What a poignant slice of Americana and affirmation of the human spirit! An amazing love letter to the people of Alpine and all the communities just like theirs that share a remarkable ability to work so hard through the daily struggles of life. They certainly put their trust in the right filmmaker - Nisey Woods handles their very personal stories with a gentle and deft hand, skillfully and tenderly letting us in to see a glimpse of their remarkable lives. Beautiful cinematography, moving stories, just a wonderful film!
Robert, this means so much to me that after years since Sweet Alpine Texas was posted, it remains your favorite! I really appreciate you letting me know. It inspires me to keep doing heart-felt stories.
Amica, you are a very creative storyteller, but more than this, your sensitive spirit and your being so close to the human's soul, gives you a very special power with the people and that's why your work is so emotional. many compliments and good luck for the visitalpines video contest.
Thank you everyone for all of your views, and your comments; they melt my heart. Update: Eddy is back home again....yeah! Greg, your amazing musical contribution was invaluable. You and Arthur rocked it!
My Tia lives across the street from Eddie, Tomasa and Lalo Tavarez. I know who Eddie is, and have spoken to him numerous times, but I haven't seen him in almost 20 years. He still has that big smile that is VERY contagious!
Beautiful video. I live in Austin, but I always look forward to visiting Alpine and West Texas. Thanks so much for sharing. The visit with Eddy moved me to tears.
+Melody Richardson Melody, I'm glad that you were effected so deeply by my visit with Eddy. He is such an incredible & special being. Thank you for watching my video. I appreciate it very much. You live in a great part of Texas! I love Austin!
I enjoy this short film. Real people and a beautiful place. Very touching and real. All it's missing is a cameo by Robert Duvall. I love Eddy! I'll be in Marfa Oct. 10th. of 2015. I'll drive over to Alpine to check it out. I'll buy lunch for anyone who will dine with me! I'm a harmless old feller, maybe getting read to move out there. Would like to make some friends. Takers?
+Billy Barton I SO appreciate your comments Billy, and your sense of humor. I'm happy to hear that you will be visiting Alpine during your Marfa trip. You will love the people and the town, I promise!!! If I were in town on October 10, I would have joined you in a heartbeat for lunch. Since I won't be there, maybe Robert Duvall will take you up on the lunch offer? Please let me know your thoughts after you visit. And by the way, I love Eddy too. You'll see him cruising around town no doubt.
I'll be in Marfa from the 11th to the 14th and don't have to be back at work in Forney TX until the 20th. So from the 15th to the 19th all is open. I will visit Alpine one day while I'm there. If I see Eddy I'll say hi and buy him something. If you are around during that time let me know. I'm harmless guy just looking to meet someone people and see if I want to move to the area.
I am so touched to know that my video is still effecting people, and that from it, you will be visiting Rebecca's web site. She is indeed a beautiful young lady. With my heart, thank you so much for watching.
+Delores Saunders What a wonderful plan Delores! And a journey you will have, indeed. Thanks for taking the time to share with me, and for watching Sweet Alpine Texas! All The Best
Oh Nisey. Man, oh, man. What a discovery. So intuitive. So sensitive. Thank goodness. No calamities and broccoli! When they come by they see it. Self direction is you doin' it yourself. My art. I believe I used some of it for presents. (yes!) for food (oh yeah). Do you take credit cards? "Um, yes, and cash." I'm actually working on being patient. I see you.
Good day! No, my family isn't from the Cayman Islands. But, as it's so beautifully said - "We're all distant relatives No matter where you from, where you live How near, how far Africa, China, Japan, Afghanistan, Israel We're all fam, we're all distant relatives So that's why we came together One of the reasons why myself and Damian came together 'Cause we all come from one place, and that's Africa That's right, you too And you The whole world! We're all family, we're just spread out all over the place So to all my distant relatives, let's take it back home!" -Nas & Damien Marley from the song "Africa Must Wake Up"
I went to Sul Ross back in 1968-1971. I don't think we had any gangs out there then. They must have them now. I doubt I will come back to visit after seeing this.
Hi Ryan! Thanks for taking the time to watch Sweet Alpine Texas! Eddy has Cerebral Palsy and his voice condition is a result of that, not the accident. This is a good factual site about CP if you would like some more information: www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/cp/facts.html All the best! :0)
Ryan Houston Hi Ryan. The song was written just for my film, and it's called "Sweet Alpine" by Arthur Johnson. If you would like a copy of the song, let me know, and I'll get it to you! 😊

Hi India, I'm super happy that you like the song! Thanks for emailing me, and I'm glad I was able to get the song, "Sweet Alpine," to you! ENJOY!
I love the Indians from the motel! THAT is what America means to me, not what alot of media types expect us to "tolerate" these days!!
+John Donaway They were such beautiful and loving people to me, and to all that crossed their path during my 4 day stay at their motel. Gems indeed!
Woods?... originally from Cayman Islands like a grampa of mine?
