This song hits on so many levels. Dealing with a toxic parent is rough because you can walk away from toxic friends, people in general... but inside there's a part of you that hopes for "someday." Someday they'll want me, someday they'll love me. Someday we'll be able to have a true bond... but someday never comes. And having to accept that is really hard, because we know God can transform people if they want to be. We know God can turn things around.
But sometimes the best thing you can do is let go, give it over to God and let Him heal you. I had to release my dad this year for the sake of my mental health, my joy. It was difficult, painful... but necessary. I still pray for him but I can't make him be the father I need him to be. And I've learned to take comfort in the fact that I have a Father in heaven who loves me more than I could ever imagine. So feeling like you've been thrown away over and over hurts, God has loved me before I even came into this world. And that's something to rejoice in.
Jesus Christ loves you always and forever. Remember our lives here are but a single heart beat of times length incomparison to our eternal life with Christ and God our Father. Keep your head up n take it moment by moment until the Holy Spirit gives you your healing, whatever way that might look like.

Bitter family photo and now this....there's so many more tracks surrounding the feeling of not having a father but we can make these tracks because our true father in heaven allows us to persevere...I didn't have mine growing up due to drugs but...I tracked him down in Missouri moved in with him stayed in Missouri for 6 years met my wife had 2 kids now I'm back in oregon with them and my dad is clean and sober working...alot of things happened to get from point A to point B

I’ve been contemplating this very thing for the past month. I dropped out of full time ministry due to burn out and some internal struggles. I feel Father Yah is calling me to cross lines and break walls to reach those that need Him the most but I self sabotage and drop my ideas because I was told I’m not good enough to lead. It sucks when you look around and nothing changes even though you want it to.

Long post alert:
Here is my personal take. Our Lives are full of pain in this Fallen world. Oftentimes we point the fingers to our family, our employers, our landlords, our friends who have left us, where we live which ultimately points the finger to God. At my lowest points my broken heart resonates with Andy's words "Nobody is coming for me" I think of the verse where it says the Lord is close to the broken hearted. (Psalm 34:18)
It also reminds me of the story of the paralytic man near the pool of Bethesda (John 5). Here we find a man... who had been there for almost 4 decades. He truly thought "nobody is coming for me." Jesus finds him and simply asks him "do you want to be well"
I think in many moments God has asked us the same but we let the moment pass by and we say "I can't sir" and we look for excuses like that man did... "I have nobody... to take me to the pool to be healed" yep that's me... looking for alternate solutions.
Jesus finally breaks through the darkness and says "stand up, pick up your mat and walk!" The man was healed. But he still had a role to play. To stand up! He needed to gather his own god renewed strength and get up and then cleanup his belongings to never return to that place in which he felt forsaken.
This song... man... puts me in that spot. What if God has already provided all we need to get up? But we still focused on the one thing we are praying for? What If the answer was that God was waiting for me? We may not even know it's him. The man looked around for Jesus and he was already gone. He didn't know it was Jesus until later on. That's okay. God works on his own time not always according to our faith. He finds the most broken people... heals them... meets their deepest needs and then later says Follow Me. I see Andy words coming from that place when he asks the question... maybe I've been waiting for me.
That hit me hard because when I look around The Lord has already provided me with resources to get back up from this dark place that I'm in. I need to get up pick up my mat and walk towards them... therapy... family... or the voice that says... "don't forget I'm here"
One more thing... the Pharisees enter the scene and instead of rejoicing with the man's healing they quickly looked for condemnation and some scholars believe this is the beginning of Jesus persecution by the Jewish Leaders. Let's not be like that. This song is just a snap shot of presumably Andy's life. We think we know our heroes but let's pray and then rejoice once Andy let's us know where he is in his healing faith walk.
Man...I thought the same thing listening through this. Great take on this. In times of brokenness, God reminds us that He is near and is our sufficeny.
