  • I have always like the color scheme of the Implematics and found this one online at a dealership in Canada in 2015. The salesman assured me everything worked and that even though it was in a snow bank at the moment, it would start right up with a "boost" They were only asking $1800 so I bought it sight unseen. Once we put a new battery it it, it turned over fine, and was supplying fuel to the injectors but just wouldn't start so we decided to try pulling it. Fired right up after about 20 feet and sounded nice and smooth. I had alot of friends who told me I should leave it the way it was since it had a cool old rusty look to it. But I just had to have the bright and shiny.

    Nice job on the restoration, I have an old 990 (1964) here in Australia and was hoping to restore mine one day. Just need time now. Well done.

      Best restoration of a David Brown I've ever seen is an oil and filter(s) change by a dude in New Zealand. Thing is a beast hauling logs, planing the massive driveway, making wood and just all around hauling and lifting stuff. Definitely made for the rough stuff better than any other.

    Lovely looking job on the 990. Some David Browns were sold in the Oilvers in the early sixties. Most probably the 850 and 950. I don't think any 990's were rebadged. Take care.

    Looks good, you did a fine job. So these Implematics were sold here in Canada, not in the US? Interesting. There is one for sale here in NS for $2500.

    I have one and the 3 point hitch has a little trouble raising up my Tedder . I have to rev up the engine to pick it up. Also I can't seem to find neutral on the PTO. I have to turn off the tractor, engage the PTO and then start the tractor. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

    Hi there, enjoyed the video. What year is your 990. I have a (I think a 1965) 990 Implematic. You can see it in my videos here in NZ. Have recently changed the tyres on it to 16.9 x 14 30 on the rear and 7.50 x 16's on the front. My 990 has an indicated 8000 + hrs on it. Still seems to start and run well. Cheers

      Nothing special really. Power washed with steam to remove old paint and grease, then primed and painted.

      Certain models more so than others. Not many people know that the under 100 hp class machines in the case and case ih line up in the 70's to late 80's were all built in Meltham by David Brown.

    Hello ! Wonderful job! We are Italian farmers and we have a David brown 850 implematic first series. I want to restore it but i dont find the code of the paint. You can tell me of the code of paint if you use for the restore ???

    • @hogslayer
      @hogslayer  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The official code for Currant red is BS539 and the Primrose Yellow is BS310. However I could get those numbers to match anything here in the US so I contacted Peter Williams at www.davidbrownparts.com/. He was kind enough to send me a paint sample of each and then I matched those colors to ones available to me.
