Blanket Bay Campsite was number one for me 35 years ago even though it did not have quite as many amenities as is does now.
Solo in a hired camper I set up with few people around. It was all so magical I tried to extend my time just to stay a bit longer.
I've been back several times with my own van and it is just as beguiling now.
Thank you for making such an informative and fun video. Blessings and happy days.

Yeah, I think TH-cam is just testing us out a little; trying to figure out who our audience is. I'm appreciative! You'll have to visit the GOW!

Just found your channel, looks pretty good. Nora is adorable. I live in Melbourne and never heard of this campsite. According to the website caravans are not recommended, do you think a tiny one would fit? its basically the size of your van I reckon.

Thanks so much for the kind words Michelle. We're very appreciative. Judging by your comments, it looks like you've watched a lot of our videos 😊
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you'd be totally fine with a caravan - especially a smaller one. There was a mum and a couple of kids setting one up as we were leaving, now that I'm thinking about it. Most of the sites are big enough to park the caravan and still have room to park the car. You should definitely go!

The reason why there is so many empty campsites is because the Victorian Gov made camping at these sites free over Dec/Jan so loads of people booked the sites but didn't cancel and didn't show up. .....I didn't book one of these sites but I did book a completely different site in Late January and needed to cancel and it is not a SIMPLE process. There are free camps that I like but if I told U then everyone would go there. I lived for a few years by the water and the crowds can be crazy in many places so heading to the cool mountains is a big thing for me. There is a free camp in the mountains and U have to go on a well graded dirt track to get there but U have to drive a bit so I thought there wouldn't be many people there and when I got there there was A LOT of tents and campers......Look at The Mansfield area as many spots are near clear rivers for a swim. Also Wiki camps is awesome.

Thanks for your insights Karen. Yep, totally agree. It should be easy. Imagine if they sent a text message where you could reply Y or N to confirm your site a few days before your arrival. Haha, totally fair - keep your favourites close to your chest! And yep, wikicamps is great - we even find searching for 'free camping' on Google maps has been pretty great. Happy traveling mate!
