Seems like greed is our biggest problem. The majority of politicians will support the government just enough to enrich themselves.

Aristotle did not use the word corruption, but his arguments can be summarized as "corruption is the root of tyranny". In corrupt states, politicians rule for themselves, not for the people, not for the nation, not even for the government.

@@2Question-Everything Psalms 2:7-9 “I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me,‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’”
Revelation 12:5-10 She bore a male Child who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron. And her Child was caught up to God and His throne. Then the woman fled into the wilderness, where she has a place prepared by God, that they should feed her there one thousand two hundred and sixty days. And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.

The pyramid mentioned (individualism, tribalism, state bureaucracy) goes beyond the macroscopic level to the growth of the individual (baby, child, parent). BUT each level needs to be developed for sanity. Meaning, you can't skip over individualism without leaving someone with an undeveloped foundation. Also, a person can stay at the individual level as an intelligent lone wolf "Sigma" without having an arrested development, if they see the other levels as being stuffed with self-deluded simpletons.

Once I lived near an antiquity shop where they used to sell very cheap old books and I used to buy the ones in French for practice. Gosh I wish I remembered now the name of this book but unfortunately I forgot: it was about a man who goes from aspiring politician and first is just elected major of a town but then builds his career up and becomes a more prominent public figure. The character begins by honestly wanting to do things and makes all these claims and promises this and that. As the novel progresses of course he gets caught up in his own persona and there is this scene where two very naive pheasants to whom he promised help appear in another town because they followed his advice but now they are impoverished and they still trust him and he must dispatch them with some empty words, it is a bit comical this scene but it shows how his guilt sometimes comes to haunt him as he climbs up the social ladder and his internal self transforms. This book was from year 18 something, from the 19th century not even the 20th... It was so surprising to read a more accurate and honest description of what often happens in a book from so long ago...

It doesn't matter what college you went to or even experience what matters is the RESULT on the dotted line. Negotiating tactics are apart of business and can't be taught.

Those that are less valuable at preserving the state, whether they are less cooperative or less skilled, are left behind or forgotten. That leaves the highly specialized and the highly fanatical / nationalistic to be the ones that get ahead. Come wartime, preserving the nation becomes more important than keeping families intact. Indoctrination becomes more important than independent thought.

Well... Preserving the state is important, because it enables many other things.
Even so, all (mostly) static systems become mal-adapted over time, in a world that has changed too much for them to still be a good choice.
So, periodically, you need some level of disruption.
Trump... Is possibly a peaceful version of disruption (it not necessarily one likely to address all the key pain points of the country today)

And man I need my bureaucrats. If it wasn't for bureaucrats directly acting on my advice this year, I wouldn't have got myself back. People don't realise. Bureaucrats do listen but you better have that advice down in dot points and it better be profound because they are busy people and they got a lot to care about. If you think you got a lot to do as a normal person down the ladder, you have know idea. And they are very normal. My favourite part is their background always. What drives them. Some have real depth that will blow you away. Like old Senator James Paterson there. (Just an example) 911 changed his life the same as it changed mine forever. Proper real guy with depth. Not perfect but real as you get. Raw AF. Should make him AU ambassador to Washington. I mean no one see the Panda eyes these guys get sometimes. When they care. I know what does that.
