Hey dude, solid video. Thanks for stepping out of your comfort zone to be the first to make a video explaining Yuketen's origin and other related brands. You should have had some of that Pollack visible for us! My favorite is Monet. Been getting into Nicholas Roerich lately, too. The story and mystical essence of his paintings make you wonder if he was actually there or imagined his painting.
Thanks for all the information on these boots and the history of the company. I bought a pair similar to this for about 150 dollars off of a japanese auction site brand new and I am super excited for them to come in
This was such a great overview. I’m a great admirer and collector of heritage footware. I’ve been fortunate enough to purchase Alden, Allen Edmonds, Redwing, and White’s boots. So when I encountered Yuketen, I was stunned by their commitment to true moccasin construction. I purchased a pair of their ring boots in crome pak leather that I couldn’t break in. But I admire the quality enough that I intend to buy one of their camp mocs as soon as their ee widths are available.
Thanks for the support! You should look at getting a custom pair made for yourself on their website. I think maybe you can get a larger width there! Could be wrong but never hurts to ask.
I much prefer the fit and feel of yuketen over visvim. The visvim grizzlies i own dont feel like a moccasin in the same way yuketen maine guide db do. At the end of the day, i would say visvim is really a fashion brand first. Their materials are amazing, the craftmanship is high, but it is just not constructed in a way that it can really last.
Interesting! I actually ended up selling these and buying the ICT Visvim Grizzlies... I must say I feel the exact opposite. The Grizzlies are far more comfy than these Yuketens are at least for my feet. I've even done five mile hikes in them and they've held up amazing. I think it is really just an aesthetic thing. There's nothing wrong with the quality of mainline Yuketens, but I really can't say anything negative about Visvim's quality either. I find this thing in the repro community where people see hype around Visvim and place some sort of hypebeast prejudice against it and automatically say that it's worse than true repro brands. I think it's just a question of if you prefer the updated silhouettes Visvim provides, or do you want to look like a classic 20th century silhouette.
