A beautiful discussion indeed! Even Shankara does express a more creative vision of non-duality in his more poetic modes, consider for example Vivekachudamani 521: ब्रह्मप्रत्ययसन्ततिर्जगदतो ब्रह्मैव तत्सर्वतः And, of course in late texts like the Dakshinamurti Stotra मायावीव विजृम्भयत्यपि महायोगीव यः स्वेच्छया (v. 2). This would technically fall under Upasana, and be related to the conception of Ishvara rather than that of Brahman as such, a distinction brought out for example in Mandukya 6 and 7. Thank you, a wonderful and enlightening discussion!

Awakening the Kundalini is an key objective in Kashmir Shaivism. We had quite a few Bubs (Sants) in Kashmir before 1990, who had extra-sensory powers after years of upaya/mantras/tapasya in awakening the Kundalini. Onse such sant (Nandlal Bub) could read the other person's mind. I have seen him do that...its unbelievable.
When looking into the diamond, the infinite and infinitely changing facets disappear.. These two are close, but Shaivism bridges the duality of the ground of being while Advaita contradicts itself. A teaching which holds that the emanations of Consciousness are not real cancels itself. Emptiness and Form are One. If there is no Form, it is still enfolded in Emptiness. Plain truth.
Also: not all Emanations/Forms are ontologically the same. Some are more Real than others, which is useful to realize. Advaita makes it harder to do that by lumping them all together as un-Real . . .
Shadows are reflections of Real objects. Vedantins argue that our concept of world is Maya, like confusing rope for snake. For any confusions to occur, there should have been the concept of a real snake before. So, the nature or Prakruti is Not Unreal, as many Vedantin followers claimed. In reality, Prakruti is eternal as stated by Kapila in Saankhya Sutras.
What you consider as real is not more than name and form superimposed on Brahma. Thus when you say a tree is real, it is just a name and form which you have superimposed on Brahma out of your ignorance.
The division between the real and the unreal is itself an illusion. Brahman is the real-ization of this, but if Brahman becomes an object (a conceptual appearance to an awareness) then it is not real and not actually Brahman. Brahman is the *expression* of Brahman, Shiva is the *expression* of Shiva, God is the EXPRESSION of God and YOU are the EXPRESSION of YOU. This is why enlightenment is in the BODY (as per Hatha Yoga, Pranayam, Kundalini, Tantra etc) and not simply a "mental" experience.
The only difference between Advaita and Kashmiri Trika Shaivism is on reality and perception. In Advaita, Brahman is the reality and Prakriti is the perception, whereas in Kashmiri Shaivism, both the Brahman and Prakriti are reality as part of Purusha (Shiva).
I completely agree... And so excepting both the Purusha and Prakriti gives me a wholesome way to live life as a whole, whereas, accepting Brahman as the only reality and the rest of everything else as Maya takes me towards vairagya which cannot be the life anymore. Then the purpose of my seeking Brahman and integrating this truth as the only reality of my life and renouncing everything else as Maya could also be argued to be an act of Maya itself (false). I do accept the core principle of Advaita of "Aham Bramhas mi" and so is every other being and every other object around me and this whole existence is Brahman. And thus this experience that we call our life, what I contemplate is just an infinitesimally small of the entireness of Brahman. At my level, I might give size and time to it, but at the level of all-encompassing and only existing Brahman, there exists no definition of either space or time. Even this thought and feeling that I experience at this moment is also the manifestation (play) of the ultimate Brahman (the one) who plays (their dance) as the duality of Shiv and Shakti. That would be my humble submission...
@@mansinghdeshmukh9355This is a good view. As long as we are embodied in the idea of ego, of “I”, it is not right to say “I Am That”. Rejecting all of the world as maya also can lead to more confusion rather than clarity which is the heart of spiritual results. Sri Ramakrishna says when one attains knowledge it is like this: It is like when a man walks up the stairs to the roof of the house, once he is at the top he realizes that the roof and the stairs were all made of the same brick material. First through the process of Neti Neti, the Jnani rejects all that is transient and then comes unto Brahman. Then he realizes that all of this world is but God himself pervading it all and the world is infinitely adorable and wholesome. Why reject the world Thakur asks? This too is all God. Just do not become entangled by lust and greed. For those are the clouds which cover the sun keeping the lotus from blooming.

I hadn't heard of Kashmir Shivaism until a week ago, though I had studied the philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita. Before that, i had studied the western philosophies pertaining to the reality of sense objects. I personally settled on the perspective that sense objects are in the least how we experience them; i.e. a "tree" is a tree, even if the idea of a "tree" is an invention of the mind. Correct me if im wrong, but the concept of Maya seems very similar to the idea that a "tree" is a tree. In studying the philosophy behind the Bhagavad Gita, I could make sense of almost everything, except of the perspective that Maya was not inherently real. Once I learned of Kashmir Shivaism and its perspective of Maya actually being reality, it instantly clicked with my previous perspectives. Needless to say, I am incredibly thankful for these great minds coming together to discuss these topics. God bless them both and every one here with us
Read Radhanath Phukan's version of the sankhya karika. But basically, our intellectual determination of reality, as opposed to the experience of the jiva under which lies the true reality, where the former is a less perfect truth and the latter a complete truth - think of it first as hegelian dialectics, one determination is sublated by a determination which is truer than it where the newer determination contains the earlier determination as well, and then ultimately we will have absolute truth, the absolute objective, as opposed to the subjective objective (experience subject to the intellectual condition of the jiva). This talk was very little philosophy, the guest was interesting though as someone just starting to look into Kashmir Saivism.

Both the systems have been there from the beginning and the end objective in both the systems is the same. The tantric practices do give faster results for the intermediate necessities. Each person has the choice to select his own way. There is no point in comparing both the systems. They are only complimentary to each other

It would be of benfit to the larger Shakta community, if Sthaneswhwar Timalsina, Sarvapriyananda and Rajarshi Nandi had a discussion together. Rajarshi has a really great outlook on great many things and is very much in the picture, where he could be an asset to discussions as this one. However, I'd like to see him reconcile the nondual and beyond oneness with his notion of strict plurality - it just seems his notion of ''polytheism'' is not the same thing as this super-integrative view that S. Timalsina is presenting. I don't sense any flaw in the view here. One can't keep proclaiming separate identities of devatas over and over, without arriving to some unifying conclusion. the Supreme transcends the nondual and dual, multiplicity and singularity. the very principle of samavesha abidance is beynd conceptual, just like in Vedanta. Having said that, samavesha won't even occur if the view is not fixed and maintained, regardless how much ritualism and incense burning is performed...
I think that rajarshy nandi would agree with the non dual conclusion. I don't think his belief in the existence of multiple deities is contradictory to non dualism of Kashmiri shaivism because he once said that everything, even the deities are forms created out of Adi Shakti, and that Shakti is of Shiva (consciousness).
Is it so that Prabhu Ramkrishna and Vivekananda practised themselves the tantric way and prescribed their less mortal followers to stick to the more logical option of Adwaita?

Both the systems have been there from the beginning and the end objective in both the systems is the same. The tantric practices do give faster results for the intermediate necessities. Each person has the choice to select his own way. There is no point in comparing both the systems. They are only complimentary to each other
The principle Sat is but it is beyond comprehension and perception ,the moment one reach near to that and can project some idea about it at the best of his capacity .But the moment he comes in contact with Sat he will never exist to explain it and becomes that Sat,Anirvachaniya.Chit is the experience of state of Is,the state of very being with its limiting boundaries of independent existence and Aananda is again an independent of both Sat and Chit and witnessing the existence of both .The experience of Satchichidanand (sat, chit and Aananda)at once ,a state of constant bliss can not be attained without Guru(like Shiva, who has initiated his linage of Nath ,Machchindra Nath,Goraksh Nath ,Gahininath,Nivruttinath,Jnandev,Eknath, etc) only this lineage is authorized to bestow upon the BODH (Shaktipaat) to a qualified disciple of their order and it is not a play of an intellectual gymnastics ,self made Guru and everybody's cup of tea .The details of Guru - Disciple lineage can be understood by Navnath Litreture followed by the Warkari Lineage led by Sant Jnaneshwar Maharaj who has given the Bodh to the yogi Changdev whose age was1400 years having all tantrik siddhis (occult power) still he was ignorant of the strength of Divine existence ,it was possible only when he surrendered to Shri Jnaneshvar Maharaj. Please read the charitra of all the sant lineage in Maharashtra and other parts of world they are the embodiment of all vedas and upnishads, tantra and beyond, rather We can say they are Nitya Avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Knowledge is humility 🙏❤️🙏
So wonderful. Thank you.
Saankhya seems scientific.
Ultimate reality is sunyata (emptiness).
Even then that emptiness is still something, right?
It's not the same emptiness as my empty pocket.
Great conversation. A wonder what would swamiji Sarvapriananda would say about the Donald Hoffman’s Consciousness Agent?
Nice to hear the talk
Simply FAB !!

Where is Vedanta and Kashmir Shaivism in Kashmir today in real life?
Is it so that Prabhu Ramkrishna and Vivekananda practised themselves the tantric way and prescribed their less mortal followers to stick to the more logical option of Adwaita?
We have stories of initiation of Ramkrishna by Totapuri maharaj and of Vivekanand by Ramkishna by touch followed by strong divine experiences by no followers, so far I know, has come up with similar account!! please explain!
I think Swami ji was more worried about the poor state of our country, and he wanted a monkish devotion in serving people and thus started this order, more for "Jagatanam Hitay ch".
Shri RK suggested vedant path to swami Ji due to his personality and abilities, but he also said that don’t think that Bhakti math is not true.
Swami Ji himself turned to ma kali in later year for his personal practices
Tantra is life affirming, experience based, practical. Radical Advaita is life renouncing, nihilistic, impractical. So believe in Advaita, but practice Tantra. 🎉
There are 77 Agamas in Kashmir Shaivism.
92...
"Temporary man declaring that the eternal infinite universe as unreal" is philosophically and intellectually dishonest, with all due respect to Vedanta scholars.

So veranda and kashmiri shaivism are to major philosophies in indian?
WOW thx
I personally think spirituality should never be made a philosophy or an academic subject because then it's only an intellectual subject without any experiential understanding. when there is no experiential understanding then only wild imagination and misunderstanding can take place and one will only be full of words.
Philosophy is also a part of spirituality. “Gnana”
Philosophy on purpose of life, self and practice is spirituality.
So what I realize is that Tantra and Christianity actually say the same thing. The purpose of diversity is love. Blessings.
No. They are very different

This universe is infinite. How can the infinite universe be unreal?
Beacuse it's material/ physical / maya/ devil material universe is finite, unlike the self
@@jacobfraser1238 Why do you differentiate between the Self and the objective universe? What is their relationship, and through what ways do they differ? Who and what ‘entity’ differs this in first place?
How do you know it is infinite?
And what is it precisely that is infinite? Space?
Do u guys belive that universe is expanding?
@@Chairman_LmaoZedongSpace itself expanding. Scientific observations point to the infinite universe.

Dr. You are talking unprepared ,and bombing on audience what has been accumulated since long time randomly, there is no system of delivery and logical sequencing of content ,only monologue style delivery .Hence finding difficulty what you want to say exactly.
Dr. Sthaneshwar Timalsina. He is not a good speaker at all. Podcast should have gotten someone else. He just speaks word salad, apart from his terrible accent.
