issue means nothing, It is your passing date that matters. Still, I would encourage you to talk to your school.

@@Shiro_2021 Now I better understand. I haven't encountered this before. There could be two options. One is, you can write your college name while creating an account and put the address of your college official for verification, however, the college name is not mentioned in your certificate. so this is not a good option. The second is, put your university name only and add the university address. I do not think it is a problem. However, remember, whatever address you will put, your all documents will be returned to that address for verification. As I am not an official MCC person, I would highly encourage you to contact MCC for confirmation. You can call or chat with them. mcc.ca/contact-us/. They are super helpful.

That is a great question. Actually my documents were in English so I did not need to do that. But from the website what I know that the authorized MCC personnel will do that, not the candidate. Please check the link of official MCC website for details. mcc.ca/services/source-verification/

Thanks for your nice video. But I am confused about Graduation date and Diploma date, woud you please clear it. In Banladesh MBBS degree is 5 years. so academic starting date may be 01/01/2007 and ending date may be 31/12/2011 or 01/01/2012 for 2006-2007 session. What will be correct?

I think you should ask your medical school about this because they have the official document about that and whatever you will write, MCC will send those to your medical school for verification. So confirm with your school. Graduation and diploma date is always a confusion for us. What I know, Graduation date is when you pass the exam, I mean the result date and Diploma date is what is written on your certificate. School official can also clear those confusion. Well, before candidates had to send the photocopies of medical degree, however, nowadays due to the COVID, they are asking for both emailing the scan copies and mailing hard copies later on. You will be guided during the application. Please DO NOT send any original certificates.

What I know, after emailing, you still need to mail those hard copies by yourself. MCC will again send them back to your school through ECFMG for further verification. After verification, your school will return those verified copies to MCC. Thanks.

That is a good question. I know in many parts of the world, sometimes the same university is dealing with multiple Medical schools and providing the certificate. I would say, whatever you mention, all your documents will back to that address. If you mention the University registrar, documents will be sent there. If the school, then to school. In the past, it was only paper-based, now MCC is accepting soft copies, still asking for hard copies. Please contact MCC for more clarification.mcc.ca/contact-us/

Your identity document can be attested by a number of persons. You will see it is written in the form. Please see the link of certification requirements: mcc.ca/forms-documents/ . Once you send all the required documents to MCC, MCC will send it back to your medical school through ECFMG for the verification of medical degree.

Unfortunately, it will not be helpful for MCC. You must verify with MCC if you want to appear in licensing exams. WES verification might help you with getting admission to universities or colleges in Canada. I still would encourage you to contact MCC. All the best.

Generally, When a reader goes through the photocopy of a medical degree, he or she needs to read it thoroughly to understand that it is a certificate. But if you put a cover sheet, which is a piece of paper where there will be your name and the name of the documents that you are sending. My understanding is you have to change your name either on an academic document or in your passport. but I am not sure how does that work. 1. You can apply for the Q1 exam as a student, you necessarily need to be a graduate
2. Provisional certificate is not allowed, only the main certificate.
3. As a student you can apply with expected graduation within 12 months
4. As a student no but you need some documents that are a student. If already a graduate then you must verify.

After submitting request for source verification,we are supposed to send hard copies of documents to mcc. Question is do we need to visit our university for sending any transcripts to ecfmg? Or they will source verify on their own and let us know.
For MCC, if you want to verify your transcript, you need to collect it from your medical school, send it to MCC and then MCC will send it back to your school through ECFMG for verification. For each type of document verification, you need to pay to MCC.

@@palaksharma8967 MCC or ECFMG will send a return envelope with your documents so that your school can send those back, However, I would encourage you to send those through courier like DHL, FedEx for the safety of your documents. Once lost, you have to restart the whole process. Hope it helps.
