    Considering their age, I think the older generation of spifire libraries should be cheaper. They still sound quite good, and I think it's such a waste to make them all so expensive after so many years.

    It should be noted that on Appassionata for the least amount of sampler interference you should turn the Legato Offset to 150ms, and Release up to max.
    Otherwise, the plugin is compromising the sound of the samples in the name of playability.
    Unless at max, the release artificially end too soon, and with legato offset anything lower than 150ms unnaturally shortens the legatos.
    The actual effect on playability is negligible but the sound difference is clear, and by default it's not at these settings.

      So, right now I’m trying to decide among hairloom, Abbey Road 2 or Appassionata. I already have all the Spitfire Kontakt libraries showed on this video. From the Kontakt Spitfire Audio or any other Kontakt library showed in this video which one do you think is closest to the sound and friendly user than Appassionata? Please let me know! Firstly, thank you for this video, the piece itself is very warm. I certainly hope to hear the rest some day.
    Secondly, as a visually impaired creator myself, I would hugely benefit from the relevant time-stamps if you were able to put them in?
    Right now, I can’t make an informed decision on which library to buy, because I cannot see which one is currently being played, when it is being played.
    With time-stamps, your video is more accessible, and easier to navigate as a previous commenter suggested, but the benefit for everyone else is of course, the ease of making an A/B comparison.
    If you have the time to address this someday, users such as myself would be grateful to you.
    Thanks.

    Of those that have come out I only have Appassionata, Abbey Road Two has surprised me, it has a very special sound.
    As for Albion One I think it is very overrated. In certain aspects his years are noticeable. As for Legatos, which is what we are talking about, 8DIO has some very interesting things.

    Interesting comparison, I like the use of the same phrase, and video production used to communicate was really good. I own all the libraries used. There was one thing that bothered me - for the Abbey Road Two - you put as PRO "Warm Sound" and the con being "Synthetic Sound" - which makes me ask - which is it? The only thing I could think is that the string texture might come through more in their samples - perhaps making it a bit "synthetic". I saw one video with Hans Zimmer where he said at the start of a project - it becomes a "Sound Safari" where you have to go looking for that right sound - and that is what I see drives my collecting sound libraries. I appreciate the work that goes into these videos - and in their own way -they can be inspiring to revisit what we have.

    • @miguellinares
      @miguellinares  ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly, each project is different, not only the musical composition is important but also the sound palette, even the mix. Regarding Abbey Road, the recording quality is excellent, but there is a lack of humanization and expressiveness in the musician's performance, which is why it sounds somewhat robotic. Thank you for your words.

      Performance Samples has great free solo cello legato as a intro to their Pacific Strings and I think a violin solo leg too somewhere - but you need full Kontakt to use them. If you don't have full Kontakt, try Arcane by Embertone for their rather nice, but slightly limited Friedlander violin. It's in the individual patches once you complete the game ;)

    I don‘t get it!
    Soloist string ensembles are judged sounding ‚synthetic‘ here ? Possibly people do not know anymore how real string instruments sound with all these megalomaniac hollywood washed junk unison sound we got… B.t.w. the last should not even be inside this comparison, as it does not aim to be like these others, overprocessed, unnatural sounding stacked sound, that multiplies to ridiculously huge amounts of virtual performers with polyphonic note...

    • @miguellinares
      @miguellinares  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know perfectly well what a solo string ensemble sounds like, I'm a violist, and even friends who play strings have told me that the sound is quite artificial in this particular library. There is a long way to go to reach realism in solo string libraries.

    • @supportdigitster4128
      @supportdigitster4128 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@miguellinares So this probably traces down to tastes and articulation usage. For my taste the last library sounds superior compared to these others reviewed here. This is probably because of the soloist divisi in the last, which is just incomparable to the other libraries reviewed, which all have unison sampled medium to large string ensembles, which by the way always will multiply unnaturally with each new note added.
