Yesterday I cleaned my depression room and I cried when it was finally done. I was sweaty, my body hurt and I had a huge headache but at the end, after taking a shower and putting a scented candle in my room, I was able to fall asleep better knowing that I'd wake up to a clean room! Thanks for inspiring me.

You should know my friends and I got together to clean my depression home this week. Took us roughly three days, and I’m exhausted, it doesn’t even feel like it’s my home, it feels like I’m pretending. You inspired me to be vulnerable enough to ask my friends for help. Together we did it, and now my home is functional, and hygienic. Your home is supposed to be a reflection of how you feel on the inside and although I may not feel worthy of the space I heave right now, I hope I can grow into the kind of person who wants to keep it clean. Thank you for the inspiration. I feel free of the burden of clutter and dirt finally 💕

it really really helps with not getting anxious, bc as soon as it becomes too much I remember that to start out, I need to get rid of everything that doesn’t need to be here - after that it’s already so much less work and it feels like I can get it done easily, and even if I don’t finish I feel like I’ve been productive

I used to live in a house that was out of control like this. I never let mine get as bad as the ones in these videos, but I still had a lot of gross stuff in my house at one time that was comparable to some of the stuff seen on this channel.
How to tackle a big overwhelming mess on your own: commit to a rule of "Give it 15 minutes" (or 8 minutes, or 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 3 minutes, whatever works for you)... 2-3 times a day, at least, if you have a big mess.
Honestly, if you have a big overwhelming mess, very small minute segments several times a day probably work best.
Just set your timer, or put on your Spotify playlist, and tell yourself you will work on stuff for as long as the timer runs, or you can measure it by your music. Commit to cleaning for two songs or something.
I wouldn't plan it either. Just dive in. Whatever you are drawn to do. Pick up garbage, wash some dishes, dust something.
Other idea: The "while you're up" rule. We get up to get something to eat or drink, check mail, or use the toilet all the time. So "while you're already up," do something. While you're up, dust something. While you're up, wash five dishes in your sink. While you're up, pick those things up off the floor. While you're up, pick a few things off that cluttered chair. Take some garbage and recycling out as you're leaving to go somewhere.
As you're tackling your old mess, commit to picking up right away after any CURRENT messes you make. (Like washing the plate as soon as you use it. Putting the trash right into the bin as soon as you're done. Taking the pizza box to the garbage right away.) So that way, you're not just replacing old messes with new ones.
Check out TH-cam for the most convenient ways to clean things. There's lots of cleaning tips.
When it comes to dishes, I commit to plastic, metal, glass in that order of priority. Plastic will lock in old smells fast if not washed in a decent amount of time.
Hope these tips helped. Sincerely, A Former Depressed Slob 😄

When I see one of your amazing videos, that is what I think of, that there must be a better way so it all doesn't end up in a landfill. Calling out to all other US auri katerina fans... Is there some way we can organize an online group and help people in our areas? I can't travel far, and would like to help someone out, but I don't know who needs it. Often people hide these problems and no one knows. If there was a way we could connect easily with people who need help and those who want to help someone near them, we could have a real movement.

sure there are, look at the amount of videos out there of people doing yard work, cleaning, detailing etc for free on youtube in the USA. People like her exist everywhere, it's just that the majority of people can't get sponsors that pay for the trips and materials they need for jobs quite as big as hers. She is 100% an amazing person, and the fact she can help this many people without asking for compensation from them is incredible and very kind, but she's not paying for all of it out of her own pocket, and the amount of views she gets in these videos are more than enough to pay for the job :)

A tip that will cheer you up. Put a few drops of eucalyptus oil in water mix to clean windows, open them after cleaning, if you can. Suddenly you feel like you are standing in a fresh forest. A little dribble of euc oil, on hard floor and a steam mop will make house feel amazing. Even if you only do a metre square or a pathway through stuff. The euc in window wash really knocks back mould on glass.
I also like to put a scrunched up tissue with a few drops of euc oil in cupboards. And in wash for towels, in the last rinse, if you can.

The eucalyptus will blow mouse smells away. Wipe out cupboards with it. Put a few drops in window washing bucket. It really hammers mould on glass, stops it growing back, for a good while.

It isn't motivation. She likes doing it, so it doesn't require much motivation for her. If there's something you want to get done, but you feel like you lack motivation, try making the activity more enjoyable. :)
For example, I used to dread doing the dishes, but then I built an ikea shelf above my sink to put my laptop on so I can watch videos while I do dishes, and not only did it make it more enjoyable, but it also gave me a better sense of how long doing dishes actually takes. My brain would blow it up into this job that takes *forever* but now I know it really doesn't take longer than 15-20 minutes at most.
Motivation is a myth. If you rely on motivation to get things done, it'll never work lol.

This morning I feel refreshed and ready to keep fighting. This video is really helping me to get ready to tackle the disaster that accumulated the past two days. Thank you! God bless

Auri, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm a messy person and I'm very much trying to keep control of myself, but I never noticed how DIRTY my home was here and there until i started watching your videos. Thanks to you, I discovered a simple joy of scrubbing nasty things of surfaces and it makes me feel so much happier! my home is slowly getting cleaner than ever and I'm getting more and more happy with it! THANK YOU SO MUCH.

You are a wonderful lady, cleaning these houses for free. Not only are you helping people forget or help forget when they had mental people but your motivating so many of your viewers plus I don’t know about anyone else but this gets rid of anxiety. All of this for free too AND you are exposing yourself to sooo much mold and stuff.I think I speak for all when I say you are a fricken queen

I wish I had someone around here in Michigan that could do that for me. I've suffered from depression my whole life, but I've managed to keep it together, so to speak. The last couple of years has been very brutal. Then, on October 2nd, I lost my dad. That completely broke me. I can't even put into words how broken my heart is right now. Not a day goes by that I don't sit and cry for hours. My house is trashed. If I had the money to pay somebody to come in and do it, you bet I would. I'm disabled so I can't really get up and do anything anyways. But it's just out of control and it's too much work for me. Anyways, I think what you're doing is so sweet and kind. You are helping this man tackle one of the things off his list that is making him suffer so hard. You have the kindest heart. Happy holidays. 🎄⛄🎅🤶🦌❄️

I’m so sorry to hear your story 🥺 I’m 61 and have suffered from depression most of my life. If it weren’t for the 4 sons I was raising, I wouldn’t have even gotten out of bed. I totally understand you. I started getting better with the proper meds, and little by little I’d get up and take on one small task. You’re not on a schedule, so take your time and don’t beat yourself up. I wish you luck, just keep swimming 🏊‍♀️

Hi, you can throw in the garbage bin 1 plastic bag of tresh you have in your house. It will take you 15 minutes a day. You do this every day and you will feel positive energy and you will feel relieved.

G'day, KarieJo! I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved father. There is a channel called Midwest Magic Cleaning, but I don't know which state it operates in. It's done by a wonderful gentleman named Adam who happens to be autistic but high-functioning and he cleans for free. You might try that channel and leave a comment about your need. If he doesn't work in Michigan, maybe he knows of someone who does. Or, you could google free cleaning for disabled and see what comes up. Hope you find the help you need and may God bless you. 💙

I love the sinks in Finland. I have yet to see any sinks like this in Canada with the built in area to place dishes to dry. You do such a wonderful job cleaning! I am glad that you found a partner who supports you and enjoys cleaning as much as you.

Most sinks in England used to have the draining board next to the sink until dishwasher machines became popular - if I stay somewhere with no draining board I find it very inconvenient!

I love your videos. I suffer depression/PTSD, and had someone rather abusive in my life that made me relate cleaning to something bad. Watching you take on these rooms and act disappointed when something is easy, and not acting shocked/hateful inspires me to not let that person's negativity effect how I am -now.- Thanks for making these videos. I like rewatching them over and over as I clean.
