I like how they notice the faster riders and are able to push them up and not hold them back
to be honest, I wasn't able to practice what he was teaching until I was going at a faster pace, learned the fundamentals of how the track operates but I'm a hands on learner 🤣
It happens quite often between the beginner and intermediate groups especially. Sometimes people’s egos make them put themselves in the intermediate when they should be in beginner, some times a guy who’s done a few track days thinks they’re still a beginner but have got a lot faster, sometimes it’s just that last track day other people were on average a lot faster or slower than today, abs other times they just have a disparity in group sizes and they’ll try putting people in other groups and then realise they made a mistake, etc. it’s happened to me a few times, I actually had a little spell where I was well into the intermediate group at Philip island, but defo a beginner at broadford lol.

Just need to be aware of the Dunning-Kruger effect and "beginners" luck. Borrowing from the bag of luck to fill the bag of experience. No place to be hanging it out in the wind of death shouting "fuck yeah!". Sometimes your hand comes back empty from the bag of luck and there isn't enough in the experience bag to bail you out. Those are big speeds, so they will be big accidents.
Besides. If you got that good at carving lines on the public road, you probably have a life expectancy of about 35.

I doubt he sandbagged. Most track organizations force you to do Novice (or E1 in this case) on your first ever track day. Its a safety measure.
How can he sand bag at his first track day. The truth he is is far more skilled than the average rider coming into the track world. I was running advanced pace my very first track day. Got a bump to intermediate and was told "If you ride like this tomorrow, you'll get your A bump too"
Too bad I didn't stay, I never got that bump because the orgs owners developed a distaste for me based off of my political beliefs or lack thereof in their minds.

@@corylepire342 you don't get to be a coach by being slow. Especially when it was a organization put together by the mid ohio school at mid ohio sports car course. He was policing liars that lied about their riding experience. Too many guys sign up into a group they aren't capable of doing the pace that group should be capable of. Anyone going slow got waved in and told to ride with him and he gave them 2 laps to run a minimum lap time.
Hes smart thats exactly what he should have been doing, the last thing you wana do is ride outta ur class group its dangerous, thats y they do that. The track I go to does the samething,ive never been bumped lol but seen it happen

Awesome and always remember that some days you'll feel like Rossi out there then the next time you may feel as if you're running on 2 cylinders, but that's all part of the learning process. Stick with it even on days you don't wanna go make yourself and your improvements will show. One last thing.....no one wins races on the street just a glorious ride with flashing lights to the hospital. Great Job!

Throttle control in the corners could be better, you’re burping a little too much in the corners, but that’s a decent start. When you get to know the track and move up in the advanced level you can pass all day long. Just be patient. Next week you can race Marc Marquez 👌🏾

Just happened across this vid, reminded me of something that happened to me a few years ago. I had been doing track days for a few years and usually ran in the fast half of the intermediate group. In February I found an Aprilia RSV Mille in Connecticut.
I bought it during a snowstorm and , soon after hauled it down to Florida, straight to Jennings GP. I was familiar with the track, but never having ridden this bike, and not riding any bike for several months dure to winter in New England, I opted to start in the Novice class. After a couple sessions I was passing everyone in the group. While resting in the paddock between sessions a gentleman rode up and engaged me in conversation. He told me I was a courteous rider, not scaring anyone, and could stay there if I liked, but that I really did not belong there . I explained why I was riding with the Novice group and he very tactfully suggested I move up, saying it would benefit me more. Turned out he owned the track, and facilitated the move. Class act at a friendly track.

The instructor seems pretty blunt. I was actually a little nervous watching the video because he seemed like he was getting on you hard. Then when he said he was kicking you out of your class, I thought: I would be SO PISSED. Especially if I paid whatever you paid to do that track day, and it was based on a one-time mistake as a beginner. Then he just bumped you up 'cause you're such a savage on that R6. Lol.

Great video! Love seeing good trackday videos. As a rider coach, my only advice would be to concentrate on lines and body position. The speed will come. I tell my students, set up your body for the turn, clear before so that your bike has time to settle in before you really work the tires and suspension. Keep it up!

roll your throttle, never cut throttle in the middle of the turn, your bike has quick shifter no need to chop chop the throttle
Later braking also, much later, your getting there. either on the gas or on the brakes is what your looking for, great first time on track, used to teach myself, was very happy the coach saw you did not need to be in beginner class, get your braking down and you will be at race class

A moto gp rider will pass on the inside no matter what, that’s how you win races, you’d get a better practice on an empty track then having a plethora of different skilled riders in the way.
he’s more than capable of going fast he just wasn’t aware of no passing people inside. he was riding way below his skill level in that first class

Glad you had fun. A bit of criticism for you..when transitioning from side to side, try not to raise your butt so far off the seat. It’s more of a slide technique. This is really important for S’s. Also, you have a bad habit of keeping a finger on the clutch lever all the time. You don’t want to have a panic moment and accidentally pull the clutch in. Cheers

When it comes to track days, as a novice, the hardest part is to figure out which group you belong to. My advice would be to sign up for a fast group and if you can’t keep up go down one group, usually they let you do that. I remember my first track day someone passed me on the inside and almost crapped myself because I wasn’t expecting it!

Hey man! Just wanna say awesome video and sick editing! If I may give some small pointers on how to get a little better/faster!
1. Through out the video I noticed you're on and off the throttle mid corner, try to brake once and throttle out once. You'll increase lap time and reduce chances of low siding. (You did better throughout the day)
2. This one may sound silly but its crucial but set a limit for the exit of a turn. Dont use the whole width of the track. Why? So you can gauge/push what you're maximum speed is without worrying about running off the track. But push HARD.
3. In the turn, put your helmet where your mirrors would be. You'll be surprised how well balanced you'll feel!
Hope you get back out to the track and use this simple but awesome tips! You'll be in the advance group in no time if you keep up that progress you got. 🤙🤙
