Great video, but you are not allowed to work at bars on a working holiday visa

Not legally you mean, but most of the bar jobs are doing it illegally

Oh wait heck this is a totally new channel :o That's amazing, I feel perhaps a bit nervous of the act of truly just selling off my life and moving, my plan is a bit more stone. [ go to school, stay away for a semester or a year --- go as an ALT]
gotta say, accepting and moving on from uni just not being your thing is kind of great. .... I've never thought of an alterative if i find that the same for me. So perhaps it would be wise to think on it, thanks for that!

@jackinjapan Mate, how have I only just found this channel? Appreciate it's probably not active now, but been looking for a bit of back story for ages - having watched your other, ever so slightly more active channel. Trying to place where you're from originally... my best guess is either the Lakes, or the other side - closer to Durham. Could even be Seasider 🤷🏼‍♂️ Boku wa Manc da.
Would love an extended back story mate. Would be very interesting to me - am looking to move out next year, do the whole language school thing and retrain in software dev whilst am doing so. Anyways, sorry for the essay - look after yourself muckoh.

Currently applying for the working holiday visa too! how did you find getting a place to live? ive previously lived in Osaka, but had housing provided via uni

    • @jackinjapan
      @jackinjapan  ปีที่แล้ว

Hey, sorry I only just saw this. How's the application going? I lived in AirBnBs for the first three months, then signed a contract with a company in Osaka (lots of foreign tenants, English support) and stayed in one of their mansions for the remaining 9. I can put you in touch with them if you're interested: jsteertranslation@gmail.com

I guess in the next couple of months I’ll be moving to Japan too! However, I just watched a video and the person spoke about all the natural disasters in Japan (which I knew) but the way he explained them gave me anxiety about moving there! 😂

Experts say there's 70% chance of a major earthquake hitting Tokyo before 2050 which might be something you want to consider when choosing a place to live, but the majority of earthquakes aren't dangerous, just a little unsettling (if you're not used to them). I hope you have a great time 😊

"I Sold All My Stuff and Moved to Japan"
The alternative being to ship your possessions to Japan.
An easy decision for men; far less so for women. My advice is to cash out and replace, because British size furniture will be too big for a Japanese apartment. These days, you can find clothes and shoes in western sizes. Recycle shops and 100 Yen shops will definitely get you to first base. The shipping cost will easily cover replacement.
Presumably your translation work was Japanese to English. I'm lost in admiration that you reached functional translation level from essentially a correspondence course.
You are right about the importance of a degree in order to relocate to Japan. Any subject would be fine.
Obviously you would be looking at a urban location when you first arrive looking for paid employment.
Word on the street is that the photo is required to make sure you're not Black.
Having a Japanese wife will smooth your way through Japanese bureaucracy. Hardly the ultimate sacrifice, as you seem very determined to relocate to Japan.
Essentially your face is your fortune, so you're off to a flying start there.
You might want to work on straightening out that slight up-north dialect if you get into teaching English.
You may have missed the boat as the really good period in Japan was early '70s to early '90s. Presupposing cultural enrichment is not your major goal.
