- The Crank Caverns are the once working mining tunnels of Rainford Delph Quarry. Working in this location goes back to the 1700s.
Rumoured to stretch 7 miles underground, the Caverns are surrounded by mystery, folklore, and horror.
From unexplained deaths, witches, people going missing, and even a cursed rabbit, the most famous tale is of the cannibal dwarves.
Four children explored the caves in the mid 18th Century, only one came out alive. The others apparently killed by a pack of small men with beards living in the Caverns. An expedition of soldiers sent to find out what was happening found chewed on human bones and a church in the cave. The cave entrance was sealed, and the cannibals were never spotted again.
Let's head into the caves and see what horror awaits today......

that narration was on point. One of the pendle witches (isobel robey) was from windle, st helens - not far from there.
Those caves look great! I think I might end up living in a cave. It will be much cheaper 😂
