I enjoy clubman especially in the fall/winter. Not sure why I gravitate towards it during that time of year. I’ve never tried Gabels Bay Rum. May have to give it a shot. My favorite Bay Rum is still PAA’s Atomic. I’m not a big clove fan and Atomic doesn’t have any. Thanks for the comparison video!

Clubman is a cold weather gem and, yes, PAA makes some pretty good stuff! I like their "Space Nog" bay rum myself. Thanks for the comment!

Try Suavecito's bay rum. It has a very nice scent as well.

I only use Clubman aftershaves. All get decanted into glass bottles.

    GABLES IS MY FAVORITE

    Totally agree with this review.
I am pretty sure that my barber used Gables on the back of my neck, but it seems to only last maybe 20-30 minutes. I find VIBR to be very clovey but it lasts a long time. A great holiday fragrance. When combined with Cella shave soap it is truly a gourmand experience.
    Thanks.

Hmm, I'm going to have to try the Cella/VIBR combo. It sounds great!

Stephan's Bay Rum, one of my favorites, has water as it's primary ingredient. As such, Stephan's has a flatter scent profile and less burn than alcohol based bay rums such as the Pinaud (Clubman) Bay Rum.
And speaking of the Pinaud Bay Rum, I tip my hat to anyone who can use that stuff at full strength. Pinaud Bay Rum goes on with a burn that feels like someone hit you with a flame thrower! IMO the reason why the Pinaud works better in colder months is due to the cinnamon notes it has.
Other non "barber shop" bay rums that are worth a try would include: Dominica, St. Johns and Captain's Choice.
    Phoenix, AZ.
edit: I just saw your Stephan's Bay Rum review were you mentioned the water base. Apologies for the redundant comment!

These are some great observations about both Pinaud's and Stephan's bay rums. I did get a sample of the Captain's Choice BR. Looking forward to trying it out. Thanks for contributing the channel!

@@classicalgrooming If you like "rummy" bay rums, then you will like the Captain's Choice. Just give it a good shake before using to get the oils in solution.

If your aftershave burns that much, you are using too much pressure in your shave and over exfoliating. Try shaving with a straight razor-you will only use too much pressure once!

Two Bay Rums that you should try that are truly made from scratch the old fashioned way are Derby Small Batch Tonic and ETHOS Grooming Essentials Traditional and their Tortola which is a Tropical Bay Rum.
