All the copper and brass brought back some memories. I was rehabbing a 120 year old house in a historic area. We were replacing all the plumbing in a 3 story house. All of the old water lines were brass with a bit of copper thrown in from repairs. Most of the waste/sewer was lead and cast iron. There was about 3,000 lbs of brass and 12,000 lbs of lead and cast iron. Brass was if I recall about $.75 lb and the lead and cast was maybe $.10 lb. The owner said she didn’t want it. Talk about making a 22 yr old happy. 😃
Man, I am so glad you do this. I scrapped for a few years and I miss it. I was a trashman, so I had so much scrap. I loved sorting everything and make a run to the yard. I'm going to have to start scraping again if things don't change.
I find that breaking down my scrap and micro scraping is very therapeutic and helps relieve stresses better than the medication I was prescribed. Thank you Mike love the vids.
I thumbs up before your vlog plays as i know its gonna be good. I am still amazed at some of the quantities and variety of "Stuff", that people just chuck in the dumpsters. But we are grateful that they do, because that means you get great rewards for stopping it needlessly going into landfill and we get entertained. Take care.
I agree with the person ahead of my comment I know you have done a lot of videos but I hope I don't run out of ones to watch. Your an intelligent and caring man ❤
Great video, Mike! Your tips on sorting and recycling metals are really helpful. I especially liked how you explained the difference between aluminum and brass. I'm sure many viewers, including myself, will find this useful. Thanks for your hard work!
I'm a contractor and for about 5-6 years I had a gig with a local indoor gun range to take their lead and take the brass in exchange for maintenancing the range clean up and the carriers that moved the targets and the exhaust hood filters on the roof. It was a range that had about 15-20 law enforcement agencies that used to qualify their officers on the private side of the range and 20 lanes on the public side. The officers would run drills where they would shoot a few rounds, drop their magazines and then clear the unfired round in the chamber. I would get all those unspent rounds because they would land in front of the shooting bench about 2-3 feet down range and they didn't want to collect them when they were done shooting. For the brass and lead I would get about $6500/month and the laborers I'd send over would take 2 guys 2 days a month and about $50 in supplies so like $2500 all in each month. So I was getting $4000 cash for 5-6 years. I also had endless 9mm and 40 cal ammo from all the police leaving it behind. Well, one day a customer came in and rented a Glock 17 and got a 50 round pack of ball range ammo and set up a target. He fired 3 shots down range, took 2 steps back from the line, stood sideways and put a 9mm bullet through his ear and killed himself. Everything was on camera. The range was closed for the investigation and it became a lawsuit by the surviving relatives and before the dust settled the range went bankrupt. Was good while it lasted.
I love watching these. I even learned a lot. Thanks Mike....love watching you make it all look so easy. Looking forward to more of these! 👍🏽🔥🔥🔥👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Biggest thing I learned is that I NEEEEEED something to cut with (sawzall or cutoff wheel or SoMeThInG 🥴) because I wear my old behind out getting crap apart! Thank you Mike!
I was a scrapper years ago. Loved seeing school busses on the car dump. I'd spend the time taking the windows out of the bus, take them home and start taking them apart.
Thank you for giving me my "fix" when I feel like dumpster diving. And you are a critical person in the environmental saving and conservation of our precious natural resources. Mike you're the bomb big dog . I salute you !
Mike, thank you for all your videos and all your work. You are a delightful person. I watch your videos with my 80 year old mother and it is always a joy to find something new. God bless and stay safe!
Just did my scrap run a few days ago and walked away with $2,188.25. Not bad for free money. I am a plumber so i get a lot of scrap copper. Your videos get me pumped to go out and get me some scrap 😁
I know what you are doing is time consuming and sometimes difficult, but you make it look easy. You are very efficient which makes the work profitable. Good job.
Mike I am a 76 year retired nurse and I love watching your videos. You're funny, entertaining and I don't know how you lift some of that stuff. I love to see the stuff you get especially the curbside, people are wasteful. You are a very hard worker and thank you for what you do. Wish you could make more money 😊
Just watched a video that says he makes about $26,000 a month in ad revenue from You Tube. Plus the money from the actual scrap and good items that he sells. And money from his merchandise sales. He is doing really well!
I know what it's like to scrap and sort . I do it on a daily basis but watching you makes it so much better. Keep doing what you're doing and keep entertaining me with your videos. So much love to you for doing it.❤❤❤❤❤
I also do a little bit of scrapping too. I particularly like it when I can get to use found scrap tools to dismantle scrap items. My preferred totes are made by cutting the tops off plastic drums and trying on a rope handle. Scrapped saws are good for cutting tops off too.
Actually swedgelock does use the different grades of stainless steel and are priced accordingly. Also the monel fitting look similar to the SS but are more grey and way more in price. I would think for the price of a couple fittings sold to anybody for marine use would be more than you will get for scraping them for weight. Just Gina trying to profit off the Milwaukee name which was valuable before everything is made in Gina now .
Thanks for showing us how hard you work and everything you do to bring us the content you do. I appreciate you and all that you do. I've been watching you for a while and you are my favorite TH-camr and hard worker . Thanks
Mike, I’ve been watching your old videos and then watching your new ones when you post them. You have changed. If you want to chuckle at yourself, go back and watch your old video. Peace out.

Thanks for the total. I started to back it up and add & then thought to check comments. Appreciate it!
I had that total as well. What a haul for one day!!!

A guy at the scrap shop taught me how to identify brass. Scratch it. If it's yellow it's brass

Good catch Mike. Every pound counts. Ball valves usually come apart ok if you want the Teflon ball out.
This is a really fun change of pace, very enjoyable
Mike I enjoy the clean up videos. I've started scraping myself and these videos are helpful to me. Thanks Mike 💪🏼
