I ruined 2 Presa females listening to vets. I fixed them at 6 months. Worse thing I could have ever done. Now that I’m educated I will never do it until the growth is done. If it’s even needed. So happy you have a little more time now. Looking forward to more videos 😄

Thank you for reminding people about the early neuter of their dogs! I'm always telling people to please wait till the dogs are around two for the health of the dogs.
I have 2 Heelers and the very least I could do for my dogs who are like family, is to let them mature first. I will never spay before 2yrs again. Thanks for your great video content too!!

Amazing that you get to point this out... My Rottweiler female puppy of 5 months has exactly the same problem of pooping inside the house. The compound has three families in three flats. I take her out of the flat into the compound and she holds the poop and keeps playing around the compound instead. As soon as I take her back into the flat, she poops and pees.... Arrrghh.

I agree completely about pediatric spay and neuter. I’m so glad I didn’t get my baby cat neutered before six months of age (and that his vet didn’t try to “sneak one in” when he was under the knife for eating yarn). I wish I could’ve waited until he was a year old, but he was spraying everywhere and humping his older cat sisters.
Now I have an eleven-month-old intact puppy who has bad separation anxiety-he even hyperventilates. (He suffered terrible abuse when he was little.) I’ve had him for less than two weeks. I can kennel him at night to keep him safe and give the kitties a break, and he’s fine-a clean and dry kennel in the morning, if his toys are worse for the wear. But if I kennel him to go to the store for a couple of hours, he’s pooped in his kennel when I get back. This has happened twice. I’ve had to toss bedding and toys. I can’t keep buying him replacements, and obviously he can hold his bowel all night. What can I do to help my boy?

I had to run that back to make sure I heard you right about how you accidentally dialed Marc Goldberg. That is hilarious. I have never had a dog that pooped in their crate out of anxiety, but I hear all the time from people how they go out with the dog to get them to do their business and the dog refuses to go, then comes in the house and relieves himself. I always tell them to be prepared to stay out for a good long time and take the dog for a walk. Especially young people want to go out really quick, they don't dress for the cold and they are anxious all the time they are out with the dog about getting back inside. My neighbor is having problems (AGAIN) with her bull dog trying to bite her husband when he goes to take her out. She runs over to the lady and growls at the hubby. I said, OK, you need to change what you are doing with the dog. The dog is not aggressive. She does not need to be rehomed, taken to the shelter or killed. You guys need to quit doing what you are doing and act differently around the dog. The dog needs structure and precise, clear communication. Right now. Before this becomes a habit. These people have farm animals and the guy was the leader of the FFA before he recently retired from teaching--so I am continually surprised that they have so much trouble with their dogs.

I like what you've said. But I'll have to disagree with one thing. I see all the time trainers claiming SA is always owner induced, but that's definitely not true. It is true that a lot of the time it is owner induced, but I don't know about all the crappy bred nervy dogs, but there is most definitely true it can be genetic. For BYB Siberian Huskies it's so prominent. I own one & it's been a struggle for years. We've fixed the crate pooping, the stress induced destruction, the constant pacing & whining, but if I'm gone 1-2 days or more she shuts down. We're still working on that through enrichment, exercise, reinforcing the calm behaviors but she is 5 years old now. We do a great job managing it, but it's not owner-induced behavior.

How did you fix the crate pooping? Mine is house trained. Poops and pees outside only. Except when I leave her home (in the crate). Within 5 minutes she has pooped. Any suggestions you can offer?

    • @jesslane4363
      @jesslane4363 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I just got a 17 week old puppy and she refuses to go outside. She did it only once, I rewarded her, and then once more. Never did it again. I literally stand outside with her in the freezing cold for an hour each time. She won't go even when she was just pacing and panting in the house. Then when I finally go back in she immediately relieves herself somewhere in the house. When I have to go to work and leave her in the crate (after I feed her in there and she goes in by herself while I AM home all the time) I come back to poop smeared EVERYWHERE. I have no idea how she gets poop all over the wires on the crate, the walls, the floor. It's disgusting and extremely frustrating.

The best way to deal with aggression, nervousness, chewing, peeing or pooping in the house, it’s caused by a build up of energy now converted to nervous energy, a good long walk as much as you can preferably daily or every other day will put an end to these problems, also having a calm energy around your fur baby will put him/ her into a calmer energy, I bought a dog whistle from Temu for 8 bucks when my Westie starts barking too much out in the yard I press the Dog Whistle and he comes back into the house immediately WOW!

My 6mo xl American bully has severe separation anxiety and has been like this since I got him at 8wks. I have done everything possible to crate train him.. and he still will freak in the kennel once my truck leaves. He poops every time and then rolls in it and flings it everywhere. If I bring him with and he sits in the truck he will bite the dashboard and claw it and do his yell/scream till he sees me again. I have two young kids, now a 3rd on the way..he usually sleeps on my bed as I can’t get him to sleep anywhere else. He has made a bad habit of waking me up every hour. Either to play with the other dog, yell/whine in my face, or to potty. Other than crate or night time, he is a very smart, obedient, loving companion. I am totally frustrated and sleep deprived at this point. I do not know why he has this separation anxiety, he’s been like that since I got him. I’m ready to rehome at this point, though we paid a lot of money for him.. I feel totally stuck and just do not know what to do.

He is fine in kennel with us in the room. He runs away and hides from any strangers. The only ones he is secure with is the immediate family. He is a cocker spaniel born and breed with elderly breeders. Is his separation from adopting him so late as a puppy or something else. With us he is a Normal, happy and obedient puppy

Was there any follow up to this? Currently having to deal with this awful situation. I seriously take my puppy on hours long walks (no exaggeration) let her out after every meal. And she will literally save it all day so she will go on her crate in herself. I give her huge praise and reward on the very rare occasions she does go outside but it makes no difference. I am at wits end getting up every day before work to clean her and the crate.

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I don’t let my 4 month old puppy drink or eat after 7:30pm take him to his last pee and poop break around 9pm and he does poop while outside, I always set my alarm every 3 hours to go back and take him out to potty but he ends up pooping “we’ve had a couple accidents by now” whether it’s pee or poop. He’s also still learning to stay in his crate and Barks continuously so maybe he uses his stomach muscle a lot more causing him to go potty in his crate? I’m at loss.

I have a German Shepherd, almost 3 years old. He was neutered under a year, but I've not had any issues with him till recently. I am 8 months pregnant and he started destroying things/pottying in his crate or the house/ and literally ripping metal pieces off of his crate. He has great obedience skills, I walk him and play with him, but for some reason he still has terrible separation anxiety when I leave the house, even just for 15 minutes (leave as in drive away, not being in the yard). Not sure what to do? Vet said it may be a reaction to my pregnancy, but doesn't know if it will stop after I give birth or not.

I can't take mine to kennels. She barks all day and shreds and eats her bedding at night (even her own bedding that she'd slept on without issue since I got her). I've tried 2 different kennels with very different styles but same effect. I'm looking for a house sitter instead now. At home was the same when I first got her, barking and throwing herself at the door to get out as soon as I left the house (regardless of how tired I got her and how relaxed she was, the moment I headed for the door it was all on!) it's taken me 5 months to build up to being able to leave her on her own all day. Any ideas or am I resigned to paying for a house sitter?

I don’t see how a board and train helps or solves separation anxiety? Once the dog gets back home and to his/her normal routine...the separation anxiety begins all over again. I hate how long it takes and the management involved but the dog needs to be desensitised to periods of isolation and the sight of their owner leaving. Or you could “flood” the dog which is risky and unfair.

I really really wish I knew about the effects of early neutering. I had my boy axel neutered at 6 months old (it was a agreement between me and the kennel I got him from because he has a heart murmur). He’s a full blooded Long hair German Shepard. He’s very good out in public and on leashes since I’ve gotten him. I had no clue as to the effects of having him neutered that early but I will most definitely not be doing it again. He has severe separation anxiety when I leave for work in the morning. Hes been trying to rip the bottom parts of the wire crate off. He is a crate pooper too. I take him out to potty every hour when I am home and when I go to leave I take him out so he doesn’t poop in the crate. Sometimes he will poop and sometimes he won’t but the end result is always ends in coming home to a wire crate covered in poop along with himself and the flooring around the kennel. I’m really scratching my head trying to figure out a solution. He’s a great dog and is smart as a tac, but I’m literally clueless on how to help his separation anxiety. Any input you have would be welcomed. I don’t whoop him or hit him for pooping in the kennel because I don’t want to hurt him for missing me and my wife.

We have serious issues with our rescue dog with this…I cannot leave the house without her pooping or peeing in the crate. Please, please send us info on how to help her (and myself!). It is reaching a breaking point for me - daily dog baths, huge messes, etc. The rescue group we got her from did not tell us how messed up she was, and it is heartbreaking. I want her life to be enjoyable. I don’t want to drug her (which doesn’t work anyway), and continuing this same route is not feasible, either. We have had her for 6 months. Giving her back is not an option, but I need to be able to fix this for all of our sanity’s sake…

Hey. I had the same circumstance to you… I said goodbye to her yesterday after 14 months… I tried setting cameras up to see what was going on and if there was any seperation anxiety there. Nothing. She was very very calm and comfortable, and her behaviour showed to be a choice….
She stopped all together for about 4 months… but then started again…
Did you manage to overcome your issues…??? I feel like I tried everything… and I lost every time…

I have a 3 months old Rottweiler pup. I live on a college campus and people always want to pet him which I usually always allow and it is made him very friendly with strangers. Is there any detriment to this? Can it lead to any behavior issues apart from leash pulling?

Alejandro Consuegra I think it should be fine! If your puppy shows no fear or aggression towards the people who want to pet him and feels comfortable with it. When my swiss shepherd was a puppy and everyone wanted to pet him, he didn't like it at all. It made him a little bit reactive towards humans (he's very anxious because of bad genes. Didn't get him from a breeder). Just watch your dog and pay attention to it's body language. Tell people to not pet your dog if it backs off or shows other signs of discomfort :)
