Four way stretch can be used for swimwear and you would line it anyway!

Mood usually includes a fabric list or adds a sticker with fabric info on all the pieces.

Was that last fabric actually interfacing? I’m so curious! What did you decide to do with the pepto pink knit? And I’m like you. When I buy clothing from the store I always go with solid black and dark grey, but when I’m fabric shopping I choose prints (especially animal which I always hate when I’m buying clothes), I’ve been loving florals which I normally hate, and I usually go for color. She. I get. Better at garment sewing I plan to get this box and their trim box. But there’s nothing I could do with all the horrid white outside of dying it or using it for mock ups.

Your sheer white (the one described as ribbon or tablecloth) may be an organza. Many uses -- you can make little gift bags, use in costumes or even a curtain. A few months ago I purchase a 10lb mystery box from Fabric Wholesale Direct. It too was a mixed bag (...or box) but fun. Interfacing, evening brocade, crystal organza, some poplin, satin. Large pieces (like 10 yards of organza, 4 of aqua satin).

Oh how fun! I haven’t looked into that one so maybe that will be my next adventure box! And I did sort of wonder about organza in the back of my mind, but since I’ve never worked with it I wasn’t confident. Maybe that is indeed what it is! Will have to start looking up some projects for that and see what fun thing I can make with it! Thank you for the thought on that! 🤗

Maybe use that white table cloth type fabric to make a toile with? If you have little girls in your life that pink athletic would make great leotards.

Thanks for the unboxing, gosh most are not useful for me too many BLACK and sheer!

Totally understand! I really enjoyed the box, but I can see how it wouldn’t work for everyone. My first box was a much more “practical” box in terms of mostly solid colors, some denim, some wool, etc. It’s definitely a risk with a mystery box, but very fun!

I'm an old/new sewer. Started with felt Barbie clothes & furniture projects as a kid. Moved to making garments for myself in Home Ec. Made clothes for myself & sons in the 70s through 1998. Stopped sewing as I was fed-up with all the critics from my professional seamstress mother. Now that she's passed on, I finally gave myself permission to start again. But I find myself stuck in COTTON only, no button holes/zippers, etc. I need to challenge myself, but need a service that gives me fabric types, projects, instructions, etc. Does anyone know if that exists?

Hey Robin! Love that you are sewing again and finding joy in it! There are some sewing subscription boxes around here and there, though I’m not sure how in depth they are instruction wise, as the only one I’ve ever gotten went belly up. There is however, sewing academy by Mimi G which I can’t recommend enough. It is about $12 a month I believe and she has full instructional videos and great detail. Some of the projects are patterns, but many are learning to draft your own if that’s something you have any interest in. There is also Gertie’s Patreon subscription which leans in a 40s-60s vintage inspired fashion direction, but she releases a monthly pattern with video instruction as well as written instructions and is also extremely thorough. Maybe look into both of those and see if either interest you? They’ve definitely been a huge help for me! I also love Tilly and the Button’s book on working with stretch fabrics. Hope that helps and enjoy the sewing journey! 💕
