Nice to see 'non-Car Guy' Les not being wowed by the modern Bentley, in favour of the old Jaaaag.

Best episode so far! Les Dennis came to realise he actually was interested in cars. Both the XJS and SL came across as the preferred cars, as nice as the Bentley was I did not see the smiles on faces as it was being driven.

Pierre from the Mercedes channel recommended this channel, I just subscribed
As coincidence has it, I too own an XJS V12 Coupe, XJS 4.0 Convertible, XJ40 V12 Sedan of course, and 380 SL. I have to admit that even after owning and driving these same cars, my heart still skips a beat when viewing this episode. They are all absolutely lovely cars and still head turners today. I truly appreciate how well presented this viewing was put together. 🥂 Cheers

Love those old Jaguars. I just bought a Jaguar X Type in September, 2020. Its a 2005, but well taken care of. Like new, inside and out. I just love how well it handles. Its all wheel drive, too. Its my first British car in 30 years. Had me a couple of Triumphs. Love the channel, by the way. I always look forward to a new episode.

Absolutely superb again! Really enjoyable. Difficult to choose between them driven many XJS's in my 20's but only one 500SL, probably a late XJR-S 6.0 as they were really special and nothing covers 100's of miles in a day like an XJS

I have owned a R107 350 SL from 1971 which was an excellent car and I have owned a 450 SL from 1973, which was less good. But since 2003 I also own a XJ-S from 1989 which is even better as the R107. That is why I was interested in this video. Refreshing that not the new Bentley made the race, but the XJ-S.

@Alexander Van Heugten it was in a better generell condition. Less repairs and a better ride. It had a nicer interior as well. The 450 sl was blue inside as outside, the 350 sl was also blue, but with a tan interior.

I have a V12 XJ-S too. The 3 speed GM gearbox is not good for performance and if you want to drag race it as-is, it accelerates a lot faster if you put the selector in first gear hold rather than drive, since it tries to do everything in 2nd gear.

Calling these "sports cars" is too much of a stretch - their appeal lies elsewhere. The older MB and Jaguars are all lovely cars, each one a wonderful testament to an era of automobiles now long gone. My only comment regarding the Bentley would be to each their own. I subscribed previously and am hoping to see more of these videos in the future.

Often I see XJS's here in New England, with FOR SALE signs, rusting away, pleading for someone to take them away. No takers.
Mercedes 380 and 560 SL are, on the other hand still on the roads, lovingly maintained.

It's strange but over here you can find really bad examples of mercedes, there's a rusty old 450 slc up the road and my friend has just part exchanged a Mercedes s class and the dealer phoned him up and asked him for £500 extra because it was so rusted underneath.

  • @CherylCold

Strange to see this,. yesterday I dropped off my Lancia at a guys shop for full resto, He had a hardtop on the floor outside, I asked SL? It was from a 450 he had under a cover in his garage. For me I would take the XJS, a 3.6 with the full convertible roof.

Martin how about where it really all began for BMW with its company saving 4 door family sportier saloon the neue Klasse 2000 with its 100 horses, manual gearbox and 4 cylinder M10 engine that cant be broken v the new 5 series? Let me know if you want to borrow the former. Im sure you know someone at BMW UK that can help with the latter. Something British and 4 door from the time would make sense too like the Rover coupe. That might be the right balance.
A great start and you are definitely onto something here with the format. But avoid it being too blokey and invite Vicki Butler Henderson. That way the channel immediately opens up a whole new audience and you increase your chances of bagging a streaming provider.

Isnt this a perfect yet unexpected example of the nanny state? The experience described about modern Audi A4 is that the car does everything for you and can only do that by monitoring everything that you do. This Stinks of feminine energy and the ridiculous obsession with safety. Whats the quote? Those who sacrifice freedom for safety deserves neither..
