DUDE I CANT BELIEVE THIS VIDEO HAS SO LITTLE VIEWS, IT'S SO GREAT
And that conclusion about media often stripping african conflicts of their political reasons is something i myself have been thinking about a lot, especially after becoming interested in post-colonial african history (id also like to note that that the same logic that is applied to paint the conflicts as ethnic is often used to paint them as being fundamentally over resources, like if Mobutu's overthrow by the AFDL happened in Europe, or even Latin America then there would be endless books and movies about it with every teen having a Che Guevara style t shirt but with Kabilla, but since it was in the DRC its often seen as only happening because Rwanda wanted 1. DRC's recourses 2. To fight congolese Hutus, completely ignoring the decades that congolese people have spent under Mobutu's heel)
