For me Bowie will remain as the most beautiful and fascinating male in the world: so British, so cute, whatever he did was perfect and not at all disharmonious or disturbing. Faithfull's voice is so strong and peculiar ; she is also very amazing and the two of them together really works. I love them and thank them for what they have given to the world.
People are too sensitive and, ¨politically correct.¨ I met people at Bowie´s concerts and I wasn´t sure what gender some were and it didn´t matter. Bowie was an icon! I remember the audience being described as, ¨girls, boys and those who knew not what they were.¨ I think they knew. Somehow, Bowie was able to bring everyone together and it was wonderful! Wow. This is a great example of Marianne's voice transitioning from the delicate "As Tears Go By" of the 60's to the glass-gargling "Broken English" of the 80's. Drugs + smoking constantly + screaming insanely + not sleeping = Marianne's vocal changes.
Drugs & alcohol were factors in her ever changing vocals. She also suffered coupled-laryngitis which also changed her vocals. At 71, she just released a brilliant album “Negative Capability” which includes a few re-recordings of her previous work, As Tears Go By & Witches Song great record
