    It is very satisfying when you get to the end of the day, you’re heading back to the station and that truck is completely empty.

    Its a tough job. This is not a free ticket folks. I think its better to get in when in your early 20s . Your body should be able to handle the physical demands of being in every type of weather and be able to deliver regular mail , packages, boxsb, magazines every day. & If you have a fear of dogs ....forget this job. 🐕

    This was very helpful. I was writing a short narrative in my English class revolving around a mail man, and I will certainly be keeping this information in mind.

I've gone it for the last 6 years and all it did was bring me home to a child that doesn't even know me and a wife who is unhappy because I didn't have any time with her. Why would I risk getting a divorce and having to pay child support and alimony when it's a better option to get a job that pays the same for less hours.

    Just started it sucks . Shadowed an employee for a day. Then they just throw you out there. First day working 180 packages parts of town I’ve never been to and managers call constantly getting you in a rush . They don’t even make schedules they expect you to call everyday at 6am to see if u work wtf

    They should have thrown in a short piece about how bad the USPS screws part time carriers, CCA's. They get screwed bad their first year, crap hours, crap routes with no benefits. Then after a year they qualify for the insurance, but not the pension. If they are lucky, maybe someone will retire within their first few years and they will get offered full time, but that is seldom the case anymore. I knew CCA's that worked for 6 years until they got a full time career carrier job and the part time clerks, PSE's, it was even longer, a few people waited more than 10 years, one guy waited 16 years. It isn't worth it. The USPS was a good job and a good organization to work for at one time. Now they've downsized their employee pool to save money which has meant larger routes, less full time employees and every imaginable awful shift for part timers to work just to save money. And what I mean by that, for clerks, is only coming in for 2-3 hour on a Saturday evening or 2-3 hours on a Sunday morning and never getting 2 days off in a row. Working 10 hours one week then 50 the next week. How do you plan a budget? But, the management doesn't care until you tell them you are quitting and suddenly they get concerned. Its a joke and the only job I ever just flat out quit without giving so much as a week's notice. Talk to a long term tenured USPS carrier or clerk or better yet a part timer who has been in the job for more than a couple years. They are probably dedicated employees doing a great job but they will tell you the truth about working for that organization. One more item, I'm talking about an office that is running at least 10 city routes and a few rural routes. Not the small one horse town PO box only offices. Good luck and to all USPS employees, keep up the good work.

    • @Eric-mc5to
      @Eric-mc5to ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WeezeBadfishHalen4 yes it is. And it’s basically because us younger people aren’t gonna deal with the “wait 16 years for a route” bullshit like the older people did lol why stay at a place that doesn’t benefit you. a rural lady in my old office is at the retirement age and only been a regular for like 3 years, so dumb. But now you get ptf/full time benefits at 2 years even if you’re not a regular, and even before that some people were making ptf around 3 years. It’s honestly not as hard as people make it out to be if you’re in shape, you walk around and put stuff in boxes and say hi to people lol I do 12’s all week

    One day about a week before Christmas, I had 320 packages. That’s in addition to the heavier than normal mail volume because of the Christmas cards. We had to come in earlier and deliver like 60. Then come back and set up your route, then deliver the rest. If all of them don’t fit, you have to come get the rest once the truck has room.

    I got offered a job at USPS. Watched youtube videos about it. Learned it was part time (no Benifits), covering 3 different rural routes requiring me to drive my own car in which I needed to drive on the right side(wrong side). Thought about it for a day and politely declined. No thanks my dudes.

    I've delivered ashes several times .say a prayer. Loved the problem of load shift he faces everyday with parcels, been there done that. Dogs what can I say they're territorial and that electronic collar wont protect you in their yard space though you are a business invitee. Pepper spray can injure you and homeowners get the ass if you have to use it on their dog. Something better maybe a small air horn . Which will make most charging dogs pull up when they come out from below a porch or wherever they're hiding. This sound gives you time to safely retreat. But you know you have your hands and arms full with letters, mags, parcels and the ubiquitous but necessary scanner. God bless him and all those carriers who in all weather deliver your property in 120 degree steak cooking trucks in summer and sub freezing ice box in winter. These people deserve every nickel because in many cases after 10, 20, or 30 years they may leave with a tiny pension and a repetitive motion injury to hand, knee, ankle, shoulder, wrist, or atrial fibrillation like me . But you know something they do it for their customers everyone of whom they want to do right by because they're people people in an age of smart machines that show no respect.
