    Tobias, I must make this addition for you and the viewers this is what makes collecting fun. I bought a collection of 5 knives and they arrived today. I had my eye on a specific one that I felt was worth more by itself than the 12 bucks I paid. Anyway, the bonus is a small green handled USA made knife and who made it is unknown, but it has a US patent number that I have traced. Patent submitted by A.E. Allen in October of 1940, accepted and issued on 10-6-42. I looked over the diagrams and cannot tell you why his patent was special for a 2 blade 31/2 inch pocket knife, and I don't know who made it You and your other viewers have to admit this is fun.

    • @jgbullen
      @jgbullen 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I checked again, through 9 pages of patent and found that he assigned it to Utica Cutlery and might have been an employee. It appears to be about handle material that looks like injection molded plastic.

    • @KnifeChatswithTobias
      @KnifeChatswithTobias  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jgbullen , that would make sense. So many companies back then were coming out with new and improved celluloid and almost all of them were getting patented and were given new names! Fortunately know has patented or trademarked "Swirly-Plastic", yet. Maybe I should go with "Swurleeplaztik" What do you think?

      I have a new crazy thing. I spent a good part of the afternoon trying to find. pocket knife blade openers. Many brands including Case gave them to salesmen who might have to open a hundred knifes a day in what we now call a dollar store. When I was a kid they were called 5 and 10's. Case sold them for around $9.98 but they are now out of stock. Do you have any or have you seen any?

    What do you think about the case folding Hunter 6265 .I like it but I think the older one's are better made trying to get one. Ya it's #189 it has one x on it I do not know what year it is I bought it about a month ago.

    • @KnifeChatswithTobias
      @KnifeChatswithTobias  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think most folks will agree that recently Case's Quality Control has been lagging. I do not have the Case Folding Hunter but I have similar knives from other companies. What I can say is they are heavy in the pocket. As for belt carry, a fixed blade with a comparable blade length will be lighter. But if the fixed blade is not an option, and you need a big knife, the folding hunter is one way to go.

    as a big white smoothie fan, I'm impressed with both the Marbles & the Boker, of course at different price points. Have you thought of adding a Kissing Crane/Klaas wood handled "Brown Mule" I've added the small (KC37) & medium(KC36) the largest one being the (KC35) that I'm waiting for a good price on....You can find them for $11-$22 on eBay every now & then. bareheaded jack, meaning the pommel lacks a bolster. The black bone is the Locking work knife if the old Rough Rider Coal Miner Series. It is a copy of the old Case Liner Lock Sod Buster.
