This brought back many happy memories as a kid in Germany in the 80's. We had a local fest that had this ride every year and we absolutely loved it. We all called it the popcorn machine. You would never get away with a ride like this in US. A kid would get a small cut and the parents would sue the carnival for everything they had.

That's nonsense. We had the same ride in US fairs, except our ride would spin super fast and then it would go vertical. You would stand against the inside walls instead of sit. So you would be standing and the only thing keeping you from falling is the g-forces. Wayyy more extreme than this ride shown in the video. Everything you think you know about the USA is bs you read from the internet. Only city-slickers living out in California would behave the way you describe. In the rest of USA people are much more daring. Our "fests" included much more dangerous rides and demolition derby. No way that kind of stuff would ever be allowed in Germany.

@@crittah74 you would be surprised. Some fairs have the standing ride that spins as the other person mentioned. But the walls slide up and down. So at one point you are stuck to the wall above the ground. The operator can then slow the ride down causing you to fly off the wall 😅

These young people know how to have fun! That's how it was when I was a teen. I'm 55 now, but back then you didn't care about bumps and bruises. You were too busy laughing with friends and making new ones as a result. This ride would unfortunately NEVER fly in the states but even at my age, I would love to do this. Of course, I'll be in traction for a week, after, and on a lifetime supply of Ibuprofen but hey what a ride!

I’ve been on a ride very similar to this one. You’d stand in a single person compartment inset into the ride. There were two bars you held onto on either side of you to hold onto, and a loose strap to “keep you from falling out”. Then the ride spun you around, it was the g-force keeping you in your compartment. I was six when I rode that ride at a county fair.

Yep and one where the floor would fall way down as it spun, leaving you held to the wall by centrifugal force. The operator would THEN make the floor rise again, pushing everyone up and up and up - which was extremely hard with the force pinning you in place. Fun memories.

In Korea it's 10 mins but one time the controller gave them a free 2 more mins on the ride

Growing up I would visit relatives living in rural USA in the summertime. They would have a "fair" that would come to town once a year around 4th of July. They had a ride similar to this one, except you stand up against the sides. The ride would spin fast and then it would go vertical. The g-forces from the spin would keep you pressed up against the wall even though the wheel would be vertical. It was pretty intense.
Absolutely love this!! Would go on this ride at Global Village.
