Well, a child should be acknowledged for only certain things, and appearance is not one of them
Plus, I think Homer must know from experience (being acknowledged for his looks as a kid by his parents too) if he was shocked like *that*

Honestly calling Patty and Selma was the best thing he could do. He was completely out of his depth, and nothing he said could help Lisa feel better. He knew he wasn't the right person to help his daughter, but he also knew two people that could. So he called them. This is exactly what "it takes a village" means. Lisa needed her Aunts in that moment, and they were there for her without question.

I'm sick of some of these comments calling Marge a bad mom. She's not. She's very caring and loving towards her family but can sometimes be naive. She didn't mean to hurt Lisa with the chunky comment. Sometimes even the most well meaning parents will hurt their child without realizing it. Lisa is valid for getting upset but since she didn't tell her mom that the chunky comment bothered her, Marge is left clueless. But despite that, Marge still picked up that something was bothering Lisa and tried to do something nice and get her to talk to her. When that failed, she turned to Homer to talk to Lisa in hopes he could get her to open up. When Lisa finally tells Marge the problem, she apologizes and promises to be more careful of her words. To me, this episode wanted to teach both parents and child about communication and how we can easily hurt each other with passive comments.

But Marge had disapointed me in other episodes with her parenting, like when she discriminate her children, as that one that Meg got a high IQ test, higher than Lisa, and she goes with "O love all my children, but some are smarter than others", It doesn't Just left out Lisa but also Bart.

If Homer’s biggest, longest running character flaw is caring too little (abuse, neglect, and just straight up cluelessness), Marge’s equivalent is arguably caring too much (appearances, reputation, and steeped in denial about negatives). Neither is wholly dominated by those flaws, but they do seem to inform most - if not all - of each character’s unique brand of dysfunction.

Once I asked muy mom if I was indeed gaining too much weight, she told me the trutht. And yes It hurted but it was the truth and she helped me eat healthier and do more exercise. She didn't mocked me, she cared about muy health. It would have been wrong if she madre fun of me, yes, but aknowleging overweight is another thing.

Miscommunication happens to all of us, and honestly, if this was a series about an alwas happy and perfectly functional family like in commercials not a single person would care. Flaws makes us human.

People always say hes got more selfish. But I disagree. I think the show and homer has gotten better(the old ones are amazing too). This is an example: in the episode brother from another season homer didn't want to help Bart because of the fucking stairs. But here homer was willing to call the two things he hates more then anything else in the world just to help his daughter.

Homer wasn't always the worst father. People are crazy if they think he is. You have a lot of fathers from the Simpsons who are also not good parents lol and treat their children worse. How is Homer worse? He works, gives advice to his children and even helps them yes there were moments he didn't do... but that doesn't make him the worst. How is Marge a better mother? She also has sins.. How is Lisa as a family member better? She turns Bart into who he is many times, so she is the worst sister? And what about Bart? He is not a perfect child either. Homer is a bad parent, maybe because of the injury? At least if Bart needs help, Homer will help.
Marge loves Bart more than Lisa. And Homer loves Lisa more and that's all.
Homer is not a stupid character, there were moments where he showed himself, he stupidly does not want to work a lot and considers it a lot of time supposedly 🤷🏻‍♂️😊

If you watched the episode you’d realize she didn’t mean anything by it. It was a simple remark and she didn’t realize Lisa was upset by it. Later in the episode Lisa tells her this and they reconcile. Marge learns to be more careful of what she says as she realizes how much her words mean to her daughter who looks up to her.
