My daughter and I met him in person when he was in Cleveland Ohio 20 years ago. It was Crystal's tenth birthday. He was an amazing gentleman and very kind to us both. She is now 30 and remembers as if it was yesterday. Thank you Michael. You were and are a blessing to so many. May God keep you safe 🙏❤️.
I grew up watching lord of the dance as a kid and am still blown away by their performance as an adult. These people are global treasures in their art and it's hard not to see why. My only regret is never having see one of their live performances
Michael paved the way but if you watch Matt Smith and Cathal Keaney, there are guys out there who show a lot of promise. And let's not forget, a lot of the original LORD of the Dance troupe are now married and have families. I'd like to believe that some of those children will inherit their parents talent and perhaps take Irish dancing to even higher levels. If Finn O'kane has even half the looks and talent of his mom and dad, ( Bernadette Flynn and Damien O'kane ), then we are in for something really special in the future!!!!
One of my favorite parts out of ALL the dance shows, including Riverdance, is when the entire cast and crew come onto the stage, everyone is acknowledged and they are given flowers. It's heartwarming to me because it conveys a sense of family and team work and the excitement of the audience is overwhelming. It's bittersweet knowing that Michael is now retired. Who knows how long it will be before we see shows this " magical" and memorable again. 😢
I can never get enough of this and the original show; LORD of the Dance. The newer versions, just don't measure up; an attempt to "modernize" the show, has caused it to be nothing but a hodge podge of dances, that have no storyline focus, the stage graphics have nothing to with Irish or celtic culture and the music leans more towards rock .😮 The lesson to be learned, is when you create a masterpiece, leave it alone !!! Constantly trying to re-create it, or re-boot it, just ruins the beauty and magical quality that made it so special to begin with 😮
