@Sean B @@Screamingtilltheend To be fair, the chat is a literal constant tidal wave of text. It's hard to write out a decent rebuttal or well thought out response to the only guy who has a mic & cam i.e. the ability to directly respond and jump ontop of any argument whereas even IF you manage to quickly type out a full response the chances of him not reading it/the chat just burying it are extremely high. So it would be stupid of us to expect the chat not to devolve into quick one-liners or curt responses. Hell, I don't even think it's fair for everyone to blindly assume the allegiances of the chat based on said short responses.
Understand that streamchats do not lend themselves to discussing topics of this caliber. I think it could be beneficial for everyone involved to see Asmongold actually picking someone in his chat out and talk with them over voice and discuss this topic as adults.

So many comments mentioning that he was overdosing as an excuse for why the guy had his knee on his neck. People mentioning that he was a criminal. Or that if you just comply with the police nothing bad will happen to you. The comply one is the most annoying to me. Ryan Whitaker died because the police knocked on his door and hid out of sight from his peephole, so he grabs his gun and opens to door to look outside. The police shine a light in his face, scream at him, then shoot him in 3 seconds. As the girlfriend is having a meltdown at the fact her boyfriend is lying there dying as the police just stand around they start to bullshit their way out of the situation with her. If you watch the video you can see he is putting his hands up as they shoot him. These people that spout this garbage are deplorable.

    • @virgas313
      @virgas313 3 ปีที่แล้ว +22

I think America is super flawed. The system promotes freedom, but a lot of the time the best way to get something done is following protocol, but the systems that said protocols are in is also fucked so its just all around a shitshow. If the people wanted revenge, they contact the police, but the system is fucked so things like this happen. It doesn't need to be so complex, if the police are trying to arrest someone and that person dies, without said person directly endangering the lives of others, the police should always be held accountable. If someone has gun charges in the past, they aren't directly endangering the lives of others right now. As long as the person is not wielding a weapon (as in its in their hands), cuffing or tasering if they're resisting should always be the protocol and action taken. Now if the person refuses to hand over their weapon, you try to apprehend them with tasers. Also, bodycams should be required for every police officer and if something happens and the cop's camera isn't on, the cop shouldn't be tried as a cop, they should be tried as a normal citizen and charged with obstruction of evidence. Just my take though.

While I think what most people get wrong with George F is the facts of what happened, the way they understand it would be an unacceptable outcome. I took issue with the way Asmon framed the case. The guy was obviously taking alot of happy pills and had committed fraud with the fake $20. Cops are right to arrest him and with force if he resists. Simple as. the knee thing is blown out of proportion. it's not a choking hold, he expired from the pills.

    • @TheCommunistColin

This is why activists have been calling for cops to have more training. The majority of police training that currently exists is firearms training. Very little of it is de-escalation or emotion management, which are crucial in situations like this. We have higher standards of conduct for soldiers, whose job it is to go to other places and kill people - why do we not hold the people who are supposed to be "serving and protecting" to a similar standard? You can call it officers being human and being scared, but training is supposed to at least partially alleviate that. Giving a gun and a badge to a person who spooks easily doesn't make for an effective law enforcement force.

We need much criminal justice reforms on so many levels, for one everyone knows war on drugs is such a failure we need to look at it as a health issue not a war. B. Privatized prisons need to be done away with completely, “criminals” should never be looked at like a business opportunity. C. Redistribute police funds to focus on training, cause god knows we need it especially when someone mistakes a gun for a taser. But violence with officers your guaranteed to lose, which is why comply as much as possible I agree with, and hope to god it’s enough. No - Asmon is right about this one. The police is there to apprehend a criminal, not to execute him.
We have a justice system for a reason - even if he might be a bad person he still deserves a fair trial.
The problem with the officer is that he is someone who commited murder. People try to argue that it wasn't murder, but his past record indicates, that this is not the first case where he abused his power. It's a question wheter or not he should be charged and therefore stripped of said power he used to abuse.
Chauvins past records are relevant for his charge to determine if he should remain a cop or not, even if he wouldn't have been found guilty for the current case.
George Floyds past records are used to determine if he deserved a fair trial or not. It's used to determine if police murder of an apprehended person is justified.
George Floyd might have been an asshole - but he should be alive and in court for those things, not dead because of some abusive prick.

Coming from a person that has had to hold down drug fueled clients it take at least 4 people and getting really hurt to restrain one person. Trust me you don’t know what you are talking about.

^This. People who never had to restrain anyone have no clue how hard it can be, even with proper technique and leverage.

To the dude who spammed “Floyd was on drugs” in chat almost the whole time, doing drugs means you deserve to die by a police officer? What about court? Why does the police decide to kill someone because they did drugs? They need help!

Use your critical thinking skills for Christ's sake. Having 3 times the lethal amount of fentanyl mixed with a small amount of methamphetamine in your bloodstream while being subdued by another person will likely cause you to die.

@@Mcdoodoobutt what a dumb thing to say when you started your sentence with use your critical thinking skills. You’re in lala land or iron man if you can survive being knelt on your NECK for over 9 minutes. Think before you defend a murderer.

The average level of IQ of people who protest by burning their own communities down. Funny how it's always someone else's property when they're ready to die on a hill about something, but not when it's their own lol.
