I was standing not that far to your left watching for my daughter. I will not lie it brought a few tears to my eyes It was her game and knowing how hard she worked to get here. I was and still very proud of her.
What an awesome thing, to see and hear, the U of M marching band is and continues to be worth paying to see. Hail to the Victors still gives me chills.
The U of M Marching Band is second to none! Have a nephew who played euphonium for them. A very demanding choice for any young person. Very proud of ALL OF THEM!

I never understood why, the band people in US movies are portrayed to be not cool. music is pretty cool and we respect the hard work and talent it takes..
Say, what's that comin' down the track? A mean machine that's red & black! Ain't nothing finer in the land, Than the Georgia Redcoat Marching Band. #HBTD.
This is in front of Revelli Hall (the rehearsal hall for the Michigan Marching Band) on Hoover Ave! What you're watching is the "Revelli Exit" that happens 60 minutes before kickoff - 11am for noon games. From there, the band marches to the stadium. If you're interested, there's also the Drumline Stepshow that happens 30 minutes earlier. 90 minutes before kickoff (10:30am for noon games), the Michigan Drumline performs cadences and traditionals on the steps of Revelli Hall for fans! Go Blue! Feel free to follow the band on Facebook or Instagram for more information!
To much “Razzamatazz” for my liking. For marching bands see the British Armed Forces, Royal Marines, Brigade of Guards or Massed bands of the Highland Regiments.

Are u kidding me! This is a big college band!!! Disgusting! I expect precision, covers or hats, should be all worn the same. As well as horn angles as well as snap. I expect military precision. This is what’s happening all across america. Standards are dropping EVERYWHERE. This look like a small town high school band
Though granted I hate this band above all because I tried out for the Ohio State University Marching Band this past season, not all college bands are the same. Some only accept professionalism and precision like OSUMB, some accept more fun and peppy styles. OSUMB is cool and everyone knows them but Michigan has the capability to bring in more pep and build moral when the audience sees how much fun they are having. You should see how crazy the stands get when Michigan forms their M during pregame. The stands sound like they will fall apart when you compare them to an OSUMB ramp entrance. OSUMB destroys your mind with how much extra practice you are expected to do outside of normal practice. You know each school has most members that are full time college students. As much as I care about the standards I have to hold when in OSUMB, I would much rather worry about my class grades than the speed of my horn flashes and toe point of my chair step during monday challenges. Plus this band has made some really reputable show ideas this year. They turned off the stadium lights during their night light show of 9/11 and they also did a show collaberation with the Michigan State Marching Band and they all were on the field together doing the thriller dance during a drum break. I hate their pregame and I hate their horn angles but this bands cool and I bet its probably more fun to be in overall.
Perhaps you should move to Russia!! Or to China!! Or to North Korea!! Or perhaps you should simply chill out!! These are just kids who are spending at least part of their time trying to get a college degree!!
It's a college band. It's primary purpose is morale. Do the angles suck? Yeah. The covers, well, the only thing I can guess it has something to do with hair since they probably don't have military grooming standards. Also, it's only the first game. Typically with marching bands, fundamentals get better over time (then they drop off and you spend a week pounding them back into their heads). So, yeah, they have some cleaning up to do. Heck, compared to some some bands, this is very precise. Compared to a drum corps, this is laughable. So you need to understand that each college's band has its own priorities. The important thing is, the band gets its mission accomplished.

Oh how true, it would be super cool if each European soccer team had a section in the stadium for a marching band.
