Hope you all enjoy your holidays! Corrections: A. Zombies for Advanced Warfare was released in the first dlc pack but the main menu option was still accessible for anyone at launch. B. Advanced Warfare 2 was actually being worked on before being scrapped and replaced with Modern Warfare 3 (2023)
I really feel like Advanced Warfare was the only cod Sledgehammer made with genuine passion and love, WW2 was commissioned by Activision to extinguish the flames of fan outrage, Vanguard was a soulless gun and skin dispenser for Warzone and MWIII was just a massive middle finger to them as they were once again tasked with cleaning up IW's mess and make a game out of DLC in 13 months.
It’s arguable now that COD is currently in the Dark Ages and the Ghosts-BO4 were the silver age. The most hated game in the current era, Vanguard, is more hated than Infinite Warfare/Ghosts and SBMM to many makes the current era unplayable. The best game in the current era to many, MW19, is not considered to be anywhere near as good as the best of the dark ages, BO3. Community respect is also lower than during the previous era.
Great argument and 100% side with you on SBMM! Blacks ops 3 is for sure the most loved in the dark ages especially for the zombies… I’ll be walking on eggshells when speaking about that one 😂 I think in a world after both games have come out that I’d agree with you on infinite warfare… Infinite warfare was a game that was the most hated COD ever before release but after release… People just had a very “meh” attitude towards it.
@@AppreciationCulture That’s fair. Also, a lot of the monetization and direction for current COD is a response to the backlash Ghosts and IW got. Bundles replaced the Supply drops/Season pass and the rebooting of MW/BO came from stand alone titles falling short of sales figures. Keep up the good work. I enjoyed the video despite disagreements. The Treyarch fanboy within me must be tamed before your Treyarch video, tbh.

@@Sketchy_2 seriously dude like an uncharted 3rd person or first person Call of Duty Vietnam game would go so hard! Our petition to ACTIVISION is simple… LET THEM COOK!
They will always revert back to past events when people get sick of the future. The cycle will continue forever until COD stops selling games… which who knows if that’ll happen ever. Fog of war should’ve been made tho, that was their original goal, and probably would’ve been a blast to play. Would’ve been fully third person too? That just would’ve been crazy to see.
I really like WW2, even now I still play it above a lot of other recent games. I didn't mind the divisions system, was a weird choice of change but for 1 game it wasn't that bad, the most annoying part about it was the basic trainings, half of which didn't suit the division until they came with the overhaul and let you use any basic training with any division. The biggets let down of WW2 for me was half the maps were just bad, either too big like Gustav Cannon or just poorly designed like Saint Marie Du Mont. The gunplay, movement, progression was all simple yet fun, WW2 felt like a modernised Cod 2.
A couple of things that I wished I discussed more with WW2 is the squad system in campaign was pretty solid tbh and overall just lending more positivity to it cause as you say… I love the movement and the gunplay. It sucks cause WW2 is my favorite COD out of these three but people be thinking I hate it cause I trash on the campaign. I do love that sledgehammer brought in the overhaul for Divisions, it was much later, but it was worth it.
Everyone has a different perspective of each call of duty and some people dislike it and some people love it. The thing we need to understand is that with any call of duty there’s going to be people who are upset. For example in the “dark age” period you put, (which I would totally agree with for the most part) there was BO3 which actually turned out to be one of my favorite CODs and it’s commonly referred to as the peak of zombies gameplay. I definitely hated all the others in the dark age though. I think most of us could agree though that if SBMM were removed, or severely toned down, or only effective towards brand new players and then went away after a month or so, and micro transactions were toned way down, we’d have significant improvement.
SBMM? And Black Ops 3 is for sure the most controversial in that dark ages category cause so many people love it and I get why. Zombies Chronicles is an amazing dlc and zombies in general is incredible in that game.
It really annoys me when people claim Vanguard's campaign is bad because it's got historical inaccuracies and fictional stuff thrown in but then love Black Ops 1's campaign lmao. Vanguard wasn't trying to be a super serious game. It was trying to be a action packed blockbuster set in World War II. It never claimed it was going to be "INSANELY HISTORICAL." The closest they said to that was that it'd be immersive. Which 1, is just marketing talk they always say this, and 2, isn't even the same thing as historical accurate. It's trying to immerse you in it's game, story and world. This Hollywood blockbuster version of World War II. Also some of the critiques just completely ignore the intention of the game. The game is meant to be the origin of special forces in the CoD universe. That's why there's this ragtag team of multi-national soldiers. There's a reason Task Force Vanguard's actual name is "Task Force 001" it's a Task Force 141 reference. The game's characters are all inspired by real life World War II soldiers who did crazy stuff. Polina Petrova is obviously a nod to Lyudmila Pavlichenko, Wade Jackson is a reference to Vernon Larsen Micheel and Arthur Kingsley is a nod to Sidney Cornell. The idea is that these badasses formed together to create the first special forces team. You can not like that and wish the game actually was about the real origin of special forces but that's not what the game's trying to do. It's telling a fictional story. Saying they can't do that is very anti-creative. Writers should be allowed to write what they want. I'm not even the biggest fan of the game's campaign, I think it's just kinda alright. But it's soooo infuriating to see people harp on the inaccuracies like it matters. Inaccuracies matter in stuff like Band of Brothers, The Pacific, Saving Private Ryan, 1917, Dunkirk and even World at War to an extent, because they're trying to be extremely accurate. They're trying to capture how World War II (World War I in the case of 1917) was like. Vanguard is not trying to do that. You can not like that approach, that's fine, but don't get mad at the game for stuff it wasn't trying to do. I know you're not like this, I just needed to rant about this because any time you see someone mention Vanguard people lose their minds. Anyways great video!
I did read this whole thing… everybody needs a good vent every once in awhile. I agree with mostly everything you’ve said especially being mad at a game for something it’s not trying to be… it’s absurd. Like experience art for what the intention of the artist was not for what your own expectations are for that art. Did the art execute what the artists intention was well?? If yes then it’s probably a good video game… if it didn’t then it’s bad. I don’t even like vanguard but I think it’s insane to think that the campaign is one of the worst in COD (which many do), that’s ridiculous.
Zombies I’m AW actually wasn’t available on launch unless you mean that one teaser at the end of the survival mode. Exo zombies itself wasn’t added until the games first DLC
You’re right, I put corrects in my pinned comment, but yea that was my bad. It was always on the main menu as an advertisement for the first dlc and I think that’s what I was so confused about. Still not good that they did that but it wasn’t locked behind a paywall since day 1.
Sledgehammer should be the one who makes out there concepts and period pieces for COD. Let them make their Vietnam game, then let them do a Civil War or late 19th century cowboy game
Honestly, the squad mechanics were really great, and I wish I touched on that more in the video. WW2 is my favorite out of these three tbh Still haven’t even touched MW3 😂
Ok I like the video but the characters from WW2 weren't defending a nazi it's just a German soldier there is a difference, the ss and the army were different groups 😂

I won’t lie- I don’t HATE WW2 and AW, okay maybe I do- but not as much as Vanguard. Here’s the thing though, that doesn’t mean they’re good games. WW2 and AW are embarrassments when compared to BO2.
I don’t hate any of these… honestly I don’t know if there’s a single COD I hate. I just find it very hard to hate a video game unless it’s like worst game of the year. WW2 is my fav though out of these three. Maybe Vanguard for most of the games stuff, multiplayer, and zombies. Maybe COD 3 for being super boring but idk.
