Knitting: Pressed Flowers MAL, video 3: some pressed flowers shawl tips

- April 2023 starts our Pressed Flowers Make-a-Long, which focuses on the series of patterns written by Amy Christoffers centered around her Pressed Flowers motif. It's a great motif because it uses garter and stockinette mosaic, as well as flat knitting or knitting in the round, depending on the pattern. She has written patterns for a shawl, cardigan, hat and cowl (listed below). We also have a few kits (yarn only) for the hat and small cowl, as well as the shawl and large cowl. Cardigan amounts will vary by size.
These videos are meant to assist with the pattern elements rather than replace the written pattern. This third video has a few tips for the shawl in particular: how to understand the directions after row 25, as well as MR and ML in context of this shawl.

Very helpful omg. Thank you 🎉
Thank you so much, I’m fairly certain I wouldn’t have been able to navigate this pattern without your videos but thanks to your clear and thorough instruction I understand it perfectly! Also loved the cat appearances 💖
Thank you
Thank you so much for this. I was really struggling with the increasing and understanding the charts. Thanks to you i had a light bulb moment X
Thank you so much for making this video! I’ve purchased the pattern a while ago and was scared to start it as I’ve never knitted a triangle shape, so this video helped a great deal! ❤️❤️❤️
Glad it was helpful! ❤️
This is a fabulous and very useful tutorial!! You do a great job explaining how the pattern is worked. Thank you!!
I wish that there was a kAL video that we could purchase as I'm a visual learner. Don't think I'll be attacking this project. Sure wish I could though. Xo
Thank you 🙏🏽 for the videos amazing tutorial u made me understand better ❤
So helpful! I just started my shawl this morning and watched all 3 videos and have a better understanding of how it all comes together! Thanks so much.
Excellent. 👍👍Thank you ever so much.
Thank you Rebeca, very helpful. I'm exactly ready to start row 25, so your tips came just in time.😊
Very helpful, thanks!
Amazing, thanks so much for sharing 💗
Thanks!
I can’t believe this. I was just looking at the sweater on raverly. I may have to give it a try. Looks amazing
I am thinking about doing the sweater so I’m sure these tips will also help for that in understanding her pattern writing style. Thanks!
So helpful ❤ Thank you.
Your video has been so helpful! Thank you!
I’m just starting and wondering where the border comes in. Is this attached afterwards?
Do you have a video for the border? Thank you so much!
I just had to get the Avena pattern. I have yarn for the spirals in my stash. I found and ordered the main color. ❤
Thank you so much for making this video, I started the shawl last night and was very unsure about which strand to use for the make 1s.
Glad it was helpful!❤️
Hello ~ I've found your videos most helpful as a newer knitter and my first try at mosaic knitting and almost no experience with charts. I've worked up the main pattern repeats in the shawl but am not understanding the border section. I haven't spotted any tips in your videos about that portion of the instructions. Do you happen to have any advice on how to follow the directions for that section? Thanks so much!
I really love your instructions here it really helped me get going with the pattern. Thank you.
So I know you’re quite good at these patterns, but I am stuck now where I get into repeating rows 25 through 56 four more times, she makes a notation of 2 additional repeats of the 16 stitch pattern on each subsequent repeat, what does that mean??? I would so appreciate the clarification. I know it’s not your pattern but I’m sure you have figured it out and it looks like you were done pretty much. if you would be so kind to share what you interpreted that to mean, I would appreciate it. 🙏🤔
It means each time you repeat the chart you’ve added enough stitches to do that 16 stitch repeat more times- keep following the chart and it should work!
I’m still not understanding where to actually put the 16 repeated stitches each row…
Did you ever figure out where the 16 repeated stitches go on each row?
In the vest pattern, she says to work in plain stitch. If you already mentioned that im sorry, haha. This pattern is working my nerves. What is plain stitch? Garter? Knit?
I love the yarn and colors you chose for the shawl. What yarn and colors are you using?
I used Feederbrook Entropy DK in Luminous Flux and the solid was Forest. Luminous flux will look a bit different every time, and Forest has never looked as dark on reorder. A close approximation is our Juniper Moon Farm Patagonia in Juniper.
I agree! Such gorgeous colors
Thank you
Thanks!
Thank you so much Carla!
