Luka isn’t injury prone but I think he isn’t responsible with his injuries. You can tell that he loves playing basketball that he plays through a bunch of injuries but he NEEDS to take better care of himself. I don’t know if it’s conditioning or something else but there is a problem with him.

He never played less than 65 games in a season he is very available hes never been out for a long stretch, the issue is that its the same nagging left leg that just didn't fully heal and its about time that he doesn't come back any earlier than when thiat leg is fully healed.

No other player gets this kind of weird scrutinty about whether he takes his body seriously except Zion, and Zion 100% warrants it obviously. Luka has dominated on the floor in a historic way, has postseason success, and has played a pretty high % of his games (esp compared to other stars), it's usually just a game here and there. It's dissatisfied
ridiculous that virtually NO MATTER WHAT he does, he still gets slandered as some fat and lazy slacker.

@@michaelhaydenbell mostly because people scrutinize his body, they always labelled it as fat and slow. And there was a defense issue, so obviously that issue played a part which connects luka as being lazy... @@michaelhaydenbell You guys gotta stop giving Luka the victim card. I’m not saying Luka is lazy but there is a some problem with his conditioning or injury problem. Everyone gives superstars crap when they see them get overweight to a degree and people still do it to James Harden. Luka is a good player but it definitely looks like he doesn’t take care of himself as much as he should. But Luka definitely does get unfairly criticized for some things when it’s not in his control tho.

I completely agree with you about how long Luka will be out... two weeks minimum to at least a month, and I'm leaning toward the month layoff. As an NBA fan I've always feared the injury that comes from just playing basketball to any contact injury because the "Ghost" injury was always going to happen because of an underlying serious lingering problem. Those types of injuries almost always mean time... a lot of time.

Slightly, I love your analysis like no other, but you face planted on this McMahon comment, and here's why...
Although it is "possible" that McMahon didn't mean to imply anything insidious about Luka... "Never made it back on defense" is not the same as "Wasn't able to make it back on defense" and are not remotely similar in their intent. McMahon made a choice to state it the first way when the second way was just as easy to do and far more accurate in describing what actually happened. Please be careful not to cover for other analysts at the expense of your own integrity. I don't think you are doing so intentionally, but it's not a good look here. Stay true to yourself and tell it like it is... like you always do.

This needs to be a wakeup call to Luka and the Mavs. The amount of workload he's taking on that weight is not sustainable. He needs to drop 10-20 pounds and find that middle ground where he's strong enough to bully the smaller defenders while being agile against the bigger guys. The way he plays the game is not that of an injury prone guy and the fact that he's constantly getting injured is a tell that his body is not handling the extra stress his weight is putting on the legs.

IMO he needs to shed at last 15 lbs to avoid any more injuries and have a prolonged career. When he played in the Euro league his frame was slender and he was quick at 200. Don't worry too much about Luka. He comes from the Balkan peninsula. He'll be fine.
Mavs have a good rooster this year and can win games without him. They are better with Luka, but all they need is to get to the PO.
It doesn't matter if Mavs have the home court advantage. They will always have the best player in the series on the court, and that is more important than having the home court advantage.
At least in the NBA. Now, if this was Euroleague, home court would matter because you don't want to play too many games in the opponents arena since fans are likely going to be throwing lighter, mobile phones, coins, flash bangs and other stuff at you.
In the NBA, the most dangerous thing that can happen to a player is if someone in the first row spills his drink and they slip on it. O and fans chanting
    DEFENSE, DEFENSE.

I know it would take some INSANE performances to be an MVP contender, but I hope he can atleast use the chance and go crazy, get the love and attention he deserves. Knowing Ky he will have some disapointing games but I really hope he can lock in like yday 4th quarter

Kyrie is way too talented of a player to be lacking in the awards and achievements department so I really do hope this season he can get some rewards and shut some people up like an all star team, all nba first team and a top 5 mvp candidate would be great for Kyrie. He is 32 turning 33 soon so he doesn't have a lot of time left so this is pretty much one of if not his last true attempt of having an mvp caliber season.

It's not like he's a high flyer and putting himself at risk while airborne. He MUST start taking his fitness seriously. Look at LeBron's games played over his career. I would say that Luka is mid-level injury-prone. He's not up there with the guys you named like kawhi leonard, Joel embiid or Paul George but he does get injured more than the average NBA player in my opinion. I think a lot of it comes from his play style and unfortunately some of it probably does come from the fact that he does not always show up for the beginning of the season in the best shape. I know that he figures it out after about a month and becomes one of the best players in the NBA but I think he is carrying a little bit too much weight and it's having an effect on his health. I hope this doesn't linger too long because the Mavericks are a much easier team to beat without Luka doncic. Kyrie is great but you need those two guys or else they're just going to try to shut Kyrie down and that's probably going to end up giving us a few more L'S then we might want. When you have Luka doncic and Kyrie Irving out there it's very hard to play defense against them but it gets a lot easier if you take one of them out of the equation.🎉🎉🎉

He's already missed too many to qualify for awards, so I'd say let him heal until he's declared 100% by the doctors, then go 1-2 weeks past that (depending on how they're performing). They already have it set up to try to acquire a PF, so maybe rent a player who can give you points and assists or rebounds. This team is good enough to get back to the Finals....even without Luka. If Kyrie gets hurt with this lineup, they're going to drop 15 out of the next 16 and might miss the playoffs entirely. Find a real PG or SG who can be a solid contributor and deal with the glut of players after Luka comes back and stays healthy.
