Is it a safe area? I am considering it as one of the places I'd like to move with my husband and children. I love GA and lived in St. Mary's and Sugar Hill when I was younger. And do you know good the quality of the elementary school and middle school education is? Anywhere in the city you'd recommend avoiding moving to?
hey! As a realtor I am not allowed to recommend areas to avoid but go ahead and book a call with me through this link! I think this would be the most helpful way to dice into the area! calendly.com/lukesmith_realtor
Absolutely NOT! 73 murders in 2022. I have a paid off house there and refuse to go back. Well, if you stay on the Northside, you're fine. East and South side is an absolute NO.
You forgot Sex and the City, The Color Purple, and Living Single as shows & movies that reference Macon. The 1842 Inn is a lovely and elegant little B & B to relax and enjoy a vacation (or staycation) if you're into that kind of thing. Hotel 45 and (The Woodward are pretty unique hotels as well.) The dog parks are pretty awesome. Make sure your dog is well-trained before ya go!
Sadly not! I use to compete in high school. After my time in special operations I messed my lower and upper back up pretty bad. I had a bulged disc. I can’t back squat or deadlift anymore!
Born there , grew up there, and glad i dont live there anymore. Back during the 1980s, some wealthy japanese investors wanted to build a massive amusement theme park based on the cherry blossom which is extremely popular in japanese culture. The city council members blocked that from happening. It wouldve been on the same scale as Six Flags in atlanta. That wouldve brought so many more businesses and industry into macon. The city politics for decades is the reason why macon is nothing.
This guy has lost his mind. He's not being completely truthful. Macon is a dump. It's dangerous, and crime infested. It almost went bankrupt a few years back and they had to consolidate. I was born there in 1969 and left in 1994. I've been back a few times, and it's NEVER gotten better. South Macon is a massive, many square miles area of nothing but blight and poverty. Lester Miller is doing a great job as Mayor, but the place isn't going to be fixed in 4 years. Calling Macon a dump is being nice.
My husband and I live in Fernandina Beach, FL. and there's a family from Macon that comes to their beach home at least once a month. People on our street call them the Macon hillbillies. They are loud and obnoxious! Definitely gave us a negative opinion of Macon, Ga. Thanks for the video. Cool stuff!
I grew up in Macon. Not sure if you've visited but the people who own the beach home are probably acting that way because they're on vacation. We like our party time.
@@gwtw2838 I'm not sure, I don't know the people. I've only heard about them and see them when we go for walks. They are always outside and hanging out in the street. There are like five or six of them. You always know they're in town because their driveway is always piled up with cars. The sad part is that the owner of that place is supposedly a banker. Another person told us that it's just how Macon people act. This video shows us a very different Macon from what we expected.
Your footage of the cherry blossom festival is absolutely NOT in Macon. Also there is no such thing as the University of Macon. You clearly have not been here.

Macon, Georgia is a beautiful, arty town with a remarkable caring community. Our reputation for crime is a myth perpetuated by surrounding, less progressive, counties. U S Bureau of Statistics lists Warner Robins as #1 per capita for violent crime in Georgia & #12 general crime. Macon didn't make either on the Top 15 list.
What is crazy is that Macon has all that music history and the Music Museum still shut down.
It really is surprising! Macon has such a rich musical heritage, and it would be great to see the museum open up again to celebrate that history.
Thank You!!☀️
