  • Warren Gorge is 21kms north of Quorn in the Flinders Ranges South Australia. We came there for two nights before moving to Quorn where we marvel at the town’s history and watch the Silo Light Show. On our way to the Rawnsley Park Campgroundwe check out the old Kanyaka Homestead ruins, this and lots more as we move around in the Flinders.

I was going to stop to see the silo light show in Quorn but because we couldn't go on the train we just passed through the town. The town was amazing in the way it has been kept. I can see why the movies love it. We stayed 3 nights up in Wilpena pound. I heard a lot about Rawnsley Park. If I ever go back I'll give them a go

The Quorn light show is well worth the time to view as it details the history of the area without spending too much time on any one point. Wilpena Pound has a great campground, pity it is so expensive during the peak times. Rawnsley Park is your typical outback bush type camping with the availability of power hook up if you wish.

Loved the wattle flower, always been one of my favourite flowers. Seeing the mountains in your split view took my breath away!! I had forgotten just how beautiful the Flinders ranges are, we drove as far as Hawker & then turned back as the end of December is not a good time for traveling in that area especially as our car back then didn't have airconditioning.
I was blown away by the colours & always wanted to go back but it never happened. My first introduction to the ranges was seeing one of Albert Namatjira's paintings as a child of around 10 at school & falling in love with the colours & to see the Flinders reminded me so much of his artwork & the incredible fact that his paintings were true to life.
So I am really looking forward to seeing next week's video & probably ones after that as well. I also just love the gum trees & the countryside such beautiful places to camp & enjoy!! I could almost smell the bush when I was watching the video. 😀

December would certainly have been a hot time of the year to visit the area. The colours and the gum trees along the creeks are a sight to envy, we love it.

Never been to Rawnsley but it looks awesome. A friend and I took my Mum to the Flinders for her 80th camping in a camper trailer. It was a great time and the scenery was amazing especially the colour changes during the day. Thanks for sharing your trip. Cheers Cheryl

Thank you Cheryl. I don't think things have changed at all in the area since we first started going that way, still almost untouched away from the campgrounds keeping it as beautiful as ever.

I stayed at Rawnsley Park for a week in March this year in one of the Eco Villas. Loved it there so much. Did lots of amazing adventures from there which I think I saw a sneak peek of in your following episode. Flinders Ranges is such an incredibly beautiful place ❤️❤️

The colours are glorious ... often breathtaking. These videos deserve a much larger following. Balm for the soul after a 12 hour nursing shift.

im slightly biased towards SA , spent my childhood camping and waking up in the flinders ranges , back then it was so quiet and solitary , maybe it still is ? the light seemed to be more vibrant and full of colour as the sun came up , lol might also have been my young eyes

Great video Mick, I started school at Quorn Area School & my younger brother was born there. My father was the policeman there in the early 70’s. I don’t know the size of the unpowered bush camping area at Rawnsley Park Station but I as a child camped there many times & still continue now. All the best in your future travels.

Quorn hasn't changed very much over the years other than becoming a tourist destination. As a kid, I spent many nights there with my grand parents back in the 60's.

We run with two UHF radios. It is something that wasn"t planned, just how it all worked out.
