Thank you for this information and honesty. I will be starting level 2 in January. I like that you mentioned your emotions and how you communicated that. That's something I will need to wok on because sometimes we beat ourselves up thinking we should already know everything.
I’m currently in OTA school, I start level 2 in March and I don’t know what to do financially. I’m a single mother and work as a teaching assistant and depend on that greatly for the schedule, and my school is basically oh well you gotta do it or you will fail. I don’t know what to do 😩
@@QueenB415 I still worked during my level 2 because I had too but my job accommodated my schedule. If they weren’t, I would have just looked for another job that would have worked with my school schedule
Thank you Meeka! This was very helpful and I enjoyed your personality. :) I just finished my first semester of OTA school and we were informed today that we need to fill out our form to request fieldwork assignments. So now I'm thinking about settings and populations to work with. Any advice?
Thank you and thanks for supporting my channel. Is this level 1 or level 2 fieldwork that you’re referring to? Level 2 is the most important. Do you think you would enjoy peds or adults? I will say OTs, especially COTAs work mostly in skilled nursing facilities and they pay the most next to Home Health. I don’t know any COTAs that work in the school system but that’s still an option. Whatever settings you choose, I would definitely make skilled nursing facility one of the settings. I did my level 2 in a forensic hospital and acute care. When it was time for me to apply for jobs, I had some difficulty because of my lack of experience working in skilled nursing which is crazy because I learned a lot by working in acute care which made working in skilled nursing a bit easier.
this was really helpful. Hopefully one day you can make a video about what OTAs specifically do during a session--like, what kinds of exercises or activities do you practice with patients? I'd also love to see a video that discusses ADLs. thanks!

Yes, don’t beat yourself up over it. Do you know where you’re fieldwork placements will be ?
Great video
So proud of you!!!
thanks for the video. it made me less anxious. I'm starting fieldwork this fall and I'm terrified.
You will do fine
Wonderful keep up good work

I hope I was able to answer your question
