I allways amazes me how someone can get on a bike they have obiviousley never ridden before and pull away without familiarising themselves with the controles first .
Before you ride a bike, please look at the controls. If you cant cancel the turn signal stop safely and work it out. Other than that I enjoyed watching your vid.
+Mr. Short awesome, you will be happy. If you find one it will be the perfect learner. It's decently quick and pretty stout. That 800 i rode was his first bike and hes had his for 7 years. Stood up to a low speed parking lot drop too.
Henrik Kurz Greetings I’m just about to own this bike.. I’m a beginner wanna know how you felt riding this bike as a first time.. share your experience please.. appreciate it
@@carlosandleon Nonsense. I don't know how it is in the US, but in Europe we learn how to ride on 650 or 700 cc motorcycles. I own a F800S as my first bike. It's ideal.
One would hope that even a learner would familiarize themselves with the turn indicator controls before setting off on a bike. Yes, the BMW indicator controls are weird, and I am not defending them. When I first got my F800GS I nearly launched myself into an intersection when I inadvertently rolled on some throttle while reaching for the cancel button. Not a good layout!
@@alexanderhardy971 Love it, just done a four day tour of Normandy. Better on gas than the TRX, more comfort and plenty of power. Handles well too. I'd say it's better, ABS, ESA, modes etc also present.

nice review ! well i maybe found the upgrade i was looking for after 2 SV's 650S, for the moment i don't have anything i'm travelling around the world. i just loved my svs. i'am a commuter/fun/track/travel motocycle enthusiast, i do everything with it. I already looked back in time that bmw years ago between my 2 svs, but i readed some bad stuff about reliability for the 2006 models. in 2014 i was close to buy a 650 scarver, but it was 1 cylinder and a bit ugly and not so good in high speed corner. I owned an harley davidson 883 04 sporsters, and for sure i miss that cam belt and the smoothness you have in city. Well this bike is like a little more comfy, way better in brakes and more torque at low end, witch i 'm looking for. I like the style, it's under the sv for me but i like , it's like a baby k1200/1300s. I love definitively thoses bmw panniers looks. for someone ride trough paris, have to evolve in high density citys weigh for me is crucial. Vfr are nice but heaviers. I prefer the sound of the SV but this twin is like a boxter engine, pretty nice.
very nice review hey how tough is it to find parts etc for these bikes ? looking at a 2008 also how many miles will these engines go ? can they typically go 50,000 miles without much issue? thanks!
This bike is ENTIRELY UNSUITABLE as a learner. bike for the SIMPLE reason that even at 2500rpm it will launch forward due to its torque. Conversely, a 600cc 4cyl 110hp bike is like a puppy under 5000rpm therefore a beginner can keep it at low rpm and thus minimize the risk.
This was the first bike I learned on. Besides a 200 dirt bike in MSF class, I hadn't ridden anything else. It was great to learn on and great to grow into.
Then you have no idea about motorcycles. Every single review state that this bike is extremely great as a starter. New comers are way too scared to give it some.
I own a F800S (in yellow). It's my first bike. And no, it will not lurch forward at 2500 rpm. It's really docile. The F800S really is a great starter bike.
Did you just start riding motorcycles? Or you're a slow learner? Definitely NOT a learner bike. Quit reviewing bikes if something as simple as that eludes you.
I wish I still had mine. It was just wonderful.

Great! It's always tough to find TH-cam review about 7-15 year old vehicles but this is a good one.
Great bike...mine 2007...super nice handling....BTW...to cancel indicators.. press cancel button 😂

Awesome review! I own the very same bike, the turn signal cancel button is on the right just below the heated grips' switch lol
Nevermind.. I see you've found it
Really nice and informative review. You convinced me to get this one as my first bike.

Dude. When I first bought this bike. I pulled up at a petrol station to ask a guy if he could help figure out turning the indicators off.haha
Great bikes, I've had everything from a GP100 to an SV1000S, 2 x TRX850s, 2 x Firestorms, an F650, XSR700 and I love my 2017 GT.
How do you find it compared to the TRX? I'm going from the TRX and looking at these.

Hi I got the same one, and I need to buy a rear wheel bearing set, is it available in usa?
Nothing wrong with the ninja 400 but I do like the f800 too. I'm picking up an 09 with 6k miles for $4k
Dude, there's a signal cancelling button on the right handlebar. Lol. I love my 2007 F800S!

I have one! Red just like this...with LESS THAN 1 Thousand miles on it...seating in the garage...no issues with it...just don’t have time to ride....
Rusty Sagaoinit still have it?
Yellow triangle light , I have the same , whats the reason ?
about the selfcancelling. Just seen mine does that from time.
Thanks for the review!
Great review. "I don't know how to turn them off". Read the manual maybe?
Jesus...are self cancelling.....just like a car😂
So i was informed that is a tinted version of the factory Windscreen.
Can you carry a pasanger on this bike???
sure
Bit he sits on plastic

Would a 5,4 short guy like me fit this bike?
My girlfriend is 5,6 ish and she doesn't really fit.
I'd advise against this bike anyway, it's like playing minesweeper trying to find a good one.
Tom Unwin what's wrong with the bike?
I'm 5'3" and it fits fine.

Quit thinking of yourself as someone who can pass judgement on this if you don't understand why this is an excellent beginner bike.
