This band is so addictive. Every song is a separate sub-genre. Tobias knows how to write seriously catchy ear-worms wrapped up in heavy riffs and topics. All dressed up in a totally crazy backstory or lore.
Ghost is habit-forming. The rock to metal ratio varies wildly from song to song, but it's always catchy and harmonious. Thank you for yet another smooth reaction.
I loooove seeing people realize Ghost sounds more like Kansas and Blue Oyster Cult than like Slipknot 😁 even tho my tastes are more brutal and less edgy-let's-trigger-christians, I'm really into their sound, especially the more poppy ones - weirdly. It is a fun rabbit hole to fall to, but I'm pretty sure your aunt would be horrified 🤪. Well played Ramsy

If you want more of a wider crossover taste of what this band is capable of I would recommend songs like "mummy dust", "kaiserion", "he is", "year zero", "helvetesfönster", "miasma", "spillways", "dance macabre", "twenties", "cirice" and "call me little sunshine"

Well done Ramsey for sneaking this one onto the list, Ghost are a great band, very addictive and catchy and you definitely need to dive deeper into this band. I recommend listening to Square Hammer is your next Ghost song 😃
If you love the harmonies in this song, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised as you listen to more songs by Ghost. You will find that harmonies are definitely a part of their recipe.

Ghost comes with a ton of lore, explaining a lot of the music and the story of the band. It would take more than a single comment field to reveal it all, but I'll give you a few pointers..
You can not fit the music of Ghost into one, or even two categories. The founder and only real member of the band, Tobias Forge, writes all of the music. Sometimes alone, sometimes co-writing with others.
The musicians on stage when performing live are hired session musicians, and they are called Nameless Ghouls. Their outfit changes from time to time, but they always wear masks, hiding their identity. The main singer, is the character of Papa Emeritus.
For almost each album/tour cycle there has been a "new" lead singer. Thus the vocalist on the first album (Opus Eponymous) was Papa Emeritus I.. The second album (Infestissumam) vocalist was Papa Emeritus II.. The third album (Meliora) vocalist was Papa Emeritus III... The fourth album (Prequelle) vocalist was Cardinal Copia.. and the latest album, the fifth (Impera), had vocalist Papa Emeritus IV. All characters played by Tobias of course.
All albums do have a theme.. Imperas theme for example is the rise and fall of empires.. Prequelles theme is the black plague...
I do hope you continue your Ghost journey, and I'd like to suggest you react to the song "Cirice" from the Meliora album. This song won the US Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 2016. But remember.. As long as you have Ghost, you have everything.

LOVE IT! More Ghost for sure. I have watched the 5 times now live and they never dissapoint. Try "year zero" and "Square hammer".
Music is supposed to evoke stuff, and Ghost evokes ALL the feels. Go see them. You'll be among 20,000 happy fans. You said it, they are serious musicians with a whimsical show. I saw them 5 times in the last year and would see them 100 times more if I could.
Forge once said that what he wanted to do was to create worship music for non-believers and as the target audience hearing Cirice and He Is for the first time was about as close to a religious experience I've ever had 😅
they are so theatrical and cheeky and I love them and the just know how to have fun and the theme is not so serious they are just fans of horror and classic metal tropes :) but really one of the most fresh and talented bands I discovered recently :) plus c'mon, the nuns at the gig are hilarious I love it 🤣🤣🤣

Of the ghost songs I've heard, there is a contrast between the band name and some lyrics and the happy upbeat sound. Very fun! Try "Square hammer" and "Call me little sunshine".

I don't know if anyone already said it, but it's actually both a mask and face paint. Before it was accidentally revealed who the lead singer was, Tobias Forge, he would wear both a mask and face paint as he wasn't supposed to be recognized. If you enjoy this, you need to check out back when he was Papa Emeritus 1.

I love your reaction. Yeah, Ghost fans are like a nerdy, geeky D&D family. Last time I saw Ghost live back here in Amsterdam in June, all of us fans felt like family. We shared sunscreen, sweets and drinks before the gig, and afterwards (when there were no trains back home due to electrical issues) we shared phones, ice-creams and taxis. And through it all we had singalongs and laughs. Metal bands have a bad rep, but I have found that there is no need for that at all when it comes to Ghost, and this video shows it very clearly!
I also was in Amsterdam to see Ghost for this fist time. You must see them!

Ghost is a very awesome band, they lean into their gimmick hard and their theatrics are tied to said gimmick, one way to look at it would be Alice Cooper if he was a satanist. (nobody in the band are satanist, that's just the schtick.)
