Unchained Melody Nobel Peace Prize 2023
Some ask why Angelina Jordan would pick Unchained Melody for this event, Narges Mohammadi, the Iranian human rights activist who received the prestigious award remains incarcerated today in Iran. One of the most popular and enduring love songs of all time, Unchained Melody, has a surprising origin. It was composed for a 1955 film called Unchained, which tells the story of a man who is incarcerated for a crime he did not commit. He yearns to be free and reunite with his wife and children, who are waiting for him outside. The song captures his emotions of loneliness, hope and longing, and has been covered by many artists over the years.

Beyond her grace and the perfection of this performance, there are three things that make it particularly significant: She is Norwegian and Norway is the home of the Nobel Peace Prize, her grandmother is Iranian, and Unchained Melody was written about a prisoner longing to be reunited with a loved one. The honoree, Narges Mohammadi is in prison for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran. Add to that the fact that Angelina's stated goal since childhood is to spread love and healing through her music, and it is fitting that she would perform this song at this venue.

I have got to quit watching and listening to this performance by the most beautiful and most emotional voice in the world! In the 19 hours since I watched it live stream, I have watched it at least 30 times! She has had me locked into her music for almost 10 years, but never has she hit my heart and soul so strongly as she has with this performance of my all time favorite song! I loved it when she did it at 9, I had tears when she did it at 11, her short version setting on a stool (Instagram I think) recently really shook me, setting 30 feet from her in Portsmouth NH on Sept. 22 she blew me away with what I considered the best rendition ever of the song, now less than 3 months later at what is already a very emotional setting she pours bucket after bucket of emotion into this performance!! I am 81 yo and I do not remember ever crying so much as I have in the last 19 hours!

I just did realize when I watched this super recent and wonderful video: this is almost exactly 10 years after her performance of "Gloomy Sunday" she did as a tiny 7 years old, blowing all Norwegians away.... What has never changed since than: Angelina is completely into her song, when she performs 'she is the song'. Next month Angelina will turn 18 and next Spring it will be 10 years ago that she has won Norway Got Talent. I wonder what is going to happen in 2024 and I think we all can be very optimistic for Angelina.

A magnificent performance by our Barefoot Princess. I also happen to believe that Iran was most likely where Angelina met the young Orphan girl that she gave her shoes to. Angelina is also part Iranian through her Grandmother Mery. So the connections are many and intimate. One can say she is a True Asian Iranian Princess. Our Barefoot Princess is embracing her heritage and representing it so beautifully. While also drawing attention to the struggle for freedom. What a monumental beautiful moment. She has of course a long history with KORK and has performed with them many times. It was evident why KORK is considered one of the best in Europe. That beautiful accompaniment was perfect. They kept Angelina's voice and performance the center of attention. The complemented her masterfuly never once playing over her. A stunning performance by our Barefoot Princess. ♥👣

I heard Angelina sing, unchained Melody in the Portsmouth concert when I was there and it was absolutely amazing. This version at the Nobel peace prize concert is different it is more delicate and sweet. In the Portsmouth concert she was more powerful but they’re both amazing. Wow she’s incredible. Narges Mohammadi, a woman's rights activist from Iran, is currently on a hunger strike while imprisoned in Iran. I can only imagine the chats Angelina, Sara and Mery have had about this remarkable woman. Angelina didn't disappoint with her performance, singing to the heavens, with a plea to free Narges.
