You got it. Ghost is supposed to be fun. The crowds are so into it, because it makes them happy. At the root of it, Ghost have top-level songwriting, production, stage presentation, and overall marketing. They are one of the most vital rock bands out there today.

Àlot of Ghost's songs have been used on Tik Tok , Tobias Forge is a clever song writer and it's awesome that he can project his voice the way he does with the constriction of his mask when he sings

The thing with Ghost's lyrics is that it often has several meanings. What you hear is not always what the song is about. The god part is that you can choose what you like to hear. The bad thing is that sometimes the meaning is painful and very dark, with very up-tempo music. Truly fantastic songwriting, in my opinion!
Ghost is one of my favorite bands. Especially the lore they have. It's funny cause this song is 5 years old. But experience them live if you can, I have 3 times and it's a joy every time
Ghost seems to specialize in the "Wait, what?" lyrics. Not "eternally" "internally". Not "be with you", "bewitch you". The lyric that causes you to listen to the whole song over and over, knowing that Bruce Willis was dead the whole time. Which is AWESOME!

Oh there is so much to discover with Ghost, they're one of my favourite bands. The frontman is Tobias Forge, and he writes all the lyrics and the music. When he sings live he isn't actually wearing makeup, but it's a mask! I highly recommend checking out their songs Square Hammer and Cirice.
With regards to the "tickle you internally" lyric, it's not completely unique in their lyrics, they're definitely not afraid to say some pretty outrageous stuff!

Finally saw them live for the first time on august 4th. Been to alot of concerts and this was easily one of the best. Everything from the way the band sounded, to crowd interaction, presentation, it was flawless can't recommend them enough.
You’re absolutely correct the chorus of this song went viral awhile back, well after it had been out it just blew up on tiktok which was cool, great and extremely catchy song, Ghost/Tobias forge is pretty damn great and a lot of fun. If they come to your city they’re a must see, fantastic live band and I’m sure you’d love it. Anyway nice reaction.

YES! Ghost is my all time favorite band! You should do more Ghost videos. A few songs are Spillways, Cirice, Kiss the Go-Goat, Dance Macabre, and Griftwood. But the list goes on and on for me, as I love each song.

Ghost has become one of my absolute favorites. The best live show I've ever seen, and I've seen them 3 times, and I've also seen heavy hitters like Metallica... They don't take themselves too seriously but put on an amazing show...

"Tickle you internally" can refer to other things. I believe the tickling refers to "spiritual" awakening of sorts, or just to what marijuana does.

I have liked the band for some years now, but lately I have become a fan with ease. I still listen to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Sabaton, Rammstein and Avenged Sevenfold. For me it all began with the song Secular Haze.

If you want "heavier" songs there are song like Rats or Cirice
But there are also fun ones like Secular Haze, Square Hammer and Year Zero (beware of the music video for this one)
The fun thing with Ghost is that there is lore within the band. The three former Papa Emeritus characters were brothers between them and stepbrothers to Papa IV here, Their father Papa Nihil is the head of The Clergy. The United Clergy of Ghost, commonly known as The Clergy, is the behind-the-scenes organization that controls Ghost. As of September 2022, Sister Imperator (The alleged mother of Papa IV) is the apparent leader of the organization, with the spirit of Papa Nihil (He "died" in 2020 but is resurrected every concert to perform a sax solo) still serving in a prominent advisory role.
Ghost are huge fun. Super intelligent lyrics linked to catchy tunes - many of them very heavy (MOAC is one of the poppier ones). Tobias Forge is so clever, it's one man's project, really. The backstory he's invented is hilarious. A series of anti-Popes employed by 'the Ministry' to bring down churches and governments by spreading the message through catchy rock music. Every album is a winner - though the first two are very definitely doom metal. And each one has a different character fronting it, all being Tobias (he successfully kept his identity secret for about 7 years).

Square hammer is my favorite, cirice is a close second. Both videos are spectacular.
This song has such an interesting backstory, then story about how it went viral, it's kind of wild. Also, how people WILDLY misinterpret the lyrics as being ABOUT sex. MOAC in Ghost lore is supposed to have been released in 1969 by Papa Nihil, then re-released in 2019 (that's why Papa IV says it's a song his papa used to sing). A "mary on a cross" is a play on words for a three sides joint configured into a cross & lit at 3 ends. The LYRICS are almost certainly about a band trying to make it and failing, but treasuring the journey. And also, the song is about smoking marijuana (tickle you internally... the smoke).
To be fair, I dont think its exactly a misinterpretation, rather just another way of interpreting it. Having multiple meanings to things is kind of a common thing for Tobias, and if didnt want people to interpret the song as being sexual, he wouldnt do stuff like making a fingering motion while singing "tickle you internally".

@@jsavage71The lyrics are obviously meant to be ambiguous about the religious/drug/sex/struggling band stuff. This is very typical Ghost, to use ambiguity in the written lyrics, or purposely construct the lyrics to be misheard. A prime example of the latter is the extremely cheesy lyric that sounds like "I wanna be with you in the moonlight" and is placed in a ridiculously upbeat song but actually reads like something more sinister.
Sometimes the lyrics are pretty straightforward satanism but the music is very upbeat so the song as a whole still plays with this duality.
Overall I think Tobias is a bit underappreciated as a lyricist, he is very clever with his words.

He is so creative in his song writing Tobias, many things he sing has layers. And for those who thinks that they are satanic havent learned a thing since the 80´s. I have watched several interviews with Tobias and the little i know is that he isnt very religeous, if any, so flirting with satanic words in texts is prolly just for creative effect. Anyone who have 100% knowledge about this can correct me, just make sure its first hand and information is true.
