As a University teacher myself... I have to say that this was really inspiring! ....I am also not sure if I am waiting more the next Mandalorian episode or the next Hanselman's one.!! thx again!
Creativity and engagement are everything in remote teaching. The better the simulation that the student can relate to the more impactful the concept cements. I do the same when making tutorials for the micro:bit V2. Great video Scott and Dr. Kellermann.
As a design engineering student this video makes me excited about the future! You guys did a great job analysing the hidden potential of online teaching and learning.
I teach online for about 7 hours a day, 3 days a week. Great tips. I’ve found the Blackmagic ATEM Mini and teams to be so helpful. Can switch cameras, screens (even phones; anything I can get HDMI out from) into Teams as a webcam.
You guys are showing what my family was talking about yesterday. We were discussing the fact that since we are forced into this situation together, it will cause leaps of advance in this area of remote communication... similar to how a war makes massive technological advance... Look at how much sharing is going on to meet this shared problem of being together, while we are apart. It's just amazing what we can do when we have challenges! #include
This all looks amazing, but the futuristic me keeps imaging someone in 20 years in the future watching this will probably feel the same as us watching Steve Jobs talking about putting 1000 songs in the pocket! Fascinating stuff.
WOW!!! This is just AMAZING!!! This is really the next step not only in e-learning but in learning in general. I'm working mostly in Zoom but I know that Teams is way more advanced in term of team work (no pun intended) , sharing files, and content, and so on, so fort. Thing is, I love the simplicity of Zoom (at least from what I need to do). However, I'd love to be able to do more with Teams... So, I'll guess I'll just put aside my "fears" (of the complexity) and embrace it. Keep up the good work.
Team works out to be simpler than Zoom because of its native integration into the productivity environment. Glad you like this, and thanks for your kind words!
If every professor would do it the way you do Sir, I would love the online teaching at my university. The older the professor is the more they avoid the tech I feel. We have horrible lectures but also very good, well designed lectures online.
it’s actually really easy to show mobile screens on Mac or Pc. Use scrcpy for Android, and QuickTime for iOS. This is easily googled too, especially the iOS solution.
This was truly impressive. Thank you @DrKellermann. Now we just need a composable and affordable System of that 😀 I wish more programmer / designer / dreamer work in that direction.
Fabulous! Would love to see a follow-up video on how to configure a "lite" version of this setup using a laptop and tablet. Also, your lavalier mic sounds amazing. What brand/model is it?
Dude, YOU just uploaded yesterday 30+min video. I have to watch that 3-5 times to get the most out of your video. beschwere mich nicht (german) The best and interesting teacher on youtube. My notification is set to (All) Looking forward to watching that damage you guys are going to come up with next year.
A decade ago this would have taken an entire production staff and a million dollars of equipment, and it wouldn’t have been as good. Now it’s only maybe $15,000 for the whole shebang and you can run it as a one man show.
Software: - Teams, PPT, OneNote, and XSplit Hardware: - Surface Hub 2s, Sigma fp camera, Rode Go wireless mic, production PC, ethernet and switch between PC and Hub. please connect on LinkedIn if I can help further.
This is the inspirational video I've been looking for to show our educators what's possible. Thanks @Scott Hanselman and @DrKellermann
My brain was burnt by just watching the professor's setup :) Well done both of you.

I am a computer professional....
The crossover we've all been waiting for! Great vid, thanks Scott and David

Scott, fantastic video! I wouldn't be mad if you did more of these.
Two mans. Mr. Hanselman and Mr. Kellermann! Amazing content. Inspiring and helpful !

Oooh, we're looking at an ATEM mini, woud love to see what you're doing. Please connect on LinkedIn and Twitter (@DrKellermann)

Love it, so true.

This was a phenomenal conversation. Thanks for sharing this tiny peek into the future of learning, it's incredibly exciting!

This was really amazing to see. Very well thought out or tinkered - probably a bit of both! Kudos Dr. Kellerman!

Awesome... Sharing link to friends and educators at local schools.
Danke für die tollen Ideen.

Yeah that was really inspirational, I think of needs to get more affordable, but this could be a game changer!
@@Dominik-K minus the big screen, it can all be done with standard equipment and free software!
@@shanselman I think I will try it out with OBS, Virtual Camera and some remote presenter lying around. Thank you for the inspiring video!

I use a Rode Go + Lav, and think Scott mentioned he used the same, but I might be wrong.
Such a wholesome, cute and informative video. Thanks for this!
What a great chat, thanks
yay! one of my fav tech person and one of my fav professors. loooove this. thanks!
Thanks scott. I am included!

Another awesome video! Thanks Scott and David! Also, Scott, where did you get that shirt? I want that shirt!
Amazing! Thank you!
Where did you get that awesome shirt?!

My professors cannot deliver engaging & effective lecture in-person.
Sad panda - What uni?
So my listening English is not that advance, what is the Dr talking to google that would be mind-blowing?
this makes me want to go back to uni 😅 inspiring stuff!
Hey, that's the uni I graduated from!
Anybody have a list of tools he's using?
For software, I have:
- Teams
- OneNote
What else?
XSplit with NDI for scene composition, PowerPoint, not much else. Hardware is principally the Surface Hub 2s
Software:
- Teams, PPT, OneNote, and XSplit
Hardware:
- Surface Hub 2s, Sigma fp camera, Rode Go wireless mic, production PC, ethernet and switch between PC and Hub.
please connect on LinkedIn if I can help further.
is this why MS teams doesn't have a built in annotation mode? because all the devs have Surfaces?
Teams needs ink annotation, and I've asked for it many times!
Amazing !! Btw nice t-shirt tag line ☺️
Love the shirt, Scott! #includeeveryone
This is amazing
Awesome!
Have you tried MURAL ?
Oh that's really cool, it's like Whiteboard but you can pin individually as a tab in Teams. Nice.
What Xsplit is he using?
I am using XSplit Broadcaster
Nice...
So, basically, "Where there is money, there is honey".
(Mind blown) 🤓
Looks like lecture on "steroids". But i think not every school/university would have a budget for to buy Surface for each teacher/professor :/
Indeed, other than that surface hub, everything that we showed was free. You could do this with an iPad or laptop if you wanted to.
ana Now I hate my school even More, cause they give us pdfs and let us deal with it lol
