He said your target price is $2k. Is that with a harness? Hopefully harness will be covered with the mesh style and not the cheap plastic corrugating stuff.
This is awesome. My only reservation is going to be putting my racing program in the hands of a device with no tech support. If I’m in the lanes I’m not opening a ticket and waiting several days to hear back on a solution. Hope they’re actually ready to support the racing community in that manner. Not to knock hpt, I know they do their best in that respect.
I think the wiring is going to be interesting. HPTuners existing LS market is stock harness guys. Is it using jumper harnesses, or any easy way to depin and repin stock? Seems like a missed mark if it jumps straight to marketing a whole new harness like Holley.
Dude my heart is beating fast lol I just went seen the email . I haven’t unboxed the stupid Holley so it’s going back lol . I need to start reading my stupid emails so thank you brother for keeping us updated get well .
I'm new to all this but I have a 2015 ford mustang that had work done before I bought it and I don't what to buy to do tune the car. I have no idea what they did before I got the car
HP has a lot of work on its hands, as it is a super competitive space. I have recently been working on a HCRC with a Haltech N3, and honestly the feature set of the new core ecu, is good, software is what separates the men from the boys; and haltechs software, how it interfaces with the hardware side is really second to none. I have direct experience with HPTuners, Megasquirt, Holley, AEM, and now Haltech. I am a Haltech convert.
The terminator is going to have a lot of competition. Which is funny given that the terminator is a pile of crap and should be the last thing people install on their car lol
@Knackersjewels I've had about all of em including mpvi1,23...fast, dominator, MS, MS3 Ultra, everything but fueltech... I wouldn't say my Terminator X Max is for beginners it does a Lot, I am able to get dual wide bands using my dash and now they sell a can add on if you need more than meth/nitrous injection some traction controls ect... Now I despise their customer service and I loathe how they nutter it to protect Dominators and absolutely hate their warranty.... If the new IO were out for digital dash with the MS3 ultimate id never have moved off it, I DO like my 4l80e ecu being integrated vs separate but damn it was fast set a friend's up with good paddle shifter and it's insanely fast I presume with that extra ecu power...also can use vss2 for a drive shaft speed to traction control, also engine rpm slip thru converter with vss1... One thing that might be nice with this besides gdi vvt and up to a8 control....is similar software between this and tuner suite...cause everytime I do a different ecu it's like learning a new language. ....lol
So for $2k you can add an extra injector to a gen 3 or 4 LS, and you can only use 4lxx transmission. This sounds like absolute trash. "Maybe" it will support other trigger patterns and engines in the future "maybe".
Ok Mr Goat. I have a Q. I want to install my 2005 Porsch Cayenne Turbo motor tranny and transfer case into my 2002 Jeep Wrangler TJ. How do I know what stand alone will work with Porsche?
The big thing I’d to find one that supports the output signals from your cam and crank sensors. It uses that to control all the ignition and injection timing. Some have more flexibility than others in what signals they can recognize.
@@GoatRopeGarage so your saying is if I get this mechanically together and over to you. I can just pay you to make it run. I think that’s what I was hearing. Plus you would get a the views and credit. Sounds like a plan.
@@brianross4057 Forgive me for my ignorance, I’m new and my brain is on overload with all this new information. What you are talking about by re- pinning the harness to use a Haltech. Do you think it would be true for a S10 running off an early gen3 truck engine ECU (don’t know the ECU number off the top of my head). Currently have a really nice Current Performance integrated harness and if I can reuse it I think it would be ideal
@@GoatRopeGarageAny chance you could make a video or already have one that I missed? I thought for manual it has tuning for every gear. Which would require gear references
Hahaha, the dominator has not reigned a single day since its release. Over priced hunk of junk that almost every stand alone on the market is better than. No NTK wideband for the people running straight methanol for fuel. Not really a sticking point for 99.9% of the people out there. I wouldn’t trust a Holley wideband controller to run my lawn mower, using $600 worth of sensors isn’t going to change that.
Experiences vary. Every ECU has its own strengths and weaknesses. I’ve had a nearly flawless experience with my XMax on my truck. I killed 1 02 sensor, leaving it on my windshield while it was raining. I would’ve blown it up 3 to 4 times over with the stock ECU struggling through HP tuners. I’ll eat my words when an HP Tuners core ECU is in any winners circle
Does this support piezoelectric GDI injectors or only magnetic GDI injectors? or does it not support GDI injectors at all and only supports classic 12V peak/hold and saturation injectors? Also I hope they got rid of the stupid math based tables and went back to a straight memory based table storage method.
You rock Goat Rope Garage! 👏 We're so excited for everyone to get their hands on CORE ECU!

HPT just needs to bring back the repository.... we were promised a community of shared tunes and it was all taken away

I doubt they could be worse than Holley
@@travispfannmuller7717 I haven’t had great experiences with Holley tech support. But at least said tech support number exists haha.

Great news and updates. Hope this doesn't hurt any enhancements of the VCM editor and scanner for OEM ecus. Hope you get better man
That’s always going to be the bigger market so I wouldn’t worry about it

Can't wait for when you do a video over this stand alone
Interesting idea! Surprised it has taken this long
Hopefully this can be connected with stock ecu connectors
If the tuning side is close to the current VCM software this will be a game changer with the dual wideband that’s native .

Do they do GDI yet for gen 5 and VVT? Also which GM trans can they control?
The timing matching Haltech releasing their LS Nexus ECU seems interesting.....

What about harness Jones comes with harness for that price for sure.
It better be the most intuitive out of all the other comparable ECUs and connect to my gen 3 P59 for $2000.00
Needs GDI BAD and support for 6L80 and it would consume the market absolutely suck it dry...

The Haltech Nexus sort of is, but you have to depin the connectors and push them into the Haltech connectors using Haltechs guide which makes it easy.

2 injectors per cylinder is key here, easy builds coming up!
I tied a 5.3 to a th350. How do I go about tuning in hp tuners when the ECU has no transmission to talk to for p/n/gear reference?
