Just look at their faces, the way they stomp the ground. This isn't just a few chords, a few drumbeats to them, a few words on the lips. It's the strum of their heartstrings, the beat of their hearts, the melody of their soul. They believe in the beautiful songs they create, and they love with the same passion and care that others save for their wives or husbands or partners. The echo of the words they sing is the response of a million other voices, reaching out to them. This is a band to live throughout the generations.
Bwahahahaaaaa ... What does stomping have to do with being spiritual? It's a cultural thing, most attributed to folk music. Folk music has been around forever, but they brought it back with a fierceness. And the world thanks them.
Hi, this is a message for Marcus Mumford and the other sons of God. In the past 6 months I have begun to realize my spirituality. There have been drives home where I pulled over on the side of the road to bawl and shiver with the warmth of the Holy Spirit. I want to pass on a 'thank-you' to the group for writing songs that depict not only the scriptures I have begun to explore, but the true joy and love inside my heart. God Bless. -Adrienne, 18, British Columbia, Canada
I have no religion, but I still find ways to have faith everyday. to take happiness in good moral value and compassion. and it's all because of music. If somebody started a church of music, i'd join.
I agree music is so beautiful! And God created music it’s incredible gift from him! If you see this, I’d love to know why you’re not religious, and if you have ever heard the gospel?
What a great song by a great band. No digital effects, just good old fashioned music. It's so refreshing to know there's still good music out there today!
Some people say their english, welsh, scottish or those others who wont sapport 1 country but I know in my heart their british and we make good music so embrace it.
Like I said before I"m a pure 100% country girl and always will be but since George Jones and folks like them this is the best I have heard in years...........love them
Mumford & Sons write music that makes the listener feel as if he/she is being transformed into a SuperNova. The white hot truths of the Scotch-Irish-Appalachian tradition, and they carry this torch stupendously. May they carry it for the next 40 years, and lead pop music to a higher plane.
Don't worry about it not being popular. People like different kinds of music but who cares. If this song makes you happy then smile. You'll only make that smile go away by worrying about what songs are more popular than this one. you have 5,000 other people who like this song too so you're not the only one. Just keep smiling :)
I'm 20, and let me just say I have no life story or anecdote that relates to this video. I have no ex boyfriend or deceased loved one that reminds me of this song. I simply like this song.
They're directly inspired by American Folk music. Specifically Appalachian folk music. It isn't strictly folk music but for us who choose to listen to both I can hear the inspiration. Most people have never been exposed to good folk music. They're a good band to introduce the more traditional folk music.
I've had those rare occasions when the Singer becomes the one Sung too, when there is an enjoyment, a fulfillment in birthing a song, bringing it to life for others to hear and experience--- This video captures some of those intangible, unexplainable experiences. --I saw this, and was swept into the "life of the song"
Its this type of music that is missing from modern culture, No matter how crap I feel their music makes me get up and do a jig and at the very least hum and whistle along =)
Marcus Mumford has so much talent. While he is singing and strumming, he has to petals for his drums at his feet. I envy this man's talent and I am so happy that there is someone out there that actually makes real music now and days.
i will have to agree with all of you, they are sure amazing times 100!!!!!!!!! music is no doubt great for the soul these guys just keep kicking ass. cant wait to hear more more more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes! I was there. Well I didn't see them but I was at my grandmothers house and I was listening to them. :) They are amazing. They came because of the highschool and BBY chicken!
Taking a walk through the city with my dog having a mid life crisis, this was just what I needed lol. This band has gotten me through so much hoping it gets me through this too. ❤ love you guys
Would love to see Mumford and Sons come to Newfoundland, Canada. I think these lads' roots run deep and strong, like Newfoundlanders'. Kindred spirits.
Its God's gift they found each other by chance, to share their passion: the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. The lyrics and melodic magic combined together are phenomenal!
Go to any video of a hit from the 70's/80's/90's and you will find comments saying how great that time was for music and that they wish they could go back. Well I am glad that I am currently living in a time that has bands like Mumford and Sons.
Fantastic band! Absolutely one of the best to come out lately. Although, I don't see what's wrong with other songs like 'Sexy and I Know It'. Sure, songs like those are not musical marvels but they are fun, up-beat songs that are nice to listen to on a Friday night. I sing in choirs and plan on studying classical music but I still see nothing wrong with fun music. Sometimes, more musical and complex songs have an overbearing mood while in company with a lot of friends on a Friday.

True. They are a very spiritual band.
Egsackly!
Amen
Make that paragraph into lyrics and you will an extremely touching and emotional song

For such a well-known and talked-about band, this song is so damn underrated.
Obvious Bicycle isnt that what makes you appreciate it more though?
ShaunPeckhamSkate No.
It really is. This is one of my favorites from them ❤😰
i cant think of any other band that plays with as much passion as them
Dave matthews band
Gorillaz

Wow, this made my heart cry ❤❤❤
Listening to this song again in 2024, and it’s as refreshing as the first I heard it!

wait until the banjo drops
INTENSE. YOUR PROFILE PICTURE IS MY REACTION TO IT.
Why can't *all* mainstream music be this good
The best band if not one of the best bands I've ever heard in Live performances.
Would love to see them Live
Dawn Carlton It's magical. During the slower songs everyone gets really into it and sings quietly and soulfully together...it's unreal.
Like I said before I"m a pure 100% country girl and always will be but since George Jones and folks like them this is the best I have heard in years...........love them
When a song touches your soul then it's real art, just beautiful
Finally a band with REAL music
I listen to this song at the lowest point of my day and it makes me happy again :)

LOVE! Mumford and Sons has an energy and presence that can not be found anywhere else. They are AMAZING!
There's always been hope in music. Now there's hope in music that actually gets listened to by a lot of people and gets the spotlight.
6 years already... Time just sails away
Or rather... rolls away like a stone.
... okay, I'll show myself out.
+Julesdav I see what you did there, my good sir.

Tell me about it...next month it will be 5 years since they came to my hometown as part of the "Gentleman of the road" tour.

Thank you Mumford for being a part of my some of my best memories.
This has to be my favorite song from them and Babel
One of my favorites, too, but it's from "Sigh No More."
They really transcend all generations. I have met people as young as 12 and as old and 76 who can enjoy their music.
Mumford and Sons is my safe haven. Whenever times are troubled, I listen to ANY song by this brilliant group, and I am home.
they are like one of my favourite bands! so amazing talented!

THAT IS WHAT I CALL REAL MUSIC!!!!!!!!!
Good song, always liked the sound of a banjo.
I ask that question to myself all the time. But I am glad to find the few bands/artists I have that are this good. LOVE Sister Hazel.
anyone else love the way he yells think at 2:18
37 people must be deaf! How could you not like this song???
I love the strumming patterns they use.
I'm 20, and let me just say I have no life story or anecdote that relates to this video. I have no ex boyfriend or deceased loved one that reminds me of this song. I simply like this song.
I love Shakespeare's Macbeth reference he uses in the song
+Lip085 I love the Prodigal Son reference he makes even more :-) Great song!
Lip085 If you want references to good literature, Little Lion Man to Homer's Oddessey.
If all mainstream music was like this, then would Mumford and Sons be as special? ;)
2:50. Best part.
I know! Love it!
Robin Blend
Idk, 0:00-4:20 are all pretty fucking awesome 😉

I was born in the wrong generation. This music is great!

Its this type of music that is missing from modern culture, No matter how crap I feel their music makes me get up and do a jig and at the very least hum and whistle along =)
I could listen to mumford and sons all day everyday
Marcus Mumford has so much talent. While he is singing and strumming, he has to petals for his drums at his feet. I envy this man's talent and I am so happy that there is someone out there that actually makes real music now and days.
Music like this, is real music that actually takes talent and not computers to make it sound amazing!
I'm having a rough day. I know that plenty of people are getting it worse than myself, but man, I need this music right now.
This entire album has helped me through some really bad times. Thank You Mumford & Sons.
*single tear* when I read his comment, thank you good sir!
i will have to agree with all of you, they are sure amazing times 100!!!!!!!!! music is no doubt great for the soul these guys just keep kicking ass. cant wait to hear more more more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never liked banjo, but when it's played like this and with this kind of music....I find that I love it. Keep on keeping on. :)
The only thing I hate about this song is its too short. Absolutely love this song. I will see them next time they are in the Toronto area
You don't hear music like this every day, Mumford & Sons are truly legends :)
I literally don't understand how 42 people could dislike this song.
Yay for using the comments section to comment on the music!
I recently discovered Mumford and I keep thinking they can not get any better, then they go and blow my mind again.
Now I wonder... How have I managed to live these years without Mumford & Sons?

The point is, people have been missing out on Mumford and Sons this entire time!
Yes! I was there. Well I didn't see them but I was at my grandmothers house and I was listening to them. :) They are amazing. They came because of the highschool and BBY chicken!

See you in Toronto soon!!!
Would love to see Mumford and Sons come to Newfoundland, Canada. I think these lads' roots run deep and strong, like Newfoundlanders'. Kindred spirits.

been listening to their music for months now, and it just dosen't seem to get old...and that's saying a lot!
Is is extremely ironic that I find this music and electronic music incredibly entertaining? Cuz I'm pretty sure it is.
Go to any video of a hit from the 70's/80's/90's and you will find comments saying how great that time was for music and that they wish they could go back. Well I am glad that I am currently living in a time that has bands like Mumford and Sons.
