Just bought your snare the other day and I LOVE it already! Love what you do for the channel. You’re definitely my favorite drummer out there.

Just was scrolling through TH-cam thinking "My house is small and I want a drumset" when I saw this.

I've pulled up to gigs with my Midtown and sound guys have straight up LAUGHED in my face...until I played it and the grin disappeared and a look of shock and disbelief showed up.
These drums are AMAZING for intimate venues and traveling without a lot of space. For the extra $100 or so, do yourself a favor and buy the bags too. I can carry this full shell pack in one hand. It takes two hands and grunting to unload and load my 24" kick in and out of the trailer and venues.
I am really interested in the Decade Maple though as i do wish the Midtown had a bit more natural low end and volume to offer.

My two fav small kits are, my Custom Mapex Meridian Bop. Featuring an 18x14' kick 14x5.5" snare 8" 10" 12" rack tom, and a 14x14 floor!
I LOVE using the 8 and 10'' rack toms w/ a 14" floor tom, or sometimes, for an ultra compact 5 piece, 12" rack as a floor!

My small setup is a DW Performance series with a 14x3.5" snare, 10" rack tom, 13" rack tom used as a floating floor tom, and 18" kick drum. I have an Evans HD Dry snare head, and Calftone tom and kick batter heads. I use 12" Zildjian New Beats hats, a vintage 60's A 16" crash, 20" A Custom Sizzle ride, and an 18" Avedis crash/ride. The shells lend themselves to lower tunings quite nicely, and I get a lot of punch and tone out of the smaller sizes

Nice! A little smaller than my Mapex fusion kit I've had for like 20 yrs that doesn't technically have a proper floor tom. I love small kits they're so much fun.

Great video and thanks! Thought i'd throw in my 2 cents. Those Pearls sound great! I played a Sonor Bop kit for about a year and loved it, the 16" kick was a little cannon especially when mic'd with a Beta52 or D6. However i found the toms lacked the projection i was needing and they were getting swallowed up by the other instruments, poplar wood just doesn't project the way i need, although close mics will compensate. I was looking for as little miking as possible, usually just a kick mic in smaller venues. In mid to bigger sized venues the kit just looked kind of silly (ie rock gigs) on stage, especially on a drum riser. i finally settled on a mixed kit of a used 20" in Sonor maple kick and 10" and 14" Yamaha Stage Custom birch toms (all black finish and match up close enough) for more projection. I use an old reliable light weight Acrolite snare. Mic with a D6 and an SM57 for overhead... In big rooms or outside shows i'll throw a D2, D4 on the toms for close mics, throw the 57 on the Acro.. A little extra weight with this kit but certainly not back breaking, sounds great and covers most any gig i get called on. Wish i'd kept that little 16" Sonor kick though, that thing was a a joy to play! Also i recommend checking out the new Yamaha HW aluminum hardware. A bit pricey but, damn, a snare stand, hi hat stand and two cymbal stands...18lbs!!... Very well constructed and amazingly sturdy........One more recommendation..a Rock and Roller cart...I swear, the best $140 i've spent on gear in a long time!!! Folds up, fits in the car easily and lightweight, sling my cymbal bag over my shoulder and it's usually one trip load in and one out.

I like small drum kits..the quality of drums now is so good that the sound you can get from smaller drums sizes is sufficient for most applications. I have two kits that are considered 'small' kits: a Sonor 'Bop' set with 5 x 14" snare, 8 x 12" rack tom, 14 x 14" floor tom, and 16 x 18" kick. The other 'small' set is a Ddrum SE Flyer in same shell sizes except the kick is 14 x 18". Both of them meet my needs perfectly. I've gigged with both sets in 'rock' applications in small venues and they were more than sufficient. That crash cymbal in the middle is interesting..never seen one like it.

As a former bassist, I’ll help the drummer carry his if he returns the favor. If he’s hauling in the Neil Peart size kit then don’t complain about my 8x10s cabinets.

the wood type, believe it or not does not make a huge difference. birch, poplar, maple. if its well made with good heads and great tuning, you'd be amazed at how pro they can sound. honestly, the biggest diff between cheap and expensive drums comes down to hardware, finishes and where its built. mexico, china=less expensive. japan, usa, europe= higher end

Compared to maple, birch, or oak, I find poplar shells to require more energy to get the full tone. The drums sounded good.
