The lyrics are so meaningful to me 💕 BTS said "Lights" is a song about the connection of BTS & ARMY + the connection they have with each other with the meaning of "We are always connected by sound and we can always see each other’s light when we close our eyes." 💜 As for the meaning behind the mv, i forgot all of the theories so i can't help you there lmao but a lot of the scenes looked a lot like scenes from the storyline mvs.

The thing is, i believe the reason why every MV feels like it has something to do with the storyline, is because while the storyline is very fictional, it still has a lot of their real feelings in it, and so when they try to be inspirational, we go, "is this a part of the storyline". I thought so too, but the mv or the description doesn't have the BU marking (bangtan universe). Same with spring day, not today and DNA.

The worst thing is that the grandma jackets were actually their Blood, Sweat and Tears stage outfit for the Wings Tour. Also they filmed the "mv" for Spine Breaker as part of a Run episode I think so you'll end up watching it eventually. I love that they organized and filmed this on a whim in a hotel room but during the 5th Muster (like an official fanclub concert) they did Spine Breaker live and they busted out the grandma jackets and the sunglasses and they recreated the god tier dance, that was choreographed by Jin by the way.
Jimin looks in Lights exactly like in palisade commercial (camping ver.), one difference is his hair, they were grey at thattime, but seriously, he looks like a model...

Don't know if you noticed, but in the opening credits of the spinebreaker vid they had the guys listed as the roles they played in the making of the video (ie: RM as director, Suga as the food truck guy), and Jin was listed as dance director! So yeah, he choreographed it! They even did the dance when they performed it at muster this year :D And I don;t know if Lights is storyline or not, but i was literally wondering the same thing right before you said it lol
The "Spine Breaker" music video was the last challenge they got on BTS gayo. They were on tour so they made it like in an hour or something before another schedule. The jackets are their stage outfits for "blood sweat and tears". They were improvising a lot. At the begging you have credits with each members role in making the music video. The iconic choreography was made by Jin in 5 minutes or so. It's all funny and games, right? Well... the song is actually one of the most socially conscious one in BTS discography. The lyrics are criticising young people who make their parents broke their backs, overlooking themselves so they can have fancy clothes (that's why they call their clothes dirty - bc they got then by pressuring their parents to work too much). I don't usually recommend explained by Korean videos anymore but you should check this one.

They also did it for their concerts this year and used the sweaters and everything. You should see the live stages for Lights and Spine Breaker they did during their fanmeet bc both are just as cute and as “chill ridiculous” as the MVs. The full behind the scenes for spine breaker is actually an episode of "BTS Gayo" on vlive. If you search BTS Gayo it is the last episode. :) It is really hilarious. 💜 And there were a lot of people who thought Lights was a part of the BU because of all the time freezes, but like others have said, there was no "BU certified content" in the description. Some of their theories were pretty interesting, though. :)

While story elements can be found in basically every MV, I think this one is more centered around the message of the song itself. They’re each others’ lights. They help each other move forward. The lights imo represent ARMY. So it’s also a message about BTS and ARMY. Also this MV reminded me of BST with all the close up beauty shots combined with BWL with the lighter feel. JM’s style was def an eye catcher and tbh this MV is a reminder of why I bias all 7 lmao. They just won’t let me choose.

it wasn't those jackets because the trend was north face padded jacket. but the fake channel tweed jackets they were in the mv represent those.

The worst thing is that the grandma jackets were actually their Blood, Sweat and Tears stage outfit for the Wings Tour. Also they filmed the "mv" for Spine Breaker as part of a Run episode I think so you'll end up watching it eventually.
I love that they organized and filmed this on a whim in a hotel room but during the 5th Muster (like an official fanclub concert) they did Spine Breaker live and they busted out the grandma jackets and the sunglasses and they recreated the god tier dance, that was choreographed by Jin by the way.
Jimin looks in Lights exactly like in palisade commercial (camping ver.), one difference is his hair, they were grey at thattime, but seriously, he looks like a model...

Don't know if you noticed, but in the opening credits of the spinebreaker vid they had the guys listed as the roles they played in the making of the video (ie: RM as director, Suga as the food truck guy), and Jin was listed as dance director! So yeah, he choreographed it! They even did the dance when they performed it at muster this year :D

The "Spine Breaker" music video was the last challenge they got on BTS gayo. They were on tour so they made it like in an hour or something before another schedule. The jackets are their stage outfits for "blood sweat and tears". They were improvising a lot. At the begging you have credits with each members role in making the music video. The iconic choreography was made by Jin in 5 minutes or so. It's all funny and games, right? Well... the song is actually one of the most socially conscious one in BTS discography. The lyrics are criticising young people who make their parents broke their backs, overlooking themselves so they can have fancy clothes (that's why they call their clothes dirty - bc they got then by pressuring their parents to work too much). I don't usually recommend explained by Korean videos anymore but you should check this one.
It took me forever to finally see this but I LOVE SPINEBREAKER SO MUCH. Jin did do the choreo and it was the cutest thing. They also did it for their concerts this year and used the sweaters and everything.
Lights might be storyline, apparently theres some theories about all the boys now because of this but if it is idk if you want to know exactly what it is lolol since i know you like figuring it out for yourself
You should see the live stages for Lights and Spine Breaker they did during their fanmeet bc both are just as cute and as “chill ridiculous” as the MVs. Also after you finished reacting to MVs I think it’d be cool if you reacted to album tracks, particularly those that sound like they would be perfect for your playlist like Paradise, Love Maze, Dimple, Home etc (unless you’ve heard them already ofc)
The full behind the scenes for spine breaker is actually an episode of "BTS Gayo" on vlive. If you search BTS Gayo it is the last episode. :) It is really hilarious. 💜
And there were a lot of people who thought Lights was a part of the BU because of all the time freezes, but like others have said, there was no "BU certified content" in the description. Some of their theories were pretty interesting, though. :)
Just a note, all Bangtan Universe videos are noted in the description with a BU. If there isn't a BU, it has nothing to do with the storyline.

While story elements can be found in basically every MV, I think this one is more centered around the message of the song itself. They’re each others’ lights. They help each other move forward. The lights imo represent ARMY. So it’s also a message about BTS and ARMY.
Also this MV reminded me of BST with all the close up beauty shots combined with BWL with the lighter feel. JM’s style was def an eye catcher and tbh this MV is a reminder of why I bias all 7 lmao. They just won’t let me choose.

If you want to know if an MV is part of the storyline look in the description box if it says "BU content certified by BigHit Entertainment" it's officially apart of the Bangtan Universe. If you look at other Japanese MV's that are like: I Need U, Run, Blood Sweat & Tears...they each have this in the description box. So Lights isn't officially apart of the Bangtan Universe.
