My local town in Australia was renamed Cherokee in the 1940s. In WWII the US military unit stationed there were Cherokee. My great uncle was a botanist and planted Dogwoods on his property to remember them. The movie "Picnic At Hanging Rock" was filmed in the area.

When you were talking or reading up by the campfire, or near woods, I noticed on 2 different days I think back up in a tree something black and odd shaped thing that would like dangle on the branch way back in the woods way up in a tree. It was almost like triangle shaped at times. Really odd. I'm going to go look back and comment on it.
I think the prints are pretty interesting: if you ever work around animals, your boots get well covered in their droppings & absorb the urine, then go walk in snow, it leaves that same kind of tell-tale track, sort of yellow & melted, that you have in your field. Tracks also vary whether you have a thick soled snow-type boot compared to walking out there in your stocking feet and again if you were bare foot the type of impression and rate of snow melt is different. I would have liked you to take a cast as that could reveal even more details. An anthropologist or biologist could work out from the prints the weight & height & as gross as it sounds, the biologicals could be very interesting. You might like to hook up with David Paulides who has written several books on the phenomena & who will be speaking @ Squatch Fest 2022, Jan 28 & 29th in Longview/Kelso WA - he has collected hair & other biologicals as well as much more - could be worth a punt. He has a great TH-cam Channel, too. Keep safe - you clearly are NOT alone (even if it is a VERY annoying neighbour... with serious bladder issues!)
