Hermit is easily my favorite modded character, and probably the only modded character that I would support being added into the vanilla game, he's got a very fun gimmick in dead on, and I feel his deck is very close to as balanced as the base characters, and I am happy to see frost enjoys him
I feel like it's also the highest quality modded character out there. Since it was a mod created by a proper game developer who just loved StS so they made a mod.
I'd actually say he feels weaker than the other characters, mostly due to some iffy card padding in the rare and uncommon slots. Basically anything that tries to make strike/defend synergy a thing feels like a complete waste of time, especially since Hermit only has access to basic strikes. Nothing like Wild Strike or Pommel Strike for even the slightest extra synergy with his other strategies. But mechanics wise he's very fleshed out, just wish they'd replace that with something else like more curse synergy cards.

@@Avengedtenfold while I agree at very strange build through strikes and defenses, he is not weak. He resembles unique way of playing. Curses, debuffs, dead-on cards, absolutely busted Eternal form… for me, weakest one is Silent.
@@kovacaizek4691 There's a subtle difference between weak and weaker than the others. I've been having a good time climbing ascension with The Hermit, I think his strength is that his common cards have pretty high values which gives him breathing room to find his scaling in act 1 and 2. Plated Armor and the common trike card that does 18 damage and gives two frail have been my bread and butter.
Curse synergies are a little meh in my opinion, the heart killer curse decks kinda rely on Fatal End to have a continuous source of them. You also need exhaust synergy to prevent dead hands AND your payoff cards, Grudge/Shadow Cloak/Final Canter/From Beyond.
I personally am also not great at The Silent but before The Watcher came out, she was considered the best for ASC 20 win streaking. So I leave that judgement up to the community at large. And I certainly don't think he's stronger than Watcher or Ironclad.
Not gonna lie, the coolest thing about this character is the hand position and manipulation mechanics that you showed off fantastically. Well done
in the mobile game you can move the cards around though :/

I've checked the Downfall Mod and The Hermit is indeed awesome. Dead On explores a new angle of strategy with hand postitioning and the curse/debuff stuff plays good as well.
I'd love to see more hermit runs every now and again. Really fun character!

Hermit is such a good character. Dead-on is a really interesting mechanic. And High Noon builds are so much fun (even more so before the Maintenance incident). And all of the hand manipulation makes Snecko Eye builds so stupidly strong.

Very interesting character, I like the fact that it has builds around strike as a possibility. Like what the Ironclad tries to do, but far better. Hope to see him more on here.

This is definitely the coolest character I've seen of the Downfall characters. It feels like he could fit in the base game to me

I'm glad you enjoyed Hermit! Ik a lot of mods for STS are very crazy with key terms and balance, but downfall was always my fave and im glad you're making some pogged up content about it.
downfall allows automaton to exist while hermit and collector keep getting nerfed to hell
You can Coalesce to change your order and put deadons that are stuck on the left to the right, then youll draw for turn and itll be centered

@@mjonkey3218 Among other things, there's a card that "upgrades" Strikes every time it's played and does not exhaust. The character has a decent mechanic set around making Strike and Defend better.

I think what I love most is the simplicity and intuitiveness of the design. It's very easy to add tons of keywords and cool unique effects when creating a character. It's actually a lot harder to make an interesting and fun set of cards that use a limited rule set. The mod designers and artists did a damn good job 😊
The hermit is super weird but AWSOME, I personally love the curse builds for mega cheese.
since the more recent updates, High Caliber is actually nuts cos instead of a strike into your discard it's a strike+2/+3 into your hand

I mean The Hermit character mod was originally created by a proper videogame developer. That's why the quality in everything to do with it seems so much higher than most of the others. Everything from the card design, the artwork and then especially the perfect sound design.
hi guys, I'm new to Slay the Spire and I'm loving the game, but as I have no experience with card games, I find myself getting creamed a lot in the first act.
Is there a mod that just adds a lot of new/better cards? Just to make it a tad easier for a noob ?
