Great video! Here in Germany we call it „Bananenfeige“ aka banana fig. Mine is one year old and has not fruited yet. It‘s about 60 cm tall from the root ball and has no side branches. I‘m in zone 7a, Cologne. Do you think I should cut the apical bud during its dormancy this winter 2023? I just want to eat the main crop. Thanks for your advise😍
Hi! Cutting the apical bud will encourage it to create side branches. It’s up to personal preference, but I like my branching a little higher. In your situation I would leave it alone this winter. Check out my pruning video for some ideas. Good luck!
