Polylang has the ability to bifurcate versions of your website into subdomains for each language. I believe WPML also uses a subdomain or subdirectory of your website's domain name for the translations. Have you tested PolyLang for WordPress? Is it compatible with e-commerce plugins?

Falang multilanguage for WordPress
I wish these videos talked about the other costs. With one of these, you only get 2000 words free. If you have 200 products and 10 languages, you can spend up to 1000 dollars a year. What do you do when you just get started? if i had 1000 products? i pay more for a bad translation than in taxes? I used GTranslate for Italian. I did a horrible job at translating

I suggest you consider using free translation plugins such as Weglot or Loco Translate - at least at first. You can also look up the details about any limitations in coverage (such as whether the plugin can accommodate the number of products that you have). WPML isn't 99 a year. It's 99 a year if you want support past the first year.
