sigh ... I wished I went to their concert in 2020. They came to a city nearby and sadly I had other plans for that evening. The kind of stuff you regret later on (same goes for Ningen Isu around the same time :(
Fate Gear is made up of 4 members, and a guest singer. This song is the heaviest they have done, they don't normally do all the growls, yes they have them but it's normally more of a background thing. They were started by Mina in 2015 a few months after she left another band she had formed called Destrose. Destrose were a big band for the female metal band scene in Japan, it's very hard to find an all female band that does not have a Destrose connection of some type, as they went though a lot of members. The only original member of Fate Gear is Captain Mina. Captain Mina - Guitar Erika - Bass (who left the band, by agreement, when this was released) Yuri - Keyboards Haruka - Drums In the video there is also. Nana - singer (Reasterisk, Theo Nova) Mitsuru - (ex-Bridear, まだ見たことのないセカイ(Sekai I haven't seen yet)) I have seen them live 2 times now, once with Ibuki as the singer and other with Nana. They are a good band live, Ibuki is a great singer, but she is a power metal singer who does all the power metal poses, but just did not seem right with Erika going nuts on stage and she got balanced out by Nana. Nana is a very good front woman, that will get in peoples faces and get them going. I wasn't really a fan of there's until I saw them live. As you said this song is from the Sky Prison album, which I own a copy of, and it's a really good album. It's a concept album about Pirates in a sky ship (zeppelin) and the adventures. This song is about a crew member that sold them out. They also released an English EP at the start of the year, which is a number of their songs sung in English, called Scars in my Life, they released a video for one track called "Scars in my Life" which the video was recorded in France just before the lockdown happened, but as they had not done the English ver, they put the audio over the top. Scars in my Life -English ver. 4K live MV / all-female metal FATE GEAR They used to have a full time singer, but she left the band due to an illness, and now does voice acting. They use a pool of singers from other bands, ones that Mina thinks fits the sound she wants for the song, but they mainly use Nana (the one in this MV). Personally I rate Nana just below Fuki(Unlucky Morpheus,Doll$boxx), she is just so good at what she does, and is one hell of a front woman, from seeing them live, she like to get in people faces and get them going, and is none stop, also keeps up with Erika. Nana also speaks really good English, had a chat with her when I saw Fate Gear play @ the Underworld. Erika who has just left the band, to be in another band, has a larger than life personality and is just a beast on stage. She has been replaced by Nino , ex Ark Royal, on the same today they told people Erika had left, who is the bassist on the "B" side track. To be honest I thought Erika would be hard to replace, but Nino seems to have so much skill and shredded her place into the band. They just released the video for the "B" side Sonic Samurai, which is a cover of Victorius.
Yeah, Fate Gear is great! Their sound changes very much, and Battle against Justice is definitely on the heavier side of their repertoire ... one commenter suggested Headless Goddess, which is quite heavy, too, and a(nother) great song actually. I'd add Megabullets, which was part of the Kengan Ashura anime sound track (both are stored in Fate Gears YT channel). All songs of Fate Gear are written by their guitarist Mina who is an excellent composer, and kind of a legend, too, since it was her who founded the band Destrose, which never reached a great audience during the days it existed (from 2007-2015, if I'm remembering it correctly), but many of the girls who made their first steps in that band are dominating today's female metal branch in Japan (Lovebites, Nemophila, Mary's Blood, Aldious, and Fate Gear, for sure, plus some more). It's worth to be mentioned that Fate Gear is a truly indie band, mastering it's fate (sorry for that silly pun!) without being backed (and strangled) by a rich and powerful business company ...
Seen them live twice and they're pretty good, but they really need a second guitarist for the shows. Just one guitar isn't able to replicate their songs on stage. Maybe Mitsuru (seen here as second guitarist and currently without a band AFAIK since she left Bridear a while ago and her other project didn't look like something permanent) will become a permanent member.
ARIGATO for the nice reaction!! FATE GEAR is my favorite band. Please watch the other song "HEADLESS GODDESS"(MV). There are many talented musicians in japanese female bands. Please watch the other female bands. ALDIOUS : "WE ARE"(MV). MARY'S BLOOD : "MARIONETTE"(MV). BRIDEAR : "LIGHT IN THE DARK"(MV)
Pls next time check out another SuperB from japan called Dir En Grey, 《vinushka live sub Eng 》all the musicians the band are great and the lead singer is so versatic singing. Anyway Cheers 🙂🤘🤘
Been listening to Fate Gear for a couple years now. You can find live concerts of them on TH-cam. The song that got me listening to them was Headless Goddess, it hit harder than this one. Their new album, which this song is off of, they added more English lyrics to appeal to a more international audience. Which is fine I don't fault them, but the song from this album aren't as hard hitting as their earlier stuff. Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth. For another band that has a similar sound to Fate Gear check out Bridear, they started out as a steampunk band like Fate Gear. Now they are in all plaid like a SKA band, BUT they are not SKA they're still Hard Rock/Metal. Bridear - Light In The Dark 👍 th-cam.com/video/UxSrOqAxaKw/w-d-xo.html
I liked them a lot! Very symphonic sounding!

WOW !!! another all Gal band sweet ...

I've heard every song from Dir En Grey. They are 1 of my favorite bands. I only review bands I've never heard of or songs I've never heard before.
