Went to Drink Shop Do for my leaving party before I moved to America - such a cool place! Another favourite spot of mine has to be Cahoots on Carnaby Street. It's a speakeasy bar in an old air raid shelter where everything is themed around the 1940s - the cocktail menu is on stylised newspapers of the time, the staff talk to you as though you're in the 40s, the music is of that era, and the entire place is decked out with chunks of old underground carriages so it's like you're sitting in on a tube ride in the past. It is SO SO cool.
Get Circle to make a clock like the Weasley family had that shows where you and your family/friends are at any time. "Oh Hannah's at the bar", "Hannah is at home", or "Hannah is in mortal peril", etc.
Thank you for this video - heading to London in January for a few days and always looking for new recommendations to try and discover more than the touristy spots!
MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS PLEASE!!! I love hearing about all the quirky little places in London as its so vast you would never find them without them being recommend!! Xx
Thanks Hannah, great video. I don't go to London often now, but I went to Covent Garden a few weeks ago and it was a nightmare finding somewhere wheelchair accessible. There's nothing like spending two hours trawling the streets for just one place with level access in the freezing cold, feeling every inch a second class citizen. Finally I came across one with level access and went in to ask for a table. Nope. We are full, the waitress said. I almost burst into tears and began pleading with her, explaining they were the only wheelchair accessible place we had found. She got the manager and he agreed if we didn't mind waiting, they'd let us in. So awesome of them. A theme with a lot of these suggestions is upstairs/downstairs or nooks and crannies which automatically says not accessible. I just wish the law would be enforced that these places had a lift, or ramps somewhere. They can still be cool little places!
Dishoom near King's Cross just off Granary Square is AMAZING, it's described as a Bombay Cafe and does the most amazing Indian inspired brunch! The interior is really cool as well, it's built to look like a shipping company and they're constantly burning incense so it smells amazing in there too.
If you are ever in Oxford they have one there too (though never realised it was a chain!) which is in a converted church and is very lovely indeed.. They do lots of fun comedy/spoken word/music nights too (and sometimes all three)!
Cubana in Waterloo has a happy hour from 4-7 everyday and live Cuban music later in the evening every night! So good, would recommend the frozen strawberry daiquiri pitchers
My favourite pub is The Spice of Life on Charring Cross Road! Quiz night on Tues and great live music in the basement! Plus its so well connected for night tube now!
I lived in london for over 20 years, now live in edinburgh and a lot of my favourite places have now closed down unfortunately but here are a few i am pretty sure are still open today and are amazing: sarastro, in covent garden, an incredible restaurant and the toilets are a must see too! Koko club in camden! Regent's park open air theatre for a magical thespian experience, the bar is also like a fairy tale and walking through regent's park at night is quite an awe inspiring experience (but not alone!!). the king's head on upper street, my favourite pub with fire places and a small theatre... the beach on the southbank is pretty cool with cocktails on a hot day and louis in hampstead for divine hungarian patisserie and a travel back in time!
Thank you Hannah! You have earned a new subscriber! I found this video as an advertisement on another video, but I came to look at your channel. Anyways, I moved to London for work in September so I'm always wanting to go to new places. Thanks so much!
Some of my favourite places are Opium in Chinatown, Tostado in Soho (contemplated whether to include this or not, such a cute lil forgotten gem!!) and Casa Tua in Camden. Great food/drinks and atmosphere!
If you're ever in Oxford, they have a Freud there too, but it's in a gorgeous old church! Plus they often hold events like concerts or swing nights. Would recommend 👍
I've always had some great food experiences at the London Borough Market. If you're there you should definately try the brownies at the bakery stand. OMG they are so addictive!
Well I now have a list of places to try when I'm in London in March! Sadly I'm never in London enough. But I do have one great recommendation near Covent Garden, it's this tiny club down a side Alley near the theatre where Cursed Child is. And it's call "Be At One". It's like this underground bar which is all about amazing cocktails, with amazing booths to chill in, and then on Friday nights they have alive band playing classic pop tunes for you to dance to. Highly recommended, especially if you just seen Cursed Child!
Bit of a travel for me but I definitely need to check out The Faltering Fullback when it gets a bit warmer. That beer garden looks insane! If you're ever down in southwest I can really recommend The Four Thieves. Just a normal pub downstairs but the top floor is completely filled with arcade games, table tennis, mini golf etc. Always a good night out!
This Kansan visited London 9-86, and still remember great places like Simpson's in the Strand, but my favorite was a place which Fodor's claimed was the oldest continuously operating restaurant-site in the world, the George And Vulture. It is down a narrow alley near Threadneedle Street. I had my only steak and kidney pie there, and I was told that Dickens ate and wrote there.
A bit late to the party, but *Top Secret Comedy Club* near Covent Garden is amazeballs! Comedians go there to practice their standup routines so its really chilled out (and 90% of the time still really good!), entry price can be as low as 1£ (!!!) a lot of the time, and the bar is cheap aswell! There's always several comedians per show, each show is about 2 hours, and there are brakes in between routines where you can go to the bar and/or chat up other people there. I go there every time I'm in London, I love it!
Hannah, you have the knack. You can make an experience out of _anywhere._ Hang on to that. I don't know if I ever had that knack, but I know I don't have it now.
Chin Chin Labs in Camden is also a great place to go! They do some really rich hot chocolate with a MASSIVE scoop of marshmallow on top and some really weird yet nice ice cream flavours, aside from the classic chocolate and vanilla that everyone loves. I loved all of these recommendations, I'm going to have to try them out in the new year!
AHHH Drink, Shop, Do was my every morning coffee shop when I went to school in London. I stayed in Kings Cross so thank god I stayed so close to a great place. I remember loving the food at Caravan near Granary Square. I spent a ton of time there in the Spring because its just beautiful. Now I'm missing London a little more.
I'm moving to London later this year, please do more of these top places to visit videos because I need recommendations for when i move! Great video :)
I'm away at uni atm, but usually live in London- one of my favourite places to go is Tequila Mockingbird in Putney. Probably a bit pricey for some, but between 5 and 9 every day they have a buy one get one free deal, if you buy two of the same cocktail. Never been when super busy, but really lovely atmosphere if you're out of central London for whatever reason. There's also a place around the corner from the British Museum called Salt and Pepper (if I remember rightly)- I've only been there once for lunch, but very well priced and freshly made, so really worth a visit! Definitely want to go to the places you've recommended as well though, they all sound amazing!! Love all your videos 😊😊
Yalla Yalla - tiny Lebanese place in Soho, the food is to die for. They do kind of like a tapas kind of thing with lots of small plates with breads and pickles. I recommend the baba ghanoush and the hummus. Reasonable prices, especially if you share with friends, however I recommend going at off-peak times, as tables are sparse and hard to come by (it really is tiny). The food is worth the wait.
I love this vid, thank you for the ideas! It’s what my other half and I look for when venturing out - good cafes, places to eat, drink, and people-watch. We love Monmouth Coffee Shop nr Borough Market, coffee there is unbeatable. Queue goes down the street, but if you buy their grounds/beans at the same time, use the right hand queue - much shorter. Not so great if (like Hannah) you don't drink coffee, but take a coffee-loving pal there :) Also, love the street food stalls in Camden.
I love London! I live in the NW but always go to London a few times a year. I love Tombo cafe, Omotesando Koffee, Store Street Espresso for coffee, and Soho Bibimbap in Soho :)
YumChaa near goodge street station (there are also other locations). Great place to work in the morning before it gets too noisy. Also, a great place to chat with friends! 👌🏽 They have a wide selection of teas. I can't speak to their food because I have allergies, but it all looks spectacularly delicious.
Don't know where you live bit Stamford Larder near Stamford Brook station does amazing cooked breakfasts with homemade baked beans and bread! It was my favourite when I lived near.
Went to the faltering fullback yesterday after watching this video and it did not disappoint! Thai food was amazing and Hannah was right about the tree housey vibes! It was so cool :D
I'm definitely going to some of these places, thanks Hannah!! I love London so much, such a great place and I'm so grateful to have been brought up here :)
Hey Hannah, I remember a placed happily named The Piano Works in Farringdon where there's always different pianists who play live. They take requests as well!
One of my favourite parts of my weekend in London was finding Mr. Wu's Chinese buffet for like 6 pounds. When you're Canadian, that exchange rate can be crazy.
Big happy "Oh!" moment when you mentioned Drink, Shop, Do - there was an after-awards event (what normal people call the after party) there that I went to at the end of last year. Didn't get to see much of it, and I didn't know that there was a downstairs, but now I think I'll check back when I'm next in London. The only place you haven't mentioned that I can think of is The Theatre Cafe, which is close to Picadilly circus, across the road from the Les Miserables theatre. It's just a cafe really, with foods and coffees and hot chocolates, but it's got a super friendly atmosphere and plays show-tunes that you can select yourself, and all the coffee cups have posters for London shows on them; it also hosts a musical themed karaoke session some nights of the week.
Yesss - The Miller is such an amazing bar! They also have an underground room (equipped with amps and drum kit) that you can book out for the entire night for band practice, too - it's so sick. Have you tried Tramshed in Shoreditch?
Definitely go to yolkin macice in soho at the weekend, they have incredible ice cream macaroons. Also shake shack in Covent Garden has the best burgers x
One question, if I may, for everybody from London or traveling there often: For a weekend trip to the city, is there a idiot proof kind of ticket for public transport? A buy once and go anywhere in the city kind of thing I guess. Thx for any advice :)
If you have a "contactless" credit or debit card, you can use that - just touch it against the reader when you start or end your journey. Otherwise, you can get an "Oyster" card from any underground or railway station, which you load up with some credit and use in the same way. Either way there is a daily maximum fare of about £9, I think, so you can budget around that.
followed you here from the park bench and say you have food recommendations for London. cool. new places to add to my to do list. keep up the cool content.
Freud Bar is pretty much opposite my office (Time Out), great little place, and my friend Martha works at the fallback so I've spent a fair few nights there too! As far as food goes I love Chic'n;Sours right now, the one in Seven Dials is great, and pub wise I love the Sherlock Holmes by Charring Cross.
Sarcastic Fish london fresher club right here Is it only me or London can feel quite lonely as a student ? I don't really connect with the people from my course so idk what to do with my life lol
I went to the club Roadhouse in Covent Garden on Friday and had such a great time. There was a band playing good music and when they weren't playing the DJ put on some proper tunes and not crappy club mixes! Highly recommend!
I've been to London two times (the school trip doesn't count) and both times I've been to The Warwick's. It's a pub in Soho and the street is also called Warwick Street. In my opinion they make delicious burgers and chips which are also pretty affordable. My friends also liked it a lot there so I'd totally recommend :) Now that I've seen your video, I really want to go to London again!
The Lord Nelson pub! Next to Southwark Station, just go, will definitely not disappoint ! (Before 8pm if you want the burgers and trust me u want the burgers)
Went to Drink Shop Do for my leaving party before I moved to America - such a cool place! Another favourite spot of mine has to be Cahoots on Carnaby Street. It is SO SO cool.
I love the idea of exploring your city. It's honestly the best way to meet new people and make the most out of your time
LOVING this series, Witton!
Melanie Murphy SAME!!!
your enthusiasm and zest for life are awesome!
Get Circle to make a clock like the Weasley family had that shows where you and your family/friends are at any time. "Oh Hannah's at the bar", "Hannah is at home", or "Hannah is in mortal peril", etc.
Also I love yumcha tea in Camden, karamel in North London, and I miss Mildreds in King's cross with my whole heart.
Thank you for this video - heading to London in January for a few days and always looking for new recommendations to try and discover more than the touristy spots!

Freddie Martin Eagle and Child in Oxford for the history and comfy booths
Natalie Hazel I think it is closed again if you mean the one in Jericho
Akilah Obviously p
Cubana in Waterloo has a happy hour from 4-7 everyday and live Cuban music later in the evening every night! So good, would recommend the frozen strawberry daiquiri pitchers
My favourite pub is The Spice of Life on Charring Cross Road! Quiz night on Tues and great live music in the basement! Plus its so well connected for night tube now!
I traveled to London this summer and fell in love with it!

I love Drink Shop Do. They always play amazing, throwback type music!
I lived in london for over 20 years, now live in edinburgh and a lot of my favourite places have now closed down unfortunately but here are a few i am pretty sure are still open today and are amazing: sarastro, in covent garden, an incredible restaurant and the toilets are a must see too! Thanks Hannah for your crisp informative video. We visited Faltering Fullback and as described by you, it has been such a pleasant experience. Cheers!
As someone who is moving to London at the end of next month, this is a massive help! Especially that app!
Some of my favourite places are Opium in Chinatown, Tostado in Soho (contemplated whether to include this or not, such a cute lil forgotten gem!!) and Casa Tua in Camden. Great food/drinks and atmosphere!

The interrupt me feature sounds useful, no more secret languages with my wingman!
You should keep this London series, they are soo helpful!
If you're ever in Oxford, they have a Freud there too, but it's in a gorgeous old church! Plus they often hold events like concerts or swing nights. Would recommend 👍

for like restaurant food, would highly recommend dim t in tower bride/London bridge
Ohhh the sky garden for cocktails!!!!
The Covent Garden Cocktail Club is similar to Freud's but it has a Happy Hour between 5-7pm ;) Actual good cocktails at a 2for1 deal.
Have been to the miller on several occasions. I would recommend Kua'Aina near Goodge Street station, amazing food and 2for1 cocktails.
Bit of a travel for me but I definitely need to check out The Faltering Fullback when it gets a bit warmer. That beer garden looks insane!

The Circle app sounds ffantastic
I have walked in front of Drink dance do soooo many times and never realized what it was!

YumChaa near goodge street station (there are also other locations). Great place to work in the morning before it gets too noisy. Also, a great place to chat with friends! 👌🏽
They have a wide selection of teas. I can't speak to their food because I have allergies, but it all looks spectacularly delicious.
I want this app for where I live! It looks amazing.
Don't know where you live bit Stamford Larder near Stamford Brook station does amazing cooked breakfasts with homemade baked beans and bread! It was my favourite when I lived near.
Im going to soon be working in Farringdon, so I will keep an eye out for that coffee place!
Throughly enjoyed you pub choices. Will you do some more of these video’s ❤️
Went to the faltering fullback yesterday after watching this video and it did not disappoint! Thai food was amazing and Hannah was right about the tree housey vibes! It was so cool :D

Having NEVER been to London but hoping to go next year, I will pop these on my list of where to go ;) x
Hey Hannah, I remember a placed happily named The Piano Works in Farringdon where there's always different pianists who play live. They take requests as well!
not jewish but i've learnt so much from these vids the past few days& it's so interesting!! love them and u hannah!!
One of my favourite parts of my weekend in London was finding Mr. Wu's Chinese buffet for like 6 pounds. When you're Canadian, that exchange rate can be crazy.
Might have to take a trip down old London at some point and check out some of these, been a while since I was down that way.
Big happy "Oh!" moment when you mentioned Drink, Shop, Do - there was an after-awards event (what normal people call the after party) there that I went to at the end of last year. Didn't get to see much of it, and I didn't know that there was a downstairs, but now I think I'll check back when I'm next in London.

love love love this video Hannah! I really wish I lived in London! I can't wait to visit there again and try out some of these places!
As someone who does like coffee and used to work near Farringdon I can confirm that Prufrock's coffee is legit delicious!
Amazing timing! I am going to London next year for a NFL game. And yeah, its a long time away but recommendations are great. Thx for the video :)
Thank you for the advice, the Oyster Card sounds good :)
Havn't been to these places but try the gate house in Highgate village they do also have shows upstairs
I love this video. Going to London in April to a Lindsey Stirling gig and I'm sure I'll go around London and check some of these out with my friend.
I'm so excited for this since I'm doing a study abroad over the summer in London!
followed you here from the park bench and say you have food recommendations for London. cool. new places to add to my to do list. keep up the cool content.
I love the idea of this app, will definitely be using it!
Very well timed video as I'm moving to London in the morning! Will have to go to Freud, it looks amazing!
Who has dared to dislike this video?! Loved the video Hannah! :)
This was soooo helpful (fresher in London haha) but I literally must have walked past that freud's bar like a dozen times without noticing it
Freud's is kinda underground. like you go down a staircase below pavement level to get there I'm pretty sure :)
Sophie Burrows yeah that's literally what she said in the video
Sarcastic Fish london fresher club right here
Is it only me or London can feel quite lonely as a student ? I don't really connect with the people from my course so idk what to do with my life lol
Sounds like an amazing app, thanks for letting us know about it! Looking forward to trying out some new eating spots as well...
I'm planning a trip to London so thanks for the recommendations!
I wish this was a world wide app! It sounds amazing and would be great for my friends/fam in my city.
I went to the club Roadhouse in Covent Garden on Friday and had such a great time. There was a band playing good music and when they weren't playing the DJ put on some proper tunes and not crappy club mixes! Highly recommend!
Also definitely going to try and go to some of these.
I think I might check out some of these places next time I'm in London
I've been to London two times (the school trip doesn't count) and both times I've been to The Warwick's. It's a pub in Soho and the street is also called Warwick Street. In my opinion they make delicious burgers and chips which are also pretty affordable.
My friends also liked it a lot there so I'd totally recommend :)
Now that I've seen your video, I really want to go to London again!
I really want to make my way to London one of these days, and these recommendations all sound fantastic!
The Lord Nelson pub! Next to Southwark Station, just go, will definitely not disappoint ! (Before 8pm if you want the burgers and trust me u want the burgers)
